Come on, you could do way better than that.
got any specific suggestions?
there's not anywhere to really hide stuff like in a normal case
and I was mostly going for function over form, just wanted to get most of the stuff at the front where there isn't anything that needs airflow

Nice case. And I wish I had gone with the modular power supply, as it seems so much nicer sitting there. If you could but hide that one black snake under the motherboard, it would clear up the whole picture. It takes a few moments, but its quite easy. Then its out of your way.

Thanks. The Three Hundred is an awesome case for $50. That's a very good suggestion but I think the EPS 12V cable it a bit too thick to route under the MB. Maybe I'm wrong. This case would be perfect if it came with a way to route cables behind the MB tray.

Why don't you sleeve those cables? For self satisfaction. :D
LOL, because I don't have hours to waste and sleeving cables sucks. It's nothing but a huge waste of time unless you're doing some big mod project.

EnderW, what case is that?

Ah, thank you! I've been wanting to do a build in a HTPC case.. or something in a smaller case. That one seems to have some space.

Yeah, it can hold another hard drive too, I just left the cage out. It is pretty spread out, but is low profile which I like. Make sure your heatsink will fit. My Zalman 8700 was close, but no problems and I think it looks great with the black interior.

Use some zip tie mounts and zip tie the cables together. They can all be routed around the motherboard. (unless that one P4 power connector is too short, otherwise try underneath the board)

I've got the Three Hundred and I can vouch that the line can go under the mobo...although it wasn't the easiest (or least stressful thing). It did seem to cause the board to flex a small amount before I had all the screws in, but afterwards it was fine. I'll probably take mine apart in a month or so and drill the mobo tray to route it behind the board. And it looks like you already did, but I had to cut the zip tie holding the 24 pin & 8 pin together at the PSU to get enough cable for my 620HX. I will try to get a picture of it.

(and I know the Intel Cooler sucks, have a S1283 on the way...)

Thanks for the info hiodie. Nice setup! And yes, I did cut the zip tie that binds the 24pin and 8pin connectors. I just don't have the energy to take out the mobo again. I have tinkered with this case so much already. I just cleaned up the wiring two days ago and replaced all the case fans except the top with the slow speed variety Yate Loons. If I have to replace the PSU in the future it'll be much easier not to have to take out the MB tray. I do like that you've run the front panel audio connectors under the board. I wish I had thought of that. I ended up not hooking those up.

Just out of curiosity, what's that sleeved cable you have running just to the left of the battery? Is that an external cmos clear you've rigged up?

Here's my updated system. I'm using one case fan, the stock cooler on the graphics card and the fan in the PSU and thats it. Hard drives are suspended with elastic in the 5.25" bays to further quiet the system. Temps are great even with the CPU overclocked. Total and complete silence :)

I have external molex connectors on a PCI bracket (my comp. runs in a closed space, so it powers fans in the back of my desk). I plan to mod it and cut a hole so I just have one molex mounted directly to the case, but it will be awhile before I get that done.

I know what you mean as far as not wanting to take it back out...kind of a pain to get everything to work out. For the front panel connectors, I had to take them out of the loop above the drive bays to get the audio to reach...its a very close fit, kind of like the 12V connector. Thanks for the compliment. Your setup is pretty nice as well...looks almost identical minus the PSU & HSF. I will try to post again when I get around to cutting up my case.

the 4pin aux is super tight, I could barely get it in

I don't see any cables to rate :p VERY NICE JOB!!!

I posted a "legit" picture so get off my back :p Its still a work in progress but for now, I figured Id throw a picture or two up just for fun. But if you guys are gonna rag on me, I wont post any more pictures until Im 99.9% complete :(

Here's my Antec Three Hundred.

Nice job. The 300 is a great case for the money, I really like mine even if I don't like my current wiring in it.

I had the same problem with that Black Snake. I am pretty sure I tried it under the mobo, it either didn't reach far enough or was too tight underneath. It's been a while, so my memory could be failing me and I had just planned to deal with it later because you have to pull the mobo to do it. Either way, it is a common problem, and at the very most all we need to do is cut an access hole.

.

Yes, heck of a lot easier!!!!

No, i didnt have enough!! I got it from Frozen CPU, and they didnt give me enough -_-. I had a feeling that i should have ordered another kit, but i didnt.

Yes, its shrink. I ran out of the small shrinking stuff, so i used the larger stuff and it was a bit too big, so it didnt melt all the way down. So, im thinking about getting some blue tape, or black maybe, and sleeving the stuff *right* at the PSU to hide the different colors.

If i wasnt in Korea, i could get some easy.. but it cost me like $20 to ship that $15 sleeving kit over here...

I can understand. This is one big reason why I don't buy sleeving kits, and rather, I buy the materials seperately. I get the shrink tube in 3 foot lengths for a couple bucks, and have several colors and sizes in my stock at all times. The nylon braid sleeving costs a little more, so I only stock the size and colors I know I use.

If I were you, I'd leave it as is and be done with it. Not too far down the road you will be buying a new PSU, and can get one that is already sleeved.

I agree...it's amazing to still see practicle applications for them after this many years, although they've moved from a high performance air cooler to more of an HTPC cooler now I think.

Heheheh. I think whenever one is working in an HTPC style case, you have to cut a little slack on cable management. It'll never be opened for viewing, and as long as things are bundled so nothing gets caught in a fan, and the airflow is not blocked (for the most part), you are doing fine.

It does look like there is room for improvement. The main ATX line looks like it could run under the drive bay if you tidy things up a bit there, but the 12V 4 pin/8pin looks to be a bitch. Otherwise, I see nothing blocking air, and only a small problem with hiding spare cable -- maybe tuck some of it to the right of the drive bay underneath, between the bay and the case.

Nice case BTW!

Scary thing, a flexing board as you slowly screw in the screws... all it takes is one solder pinpoint to pierce a power cable and you can get a nasty short. I really don't like running any heavy cables under the mobo, they just don't give us enough room or high enough standoffs to do it safely -- yet.

As I said, nothing a little bit of cutting won't fix.

Pulling the mobo back out doesn't take much effort. Leave it till later, or a rainy day. All it takes is a few screws and disconnect a few wires. But definately leave it till it is something you want to do, and will enjoy.

Cutting a hole for the P4 line will mean gutting the system completely, you don't want any tiny metal shavings getting caught and hiding anywhere, to be blown by a fan onto the mobo later -- causing another nasty short.

Exactly what I was thinking...it's kind of cheating to take the pictures from such an angle that you can't even see the area that is the messiest in most cases. :p

:D

He's not ragging on ya...

Everyone does it for at least one shot. Call it photographers creative license!

Haha, I know. Im just messing around. I'm waiting on another Nexus fan to be delivered so I can play around with that and figure out the best air flow pattern for my setup. Instead of running one Nexus at 12V, I think I'll run two of them at either 5 or 7V which will be even more quiet than my already-almost silent system now :)

I'll post more pictures when I get everything settled

Ya...ya. I know, I'm still working on the 5.25" bays to see what I can do but for now...

Those cutouts for the ATX12v cable/etc are custom, right? Either that or its a P182, not a P180. Because mine doesnt have them (which now annoys me greatly)
edit: NM, its a P182. I see the WC holes.

Its a late P180 with the P182 "fixes". Antec started incorporating the cable cutouts in the P180 later on, I was lucky enough to get a case with those cutouts thankfully

And mine is an early one. :(
/me considers. What other cases are bottom mount PSU with the seperate air chamber down there and room for full length GPUs?

Full length... desktop yes, workstation... maybe?

Not bad, but I've never been a fan of Mountain Mod cases...the things are to damn big and leave WAY to much wiring exposed for my liking.

The only way I'd use one of their cases was for an enclosed/out of sight server system and I wasn't concerned about the internal aesthetics.

To each their own I guess, they're nice cases...just not for me.

The V2xxx series is stupid huge. the V1xxx series is... more manageable. I'm considering selling mine and switching to something smaller, since I don't have 16 HDDs.

I posted these a long while ago.. I have since changed hosts so I figured I'll just repost em:

I feel for ya, I am in the same boat... errr case. After pondering modding my own holes, I decided to just go to another case because I would still be pestered with lack of space. I can't run two full size vid cards in the P180 because the lower one will be blocked by that unremovable floppy bay.

I've got my socket 939 system back in it, and it's happy enough. I'm keeping it for now as a work backup system, as it already has all my work on it from before. I'll sell it complete to the right person, but untill then I will keep it.
