NEC 2690WUXi updated ( NEC 2690WUXi 2 )

I also note it is wider gamut by a bit and lower brightness. So essentially a 26" screen update.

Any idea which panel ?
Better or worse ?

On the Benelux website it also moved into the pro section.

The main changes in this updated version of the LCD2690 are:

1. Color gamut increased slightly - mainly in the blue. The blue primary now matches the LCD3090 and lies outside the sRGB/AdobeRGB gamut. This allows much more saturated blues to be displayed.

2. The contrast ratio is increased to 1000:1

3. The maximum luminance is reduced slightly to 320 cd/m^2

4. The OSD has a new function that makes it much easier to quickly switch between color modes such as sRGB and Programmable.

IPS panel with updated backlight tube probably for wider gamut but reduced brightness.

from official pdf file

"• Wide color gamut (97.8% coverage of
AdobeRGB*)
• Auto Luminance control with X-Light™ Pro
backlight/sensor design for consistent brightness
and color
• ColorComp™ technology compensates for slight variations in luminance and color uniformity, providing even
color across the screen
• IPS active matrix LCD provides superior screen performance, including wide viewing angles, lifelike flesh tones
and dark black levels
• Supports internal programmable 12-bit lookup tables (LUTs) for calibration
• Designed for landscape or portrait usage without degradation of performance or the display’s lifecycle
• Ambient light sensor and automatic backlight adjustment allows for use in any lighting conditions
• Digital and analog inputs with true MultiSync support for non-native resolutions"

sells for only $100 dollar more, also lighter than the v1

damn I just bought my v1 like freaking a month ago, now i'm sad...

v2 looks exactly same as v1

I wouldn't be sad about getting the V1, it's a great monitor. I love mine. There's always something newer and better coming out, you just need to buy what you want, when you want it and then be happy.

This also doesn't look like a massive update. A bit better CR and a slightly wider gamut maybe but that's it. It isn't as though the V1 is any slouch in either area.

Thank you Will for taking the time to inform us on this upgrade.

hmm perphaps they managed to get rid of the humm from the display ?
I would be really curious to know whether the humm has been fixed as well. thats the only reason I sent my 2690 v1 back. otherwise it was a great monitor.

Monitor Guy....any news on the humm being fixed in 2690 version 2?

My apologies, I was thinking of the wrong monitor for some reason.. the 24WMGX3.

don't worry about it, I was really pointing it out for the benefit of those that were hoping v2 90 series would be coming soon in other sizes, and given the relatively minor nature of the changes it wouldn't suprise me if the 2690 update was forced on NEC due to changes in spec of of key components.

It's basically a shortcut available on the OSD that will let you switch color modes in two button presses instead of having to go through the menu structure.
Well well well. The great Will Hollingworth of NEC America is a n00bie.:p

Any chance of fullfilling my wish ? : http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1032717956&postcount=46

BTW,
You owe albovin a 3090WQXi, because he's the best defensive tackle, defensive end, linebacker, cornerback, and safety that NEC ever had.:p

its using the updated LGP 26" LCD madule, the old one is end of life. The major difference is the contrast ratio and speed of the panel.

Read that it goes on sale Nov 20 in Japan. I'd also like to know more about the V2's lag and whether or not it makes noise - I was about to pull the trigger on a pair of V1's.

i was after a large screen with thin bezel like this nec...

um'ing and rr'ing on this or the dell 3007hc and hazro 30" as as all of them have nice cases and thin bezels but if the nec Rev02 had low lag it would be a no brainer...actually it could be the holy grail of large monitor:eek: speed and quality in a sexy case ( i think its sexy:D...i dont get out much:( )

It will almost certainly have the same amount of lag as V1. Which actually isnt't that bad considering the amount of processing NEC does (12 bit Internal LUTs, full control over everything, screen compensation, etc...).

hi snowdog,

i see you have the the Nec 24" do you also have the 26" if not have you seen it in action?

i read you thread on the 24" but just wondered if you could tell me what they are like visually with games like halflife2..battlefield 2..cod4..as im not sure id notice the lag/ghosting much.

i seen a youtube video posted in another thread of a 24" dell and that was showing the effect of ghosting which was bad but it was the first time id seen it.
i tried it on my laptop and i only noticed a little so little id have to sit and focus on to see it.

so if its really only slight, then i cant see why i should be that worried and go and buy it.

its not like i do any online gaming as such which i would have thought would be worse as thats much faster based..

it has a wider gamut... contact will hollingsworth he posts on dpr a lot on the pc forum. he is the north american rep and knows his product well.

I wonder if there will be anything decent availble when my 2490 UXi warranty expires in 2012, or it dies (likely the day after).

I suspect legacy apps will still be garish on wide gamut panels. Now A-TW might turn out to be a temporary experiment as well.

I am not looking forward to my 150% wide gamut TN screen... :(

I think I will be trying to replace my backlight when it wears out in my 2490...

Hey, HP LP2480zx. Expensive, but with LED backlight.
But it has some drawbacks... price... "only" 24"... and CRAPPY FAN which can get quickly noisy. So I have heard.

Maybe that time large OLEDs will be finally available.

I doubt there will OLED durable enough for monitor usage in 2012 (but I would love to be wrong).

OLED has a long way to go to catch up with Plasma from 10 years ago.

Unfortunately the cheapness of LCD will slow adoption/investment in other technology.

Well, there are Japanese which are willing to invest into an expensive technology, however their economic slowdown makes this more difficult.
