My ISP throttle the upload/download speed on my torrents. I have access to a VPN connection through my work. I have been told that connecting to the VPN will direct my torrent traffic through the VPN and will improve my torrent speeds. Well, when I am connected through the VPN is see no improvement. Was I given the wrong information or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Depends on the configuration of your VPN. If it is setup for split-tunneling then the only traffic that goes over the VPN is stuff that is directly related to your work, ie. shared folders, email, apps, stuff like that.

Personally, if I was responsible for that network and I found out your were trying to funnel torrent traffic over the VPN I would fire you. :D

Yeah, I'm 99.999% sure your work would take a dim view of what you're trying to do. And we aren't going to help you circumvent your work's network restrictions. If you have a legit need, talk to a sys admin about allowing access.
