Just a quick question someone might be able to answer. Thanks to my puppy I need to purchase a new set of headphones. Does anyone know if you can hook the Razor HD-1 Barracuda Gaming Headphones up to the 3870 card? I know the headphones come with a HDMI plug. I was thinking of purchasing them if it will work. What I was doing before is having my headphones hooked to the on board audio and my Bose 5.1 desktop speakers to my audio card and then switching sound output under the control panel to switch back and forth between the two. So I don't have a problem with switching between audio card and vid card if the headphones will work. Thanks for any help anyone can give.

The HDMI audio output has been mostly miss for me. For some reason it doesn't like to output sound for me 90% of the time. From your configuration you would have your one DVI port for video and the other DVI to HDMI for audio passthrough. You may have to try the Realtek ATI HD Rear audio driver in order for it to work.

I'm not aware of the Razer HD-1 Barracuda supporting HDMI audio streams. Where in the instructions does it say that it does?

It has a DVI connector that is used only for connecting to the Razer AC-1 Sound card and nothing else... you do know that it's not a real DVI connector. Razer has just taken the connector and reassigned the pins and used it for its own proprietary signal connection.

See the comments section of this review for an explanation of what the connector is used for: http://techgage.com/print/razer_barracuda_headset

The HDMI on the razer is HDMI-DAI which is for the HP1 headphones and the Adaptor to let you use analog devices. It not the same as the HDMI your thinking off. Totally two diffent things. And no it wouldnt work.
