Viewsonic VX2025wm arrived! First impressions and pics

I have had this monitor for quite awhile and just recently noticed an issue with it.

In my lower right corner there is like a grey spot. It isnt a dead pixel or anything. If you touch the screen to where the pixels react, you can see the spot is actually behind it... Like somehow dust got behind it. How exactly should I fix this, It is under warranty but im scared i would recieve the lower 2035 instead of what I paid for.

If this is what I think you are seeing it kind of looks like a little tear almost. If that is it you may want to try setting an all white background for your wallpaper and leave it that way for a few hours or even over night if possible. Sometime pixels get stuck and can look weird and setting a uniform background color can fix it. Give that a try and see if it fixes it.

doing that now, however I really dont believe its a pixel issue. I really believe that it is just something behind the screen because of how it moves when you turn to different angels, but maybe you are right. Certainly hope you are. Like if you put the mouse cursor in vista to where it is inside the center of the cursor. and then move your head to the other side, looking at it from left, its outside of the cursor. Its really weird. My room does get very dusty, so thats why I believe that it is just dust behind the screen somehow. you can even tell if you put the mouse next to it on this white background that it is behind the cursor. It is not on the same level.

Yep, the following settings did a great job with Titan Quest, at least for me. I can a difference, for the better. I am happy now, so I don't need to bring out my 19" CRT. Once again, thank you!

Hey I noticed that if I adjust the RGB like you had it it looks noticeably less "true" to white. This could be due to me not using the ICC. I checked a couple scenes in 2001 A Space Odyssey where the spacecraft is obviously supposed to be white.

@Gatecrasher3

Yeah I tried connecting with my it using component cables, and a component to VGA adapter for the monitor, since the VGA port wasn't being used. And damn do I regret it. It plugged in fine, but 1st of all, everything looks green, I think it has to do with the Sync on Green thing on the monitor. But worst of all, at first at least the monitor worked properly, but now my DVI input on the monitor doesn't even work! It's ridiculous and now I have to send it in to Viewsonic to get it fixed! Until someone finds a way to prevent this from happening I don't think I can recommend it for Wii at least. PS2 at least has HDMI out and you can get a HDMI to DVI converter easily.

I confirm that this monitor has SYNC ON GREEN because i connected my xbox1 with a vga cable made by hand hoping that my monitor is SOG and it is.
when set to 480p wide is looks really bad, but when it is in 720p, like mortal kombat armageddon, soul calibur 2 or XMBC it looks awesome but the screen is not centered.
im buying a xbox360elite and i will connect it with a hdmi-dvi cable and will post some pics in 720p. im sure it will kick ass.
on thing more, this monitor, at least IN VISTA, with drivers 162.22 and my 7600gt NO SCALING option in control panel works, but 168.18 in xp DOESNT. so its a driver problem.

Sooo FACTS about Viewsonic VX2025wm:
-It is Sync On Green.
-NO SCALING option in NVIDIA control panel WORKS in VISTA with 162.22 WHQL drivers.
-NO SCALING option in NVIDIA control panel DOESNT in XP with 162.18 WHQL drivers.
-720p in VGA works WONDERFULL (tested with a xbox1).

Hi, I have a XBOX 360 ELITE and i want to post & show some info I discovered about this monitor!
First, it supports every resolution through HDMI-to-DVI except 1920x1080. I found out that the aspect ratio of those resolutions are way too different than this monitor (16:10) so the best resolution for 1680x1050 would be 1280x768. I'm a bit dissapointed with this monitor. It seems to be blurry with games, specially with games plagued with bloom, I think its because this monitor has a protection layer and it's a little slow.
Well, here are the pics!:

Thanx!

Has anyone tried using a PS3 on this thing? I've already tried an Xbox 360 on this, but the PS3 is a mystery. Not as much info available on it, and I tried a search to no avail.

I hear ya ochentay4! I've had this money for about 2 years now. It's served me very well for everything! But Now that I find 20" veryyy small and much cheaper monitors that are 21"+ coming out these days with less then 8ms. I think its time to upgrade to something a bid more [H]ard (2407) :D!

I agree as well... 20" just seems to be really small these days!! Remember when a 13" crt seemed kinda big? Hmmm... I mean 18" haha... but yeah, even a 30" should be pretty good huh?

Hell yeah!:), Im trying to sell it to buy a DELL E248WFPW. I know that its not the best LCD, but its the best I can get in Argentina without getting poor:(. It costs U$S 640 !!! and its the cheapest 24".

Anyway, here comes an update it will rock your socks off :D.

I tried to install Ubuntu 7.10 and the Nvidia Driver, and guess what? yeah, thats right, my DVI connection died !!!.
I didnt want to believe so I installed openSUSE 10.3, and FEDORA 8, only to get 640x480.
Then, I booted VISTA and XP and DVI was obviously gone. I could see DOS and BIOS even 1280x1024 at SAFE MODE but not 1680x1050. Tried EVEY FKING METHOD ON THE NET, disconnecting, connecting 2 cables, factory mode, unplugging the power... recovery cd... the did not work at all.

I read somewhere that Nvidia drivers on linux MODIFY the EDID data on THIS lcd (why please tell me why!!!) and it corrupts it !!! . So, when I went back to Vista or XP, I could not get image, only this beautiful message: OUT OF RANGE.

Well, after more reading found that Phoenix EDID Designer v1.3 can edit EDIDs, so the problem was getting a good one and flashing it to it. Well, every connection has its own EDID, so, booted with VGA, read the edid, chaged it to DIGITAL and FLASHED IT to EEPROM PORT #2 with PowerStrip v3.75, and it worked. Problem solved.

To sum all:

ViewSonic VX2025wm DVI problem ( EDID corrupted = no 1680x1050 ) SOLUTION :

1. Try every other method before (search the internet) because this is RISKY.
2. Download the following:
- POWERSTRIP v3.75 (ITS NOT FREE, BUY IT)
- Phoenix EDID Designer v1.3 (IT APPEARS TO BE FREE; TELL ME IF IM WRONG)
3. Conenct VGA Cable, disconnect DVI, start Windows.
4. Read your VGA EDID, change it to DIGITAL, then SAVE IT.

5. Open POWERSTRIP v3.75, go to OPTIONS, then to MONITOR INFORMATION, then to OPTIONS, then UPDATE EDID, then SELECT to update EDID, it will say that there is NO CORRECT EDID, then SCAN BUS, and then FLASH the .DAT file I provided to PORT #2.

Well, this is it. It worked for me, I swear I will not test any LINUX distro again with DVI.
I don't know who to HATE. I don't know if its VIEWSONIC, NVIDIA or LINUS fault. I only know this is an absolute HORRID bug that affected A LOT OF PEOPLE.

One thing, the XBOX 360 ELITE apparently DOESN'T NEED TO READ the EDID, because it LITERALLY THROWS the IMAGE over HDMI without detecting the display properties. So I could see a perfect image on ANY resolution Except the last one (1920x1080) that this lcd DOES NOT support EVEN my monitor didn't have a valid EDID.

Well, bye bye!!!

ONE MORE EXTRA THING: It would be AWESOME that people who has a WORKING DVI CONNECTION (not flashed EDID, only ORIGINAL) post a WORKING EDID file to download (remember to ERASE the SERIAL NUMBER OF YOUR LCD) to COMPARE, because I'm not sure that my solution is perfect because I EXTRACTED IT from the VGA port, and they could not be the same.

this monitor DOESN'T SUPPORT HDCP OVER DVI, so PS3 over DVI on VM2025wm is a dead end.

So, just for gaming, the PS3 requires a HDCP monitor? That's sort of annoying.
If you want to connect the PS3 to a digital device using HDMI port it is mandatory to have HDPC compliant device. Its because of BlueRay specs. I think HDDVD requires it also.

I know this thread is ancient, but i had a vx2025 collecting dust, thanks to ochentay4, it's ALIVE!

I'm freaking happy, damn viewsonic, thank you hard!

You are welcome my friend!
I'm still looking for a new monitor because 20" is not sufficient for me ;). I changed my mind and now I want a DELL 2408WFP. The only thing that bugs me is that I really want to know if it supports 1080p protected content over HDMI or DVI-D... guess I will try to find it on the forum.

After having this monitor for 2 years I just recently noticed these strange streaks as if someone smeared it with wet finger. The panel is perfectly clean on the outside. The streaks are only visible against gray backgrounds (not seen against white or black areas).
Has anyone here seen anything like this?

Hey all, I just had my friend come over who has an eye-one xt calibrator, we tinkered around for about half an hour and I think we managed to get the colors close to perfect so here are the settings.

Red 95
Green 95
Blue 97

Contrast 74
Brightness 54

You will also need to download and use this icc color profile, then you colors should look pretty close to perfect, of course every monitor is different so your mileage may vary.

Heres the link to the file:

Btw this profile was made for a mac, so im not sure how to use it on a windows box
The gamma is also set at 2.2 the pc standard and where it should be for color accurate photo editing.

Hope this helps

I know this is a very long shot but could someone upload this ICC profile please? it´s no longer available at current location.
