Top 10 most terrifying enemies

Just remembered another one, most of the bosses in Jericho were pretty creepy as well

Cacademons in Doom were pretty harrowing at the time.

Looking back now they're endearingly comical, but back then nothing made me jump more than creeping into a room only have the "KAKAKKSSSHHHHHH!!!" sound fire up behind me and have one right in my face as I turned around.

Then Switching to the Plasma Rifle to take them down..

a couple enemies from condemned: criminal origins...

the walking mannequins
and the final boss guy with the two swords, he was creepy

I dunno about babies in Silent Hill but I was in Japan playing the Japanese version.

They were cute little teddy bears, with knives for claws and you could kill them but they were so short you couldnt see them till they were right on you!!

Definately on my list!!!

Some old stuff I remember being scared of when I was little.

1.) That minotaur at the end of one of the mazes in one of the kings quest games
2.) The witch that you ended up giving the poison porridge to in Kings quest
3.) That dang yeti in that old skiing game where you ended up always being eaten.
4.) Troll King that held you prisonor and was going to marry you in one of the older kings quests
5.) Pretty.. much a lot of kings quest stuff that my brothers played.

The headless suicide bombers in Serious Sam were pretty terrifying.

...........aaaaaaAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! BOOM!!!

It seems a lot of people missed the satire in the article
It was satire until they mentioned the Cherubs in Doom 3...then you realized they were actually being serious with the entire list.

chronicles or riddic, that giant robot, it was just so in your face, and you couldnt really get away.

They didnt even mention a single survival-horror game lol.

If this is satire, its the retarded kind that no one is going to get.

Oooooh, I forgot. The Boost Ball Guardian in Metroid Prime 2. He wasn't scary, but there was this feeling of dread knowing you were going into one of the most annoying boss battles ever fought on a PC/Console

those twitching shaking dudes from the cradle in thief3. oh god. i didn't want to fight them, i didn't want to move when i saw them. i hated those guys. i think i tried to actually leave the cradle at one point, i didn't want to go on :p

The manikins in Condemned Criminal Origins

Yeah forgot about these...

Very scary game, in fact what I did with this was watch my brother play the whole thing through in 2 sittings, It was kinda fun to watch it because it was more like watching a long movie.

He got to the manikins and he stopped a few feet back from the first batch and we were both like "uh oh...."

And managed to observe that some of them don't have stands to prop them up and just as I mention this to him, one calmly at the back of the store steps down off the stand and calmly walks across the room, freaked us out.

Needless to say the one standing next to us without a stand was shot in the face as a test to see if he was a manikin or not :D

The half-human / half -cyborg women in System Shock 2 were scary. They would come out of nowhere shooting you and muttering their phrases.

The zombies with shotguns and wrenches from System Shock 2 also made me jump a few times.

Jack Lupino from Max Payne, the guy that was into the occult. "I have tasted the flesh of fallen angels...I've tasted the Devil's green blood. It runs in my veins". That character really freaked me out.

Dude, I totally forgot about him until you mentioned it. He has to be the one enemy that is above other that freaked me out. Even the whole level, Ragnarok, leading up to him freaked me out, as Max Payne is discovering all the books he read and the things he writes about..... :shudders: That was probably one of the creepiest levels in a game that I've ever played.

In the first half life that big damn fish in the water... you couldn't see shit until he was right on you... everytime I jumped and was afraid to get in the water lol

aww memories.

Something about a dragon going through walls just creeps me out.

The first time the spider falls from the roof in Resident Evil I had to pause the game and change a pair of paties that were slightly soiled.

and the little kids in the school of Silent hill were creepy as hell.

and I loved this

The "Lion-Bear" from "Out of this world"

Holy crap.. I need to get that game and play it again. I don't remember much except that it was challenging at the time (I rented it on PS1, IIRC, and didn't have the instructions.)

I'll throw a few out there:

The large dogs from Oddworld:Abe's Exodus (when you wake them up)

Pinky on original Doom in that really dark room early on in the game. To this day I can hear that snarl/grunt and jump. More of a suprise thing than a scary thing.

That huge, rocket shooting son-of-a-bitch on original Doom. Rather, the sound of the footsteps. Easy level but it gets the blood pumping.

Some kind of large animal on Half Life:OpForce... I barely remember it but it scared the hell out of me the first time I ran into it.

The water monster in Half Life 1. I hate that bastard...

oh the sectoid aliens from ufo defense were really freaky the first time I saw them.

they looked like your typical 'little green men' though they were brownish. the music and dark atmosphere of the crashed ufo site in a farmland area just added to it. you would be walking along doing your turns and one would pop out from the fog of war and shoot you.

it was turn-based 2d game too, but thats how good the game was.

The 'greys' from Area51 (The FPS from Midway with Marilyn Manson Voiceovers) were very creepy..

You are in the 'Saucer' and they are all just looking at you through the glass, no sound.. just looking right through you.. Creeeeeepppyy!

There is a version that was redone recently for Windows. Do a seach for it. It's cheap too. The original game was called Another World (not Out of this World,) so you may search for that too. I'm not sure which title the remake uses, as I haven't played it for a while.

Is that Venture? I had it for the Intellivision, but it looked a little bit different. I still play it once in a while (the arcade version.)

Adventure for the Atari 2600. if you were really good you could finish the game in like 2mins.

I had more fun getting eaten by the dragon then letting the bat carry you all through the map. That was one of the best games for the 2600.

Some of the creepiest monsters I've seen in a game are the dianogas in Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire for the N64. I was terrified by them.

I am Sinistar. Beware, coward! :D

But most of those are crap. Wheres all the classic Doom monsters?

These cocksuckers.

-snip-

Every time you heard the bastards start a charge, you'd end up blazing away with an entire mag.

yeah, but I could count the amount I killed on one hand... (even If I lost three of my fingers)

Shodan anyone? Played that game when I was 9, scared the crap out of me.

if you havn't played System Shock 2, go download it along with the texture pack update. Looks decent and it plays alot like bioshock.
