I have Antec Sonata II with low-noise SmartPower 2.0 450W which is about to die.

I have quite old system, so I don't anything too powerful, yet quality and silence are important.
Rough system's specs:

CPU: AMD Atlon (venice) 3500+
MB: Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939 nvidia nForce3 250Gb
RAM: 2x1G crucial
Storage: 1sata+1pata HDs; 1sata+1pataoptical drives.
Video - Radeon X850 - AGP8x

PSU requirements:
About 450W, quality!, silent.
Molex connectors is a must.

I am considering 3 PSUs. Please help me to choose or suggest anything similar.

1. TruePower Trio 430 http://www.antec.com/uk/productDetails.php?ProdID=07644#
2. OCZ 500W StealthXStream http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/power_management/ocz_500w_stealthxstream_power_supply
3. ThermalTake TR2 470W Black Silent http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Power/TR2power/w008990/w008990.asp

May I suggest you get the earthwatts 430 by antec? Just helped a friend setup a rig with that and it runs spot on... its silent as can be.

Corsair VX450W

+1 to this. It's of significantly better quality than than the three PSUs already listed.

However, I recommend that you RMA that Smartpower back to Antec. Remember that you do have a 3 year warranty on that PSU/case. No need for a receipt either.

I just RMA'd a SP 2.0 450W from a Sonata II case a week ago. Got a new Antec Earthwatts EA500D PSU in return today. Cheaper than buying a whole new PSU altogether.

How old was your PSU?

I bought my Sonata II case in May 2006.
I am not sure I can RMA it in the UK after 2 years.

Well like I said: Antec PSUs have a three year warranty. I bought the Sonata II case in September of 2006.

Do you live in the UK?

Should I contact online retailer where I bought the case or should I contact Antec?

OK. I followed your advise and raised the ticket.
We will see.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Done.
My UK reseller(www.ebuyer.com), bastards, refused to help me to contact Antec's representation in the UK (ENTA). All www.ebuyer.com had to do was to contact ENTA and get RMA number for me, because ENTA is dealing with resellers only. I would have to send PSU to ENTA in the UK but it is cheaper than sending PSU to the Netherlands. After 3 weeks of not replying to my emails they refused to contact ENTA on my behalf.
So, I sent faulty PSU to Rotterdam for £19, and received Antec EarthWatts 500W that costs at least £45.

Thanks a lot for your help!

My Sonata II case came with 550w truepower 2.0, it is still going strong in my gf's case now.

I'd suggest earthwatts if you not doing hardcore gaming or anything like that, but I heard earthwatt's fan is pretty noisy. So you maybe want to consider Truepower Trio 500w, it's about $50 shipped on buy.com

I recommend any of the antec earth watts or any of the lowerend corsair units. None have failed me so far.

The OP already got the Earthwatts PSU and he's located in the UK where buy.com does not ship to:

Smartpower and earthwatts is the same thing?

Who said he had to buy from buy.com?

The quote right above your quote recommended that the OP buy it from buy.com. And no, the Smartpower and Earthwatts are not the same items.
