Ipod Touch 2g Backlight Issue

I noticed not long after I got the Ipod these spots on the edge of the screen. It's not your typical backlight bleeding however. Most backlight bleeding is only annoying when there is no signal source. This screen has basically no bleeding when the screen is black, and it is very apparent in light screens. It is not noticeable on the ipod touch home screen however since the edges are black. I've had trouble finding someone who has realized this problem.

I was recently at an Apple Store and I decided to check to see if the display models had a similar problem. I only checked two or three, but they all had the same light spots in the exact same place. I think this may be linked to the volume button on the outside since they are located parallel with the middle of that button.

Does anyone have an Ipod Touch 2g with the same problem? If you do, there's probably nothing to do but ignore it, which isn't that difficult. By the way I recommend that if you have an ipod touch, you may not want to look for it cause you may not notice it now but it could annoy you if you do find it.

Heres a picture of the spots.

I have a 16GB 2G touch and I don't see spots like that on mine. I turned the brightness up and down and put it under my desk, away from any ambient light, but still don't see it.

Do anyone recommend I send it back to the online retailer I bought it from? Or to Apple? I'm wondering what option would most likely yield a ipod with no problem.

Speaking of the backlight, why does Apple insist on linking the Auto-Lock feature to the backlight dimming?! It's really dumb when you're using it on the car... If you turn the Auto-Lock on so the screen turns itself off (to save battery) then you can't easily skip tracks (double clicking Home and then next track isn't much of a shortcut imo, takes about as much time as sliding and tapping next track)... There doesn't seem to be a away around it.

I think if you've got the Touch hooked up to some kinda recharging device then it will actually not lock after the pre-set interval if you're playing music (but will still dim the screen), which just seems ass-backwards... That's what it should do when it's running off the battery, not off AC! Ugh. This is the only thing that's disappointed me so far about the device, loving everything else, seems silly of Apple would fumble this kinda simple usability aspect, considering how easy it'd be to add an extra setting for the backlight/screen itself.

I don't have any problems like that on my 1G (obviously) but I do have some REALLY bad backlight flicker at anything less than full brightness. I just bought Applecare for it so that I'm covered for another year, and I'm hoping I find time to have Apple check it out. I looked at the 2G Touches in the Apple store, and saw no such problems, either.

Do you mean you didn't see the spots or you didn't see flickering. The spots cannot be seen in the main menu. The clearest example is using safari or any of the other applications with a clear screen. It's also obvious on Cube Runner.
