YouTube is now starting to place links to online stores in the control panels under certain videos. As long as it isn’t intrusive or blocking the whole video, I don’t see the harm in this….do you?

Google has bided its time working on ways to "monetize" YouTube without alienating notoriously transient Internet users that could easily switch to Hulu, Daily Motion or other rivals in the online video-sharing arena. "Click-to-buy" links are being discretely placed in control panels below YouTube videos to invite people to visit online shops iTunes or Amazon.com to buy music, books, films or other material related to snippets watched.

You know I don't think this will work either. Youtube has set the standard for non-intrusive, all-inclusive types of videos without commercial interruptions and placing BUY NOW type buttons, even discretely, on Youtube videos will hurt Youtube further and alienate the rabid customer fanbase and will earn them exactly $0 in revenues.

They better think this through clearly before they lose their best customers to other alternative video sharing and streaming sites.
Hulu???????

I guess they have to try something. Sooner or later Youtube has to start making money, right?

I expected this sooner. They have to monetize it sooner or later.

i wish i could boycott all forms of advertisements buy not purchasing/consuming any product that advertises.. but alas even the government puts on ads about scheme (tap) water...

but when i put things in perspective.. if it think of what they have instead of ads in other countries.. stuff like constant regime propaganda... i think... well.. at least ads have a monkey once in a while...

oh that reminds me.. there is no such thing as an ENEMY MONKEY!!! theyR all your friends ;)

Didn't get an ad. But really enjoyed the song.

Look below the video, not in the video. There are 2 buttons linking to AmazonMP3 and iTunes right above the viewer comments.

Not the least bit intrusive. I'm all for this. YouTube needs revenues to stay afloat and I would hate to see them go away.

Yeah especially since there are no REAL ALTERNATIVES;)
