Screens not really that small, I just shrunk it down so it's not massive and messing up the page.

yes, it's windows XP, I just use the old theme.

Pagan, I downloaded an image of a PCB and tweaked it in Irfanview & MSPaint. The Samurize config is specific to my zipcode. If you like, I can certainly e-mail you the PCB .jpeg. IM me with details.

I actually don't have anything on my desktop but this is an easy way to do it in windows. I just use windows+r to launch desktop. To launch programs just dump them in your user folder and you can type the shortcut name in the run bar to launch it. Clicking takes too long so that is why I launch everything with run commands.

firefox does the run command thing by default so have fun.

I use a program called poplaunch. It's a quick launch bar that is triggered by mousing over a single pixel in the extreme upper left corner of the screen.

Wait. What do you possibly mean by that?
Are you saying it takes less time to type a command than it does to click an icon?

I guarantee I can click faster than anyone can type a command.

idk, my buddy can navigate windows a hell of a lot faster than me using hotkeys. its pretty ridiculous, i wish i had the talent

select all and click delete when the menu opens!! :)

Ha. That's one way to do it. I only 7 icons on mine and that's usually not considered "clean" by most. I use the quick-launch menu for a lot of icons I use the most, and the standard "start -> programs" for the rest. I also put a bunch of crap in my "My Documents" folder, for easy access but keeps my desktop clean.

The only icons I feel should be on a desktop are temporary (waiting to be moved/deleted/installed/etc) and stuff you absolutely use 99% of the time, such as Firefox and CCleaner (like on mine), along with the standard Windows icons (ex. Trash)...

sure maybe one command. But can you do this with clicking "firefox site1.com site2.org site3.net" (My firefox just launced with 3 tabs). I never have to touch the start menu, look for icons on my desktop, opening up directories is also a sinch.

edit: the default commands work on all computers so if you are on an unfamiliar desktop you don't have to search for anything.

Still, I can click bookmarks and hit Ctrl-T faster than typing all that...
It's just not possible to type several sentences in the same time that it takes me to click 7 times. (one to open firefox, and 2 per bookmark)

If you download launchy, your typing goes way faster, it uses a predictive search so intead of having to hit Win+r. then firefox, just hit your launchy command (alt+esc for me) and start typing, by the time you type fir (or fox, or ffx, etc.), it'll know you want firefox.

I don't want to veer to far off topic but it is not several sentences at the same time it is one line and it doesn't have to be bookedmarked. You must type slowly...also you have to wait for firefox to open when you do it your way....

run commands do the same thing because I don't wipe my history and I don't have that many programs so I think I am okay ;)

Since I still use my taskbar I just do the quicklaunch for my desktop. Allows me to load what I want and still copy/delete whatever.

And... it is clean :)

No need for a CCleaner icon -- just have it install in to the right-click menu on the recycle bin. :)
