I'm sure there are others besides me that ask the same thing to themselves...
How many boxen do you have folding for ya?
Right now I only have two, but that should increase to four or five by the summer.

Vote in the poll

Edit: I should have put this before, only vote physical boxen, not VMware virtual boxes ;)

Currently 5 total, although the E6400 and PS3 are the only 2 worth much anymore. :D

7 boxen
5 headless in the basement, then the wife's computer and then the main rig, (mine)

1 headless (Q6600) 24/7
My main rig (Q6600) 24/7
1 borg (E4400) 24/7

Total 3

Well... counting my current borg, I have a total of 20 boxen folding right now. Most are running the standard client, 2 gpu clients and one SMP headless boxen..... yeah, only one SMP right now, which really sucks because there are two E6750's in my borg that are running the standard client...

9 boxen running, one boxen being built.
22 VM clients running, 2 more to be added.
I'm only averaging around 4,500 PpD per Box.

Luck ............ :D

I currently have 7 boxen running and will keep it that way for the foreseeable future, even if my production increases substantially. I don't want additional space taken up by more cases, so I will improvise with what I have.

This isn’t that hard, walk around, count your boxen and hold up one finger for each one.;)

I have 4 but I only call it 3 and a half, I need that 4th quad to make that last box a real box:p

currently 14 boxens myself (10 from work and 4 from home). This count is variable because most of the work boxens are boxens I'm preparing for production duty and sitting in the meanwhile.

9 including a PS3, just waiting to put the 9th together! S/B next week.

I just switched down to 1.... going to save some electricity over the summer and pick it up again in the fall, hopefully with a quad AND a dual-core. :)

8 Boxen dedicated to folding 24x7, accept to do some occasion gaming on weekends.
All kept down in the dungeon, err basement at 59 degrees F. Well with all the boxen running the
temp may get up to 63. 14 SMP clients total.

edit: just looked at the results  Wow 17% with over 10 boxen

2 - first two boxen in sig, both running SMP clients

Notfred CD (Intel) + Windows MCE (AMD)

1886 PPD

Home: Main Rig, lappy, and a PS3.
Office Borgs: At least 15, and possibly more.
Stanford reports 26 in the last week.
All are running the standard client, except the
PS3, of course :p.

Ok, so your PS-3 isn’t folding with the standard PS-3 client?;):p

Just remember that many of those voting in the poll are regulars on the forum and don't exactly represent the overall numbers of machines for folders on the team. In a way that's unfortunate and in many ways it's very fortunate.

It's nice to have a lot of people that want to help out even if it's only one machine. The only reason I say it's unfortunate is because we can't all have at least 10 machines to fold with.

For those that may be lurking and might be thinking that only having a few boxen is embarrassing, don't think that. Few of us started with a farm. I know I originally started with 1 or 2 personal machines and have since increased my total of personal machines as well as borgs. I was welcomed as much when I only had a machine or two than I do now with multiple machines. I think in my case it was just because they liked making fun of me but that hasn't stopped even though I have increased my number of machines. Trust me, everyone in here is an equal opportunity offender. ;):p:eek::D

QFT:cool:

I spent my first entire year folding on a P4 3g HT machine running 2 standard clients:eek:
Everyone here was extremely friendly and helpful...... and believe me, I had some stoopid questions, but every single one of them was answered...Not once have I ever seen anyone here talk down to anyone folding.... There have even been instances when someone folding for another team has come here seeking help, and help has always been offered...

Bottom line, it doesn't matter what you bring to the [H]orde, just that you bring it:)

Fold On!!!

Yeah, I definitely agree. Before I ramped up in april 2007 (when the WinSMP is released), I folded with just 2 computers for 2 years. Now, I'm considered a heavy hitter but everyone must start somewhere ;)

I'm surprised that the fan on my X30 PIII laptop hasn't died yet. Thinking about retiring it soon though... Today's WU's just kick its arse. :(

That's why I switched most of my single core machines to WCG. They "seem" like they do more on that project than they do for F@H.

I'm surprised no one has complained about the poll being about "boxen".
I'm buying (for work) quad processor, quad core servers. I just wish I could burn them in for the warranty period :) That's 16 fast cores in 1 boxen.
I've got at home an AMD 2500+ that's 1 slow core in 1 boxen.
Which boxen puts out more?

Anyways, I presently fold on 4 boxen (11 cores) plus a PS3

19 Quads. A mix of Q6600s X3220 and 2 QX6700s.
Nitteo, it's good to see you on this forum; I'm APOLLON at OC.com. I was going to ask you there but since you posted, are these home based boxen or work machines?

Is the company yours or are you just responsible for selecting new hardware equipment? What brand/specs are these QS servers?

I look at it like this, especially a month ago: It's not about the points, its about the WU. While I was only getting 15-300 points per WU, I was still cranking out a couple a day.

Fold on!

Oh...

I have 5 boxen folding at the moment. The sigs running the SMP client, the lappy, the old Dell running diskless, and a P4 borg.

The lappy is folding it's last WU :(, it's 4 years old and I really have to think about longevity since I need it to last 2 more years.

The diskless P4 is also coming to an end. I have to think about WU:power consumption, so I hope to replace it with another quad by summer.
