How do these perform against... say... an Nvidia 7150 (in current laptop)?

I've been considering getting a 14" and noticed that as an option.
For those of you who have one, what can you say for performance for any Source based game?

I just got a Dell Vostro with a NVIDIA 8400M GS and it's actually not that bad. On my Windows XP partition, it runs CSS over 60FPS @ 1024x768 with everything on high. I have to played in windowed mode due to people constantly looking over my shoulder at work. ;)

It's a pretty decent card, better than the 7150 I'd say but don't expect it to run Crysis or anything like that.

my 8400 runs pretty slick. I play tf2 on it at 1280x800 and also Civ4, and both run smoothly. Haven't tried anything else yet.

Not planning on ever playin Crisis... (played the Demo, didn't really like it).

Wish I knew what Starcraft 2 is gonna need... oh, well.

My XPS is a capable gaming platform, older games run fine, newer games just need to turn down the settings.

My mother's Vostro with a 8400GS can run CSS and TF2 without a problem!

My laptop with integrated 6150(similar to the 7150) pretty much sucks for most games. I can play HL2 with framerates in the 20s and 30s at 800x600 with everything set to minimum, so an 8400GS would be a significant improvement. If you plan on doing any moderate amounts of gaming, you'll want the dedicated card for sure.

The 7150 is integrated into the northbridge (just like Intel x3100 stuff, etc).

The 8400GS would tromp all over it.

I played it last year at blizzcon and they had it running perfect on 8800 gts's (G80). So it won't be that demanding imo.

I went with a 14'' Asus laptop (F8S series), and it has the 9500M. It's a bit of a jump over the 8400GS. I can play CS:S Office with 30 people in the map, 1280x800 everything on high with no-AA and it's smooth as silk >60fps. =D

Anyone seen the news about the G84 and G86 chips having manufacturing faults and are killing laptops?

I heard about the news article, but nobody I know (online and in real life) has ever had that happen. I guess it only effects laptops with bad heatsink designs or something.

HP's class action and replacement of the motherboard seems to cover a large swath. Dell is replacing boards too. I found out when my laptop started to bluescreen pointing fingers to drivers. Now its doing random bluescreens usually after its been on a while.

I know the Inq doesnt particuly like Nvidia but with their annoucement and all the other info... Its not looking to far fetched.

My G1S-A1 with an 8600M just stopped displaying anything two days ago. I wish I had read these articles before I sent it in, I would have demanded an updated unit.

See my post in this forum.

The news is spreading. Seems alot is still under wraps. Nvidia know that announcing that all 84 and 86 are shafted wont do them any good. Given that HP lists all the ranges of its laptops and some checking showing that Macs will be affected too... I'd not be happy as a Nvidia shareholder.

Wonder if Steve could do some digging? I'd like to know the real story. Cause if Inq have it right... Nvidia is about to have 2yrs of hell. (up to 6 in the uk. We can return "not fit for purpose" goods. I did it for my busted caps motherboard. Had to threaten to take my CC company to court for it but got there in end)
