I stumbled across this today on Seagate's website. A quick google search shows that buy.com has it for $199.99 although it's "Temporarily Sold Out."

Has anyone it in stock anywhere?

I just got pricing on these as well, available Monday. We got 3 engineering samples of this drive a couple weeks ago. Pretty slick, but we're waiting on the NS version in early '09.

Ummm... these are already for sale. I know a person who has them running in his server already.

Dell had them instock for EPP discount for $207

And people said these were going to be overpriced, this is a steal for a top drive.

They're always released to the OEMs before the channel. On a side note, the 2TB ES.2 SATA drives ship in May.

And those are the ones I'm waiting for :D Instant double storage gratification.

so I need to start saving now to buy your current galaxy drives off of you, at that time, thanks, I'll keep it in mind! ;)

I am actually counting on that so I can start building a new home server. dvds take up alot of space.

When the galaxy project is done, I'll have a 113 disk capacity :D

I can't afford to join the 100TB club. :(

LOL, don't feel bad. I think will all of my disks combined (IDE, SATA, and SCSI) I maybe have 1.5TB, and that's like 20 drives. Oh, and if Ockie gets his way, he'll have 113 drives, but they'll be 2TB, every single one...that's the 200TB+ club. 100TB...pfft...frickin small time man :D

IF I had my way...but the accountant (wife) and the bank account doesn't agree with my ways unfortunatley :(

Right now to join the 100 TB club you are not looking at chump change. @ $0.13/GB..it is $13k.

I got that on sale last week for $195 from Dell so I bought two. They still haven't shipped though. They told me they would have them shipped by the 10th. Still, I can't complain at that price since they're $100 more from ZZF.

Hmmm I know it might not be the best question but why would you need so much space?
a 74GB raptor is sufficient for my needs lol

Different people have different needs, to assume that everyone has your needs or requirements is just overwhelmingly generalistic.

You probably don't do a lot of video encoding or media stuff. My media server at home has 400gb free out of 2TB so I need a bump! I'm looking to get at least two more of the 1.5TB drives.

Where do you see them on Dells site?

Looks like they pulled it from their small business site as well as the consumer site. I'm sure they got a ton of orders that they can't fill right away. Good ol' supply and demand.

Very true.

My 80 GiB main drive is about full and I have a 400 GiB drive that's full, as in I have about 300 MB left. So I had to retire the 80 and made my 750 GiB back up drive to replace the 400 GiB and bought the 1.5 TB to be the new back up.

What's the most GB's us lowly Vista 64 users are gonna be able to see or is it the same as ram in that if you wanted to reach the limit you'd better be able to affort to?

You won't run into any limitations any time soon. If you use GPT, you can go over 2TB, which is the only realistic boundry at the moment.

Damn, im a few days away from half of galaxy 1 and now Ockie is maybe going to 113 drives, god damn he is crazy.

Wow that was quick, I just checked my newegg account and they said they've already shipped the drive!

Can't wait to pop this badboy into my MSS.

M

Looks like i should have picked this drive up when I first saw it on newegg today. Oh well hopefully this means 100 buck 1tb drives for black friday.
