I don't care if my boarding pass has RFID I mind if a privately owned company is given the OK, and makes me pay for it, to shock the crap out of me for any reason.

You are all missing the real point. This is just a real-world trial. After this happens, we are all going to be required to wear one at all times. If you try to tamper with it trying to get it off.....well....do you remember the prison scene in the beginning of the movie "Running Man"?

There will be no tag....it will be an implant and it will contain every bit of info about you from the day of birth and when the time comes they need to take you out...one keystroke and you'll be a corpse. Or they can erase your chip and render you homeless and without identity.

Any technology that can be built can be exploited.

If our government is ever cowardly enough to allow something like this I'll be on the first boat to another continent.
 
I guess on the bright side now after the plane explodes they will know what body that arm went with and should be able to find the highjackers a little easier. As one could assume they are the ones near the cockpit or near what was the bomb.

Actually, now is the perfect time to freak out. Backlashing BEFORE they have the shock collars in mass production is much better than after they are around your neck.
 
I will agree to this if:

* children under the age of 8 get collars with optional morphine injection
* parent/guardian of child gets auto-shocked every time the child has to get an injection for being unruly or loud

Except that one guy happens to be a senior official with the Dept. of Homeland Security,and the fact he isn't in the unemployment line right now after even considering this is outrageous.The whole idea of fighting terrorism is to preserve our way of life,not destroy it ourselves in the process.This man has no place in any government position.
 
After thinking long and hard about this, I have to say I support it as long as they change the shockers to attach to the genitals.
 
I can't wait until this is a requirement for everyone at all times. You think it won't happen? Let them get away with this one and see... It's just incomprehensible that people would actually believe that something like this is being done in the name of their safety. Nobody that lives in a cave in another country is a threat to my freedom. The only ones trying to take it is these folks. :(

while we are at it lets ban the obese, people who think carry on means as long as it has wheels and a handle, people that think once the plane touches ground they need to get up and stand in the aisle, and last but not least the really ugly. and no more 67 year old flight attendants with attitudes.

And finally, anyone who is worried that this could actually happen is stupid!

Come on, do you really think this guy's idea will become popular? If he isn't fired, his coworkers will probably laugh him out of the office. Most government officials are not as dumb as this guy, even those who work for the DHS. And even if the DHS somehow supports the idea, airlines would never even consider it.

Of course, if this did happen, I would stop flying along with 90% of the population, and the idea would die quite quickly. However, I am 0% worried that this idea will ever get past this stupid guy's letter. I think everyone should at least have enough faith in American government to know that they will not put electronic shock bands on the citizens who elected them.
 
Airports wouldn't have so many problems with passengers if they stopped treating people like cattle. All these airlines ran there companies into the ground even with the huge government subsidies, let them die.

I lost my faith in the the US gov't a long time ago when i found out any one with enough money could buy laws

between this crap from DHS and the crap spewed from the **AA's

we slowly becoming corporate fascist state

this gov't has had a good run i think its time for a new one
but people in the US are such pansies any more no one would ever try to start let alone take part in a revolution for fear of a one way trip to gitmo

are we to let as some one said "some guys in a cave" take our rights way?

Can't afford it.

The gov't spends all our money killing people in far-off lands to secure no-bid oil contracts and the leftovers on terrorizing the citizenry with their "tales of terror" on the nightly news. Shock collars are not so far fetched when you consider that close to 50% of the cattle in this country approve of warrantless wiretapping.

I fly upwards of 18,000 miles a month. This happens, I stop. I'm sure that many of my fellow business travelers would do the same and we would see the end of commercial aviation in this country.

This idea is too fucking stupid to go anywhere. If I'm ever given any reason to believe that they're serious, I'm sure that I, and lots of people, will start making a whole hell of a lot of noise.

256 million are even more blissfully ignorant for letting all this stuff happen, like the patriot act, guantanmo bay, abu gharad prison, the whole farce at the UN (honestly does anyone beleive those computer generated images of "mobile chem labs" and some shitty black and white photos to be real credible evidence) and yet you continue to let stuff like this happen.

Your shooting yourself in the foot, this is just another test of eroding your basic freedoms and rights in the grand scheme of things.

Shock bracelets? Screw it, I vote for small bolted-down cages for all passengers that only get released when the flight attendant presses the emergency button.
