Hybrids Too Quiet, Get Fake Engine Noise

http://www.spokester.com/

What ever happened to putting a card, taped to your bicycle frame, flapping against the spokes? Why, back in my day, that certainly turned some heads.

Im still waiting for some of these blind people to log into hardforum and let us know what is what, but so far it seems like this may be a solution in search of a problem, as a previous poster stated.

Although I havent had a prius sneak up on me and mow me down, they are quiet. But theres always a give-away. Tire noise, squeaking brakes, the overpowering stench of tofu. Its not so obvious at a walking pace, but 10-15mph through a parking lot, tire noise is almost louder than a gas engine running.

but it IS real, i described how i with no handicaps nearly got ran over and the lack of sound would have made all the difference

who cares if it is one life, one life is enough to justify it, and i am willing to bet there have been non-fatal incidents involving pedestrians and silent cars already, it just hasn't reached epic proportion yet...

so where do we draw the line? do we say, okay, 15 people have to die or be handicapped for life before something harmless becomes a good idea? really man.....think

OK, then how about we make face masks mandatory. I remember how I, with no handicaps, nearly got a nasty cough from a run-in with a diesel. Or how about government mandated general use helmets, just in case someone falls down the stairs, or bumps his head while having hot sex? If it can save one life....

Noisemakers on hybrid cars don't make any economic, social, or practical sense at all. You drank the nanny-state kool aid and you have NO idea how the world works.

Don't forget we have to put padding on all hard surfaces (streets, sidewalks, etc.) so if anyone falls not a single life will be lost from busting their head open. Any bridges must have safety nets installed under them to make sure that no one dies should they fall off the bridge. We also need to outlaw riding horse (and kill them all so there isn't a chance someone could get on one) to make sure that no one dies from being thrown. :p

I love when they they have to ad things to dumb down new-age products because consumers hold on so desperately to silly things.

my parents have a newer lexus hybrid SUV, and that thing sure as hell is quiet. It is a very odd feeling turning the key to the on position and having nothing happen except for the lights coming on...

It's nice really. I like it. And it's always nice and quiet when you stop at lights and such, or are stuck in traffic. Less air pollution. Less noise pollution. Quite relaxing.

Isn't it strange that it feels like something is wrong? Whenever I drive my parents' hybrid, I keep waiting for it to be loud.
