I just came from the Mason City, Iowa Best Buy... and picked up 7 750 GB seagate Free Agent Pro drives for $56 each... Now be warned this is a serious YMMV as I called all the other three Best Buy stores in my area and NONE of them had the deal...

that'll be profitable on ebay, nice score.

People are claiming some stores have it marked at $161 but it rings up @ $54...

Another store has 8 for $161, I might try to get 4 for $54... :)

I would love to grab one of these for my DVR. Anyone reselling them for not a complete ebay retail price? Hookup a fellow [H] forum user? :)

My BB never has these deals, I dont even bother checking anymore.

Two buddies and I just picked up 6 at Fox Point store in Milwaukee. They are all sold out now, and none of the stores in Milwaukee area will price match ftl.

Impossible to find for $53 in CA. Rings up $161.00 or higher.... so I bought one from a hoarder (like ^^^^) for $100

Not my receipt, but I hope it works out for you and you find a few.

(yes this is the 500gb version box...)

The Store in Waterloo IA has them for ~150 they had 2 or 3. I've been there twice in the last 2 days I'm not going back unless somebody can verify that they are ringing up at 54.

I highly recommend that you go to the store in person. Don't do price checks over the phone. Don't place online orders. Do your price checking after you have all the drives you want in your hands at the store.

Online orders will fail as out-of-stock (via email) after completing successfully at the website. If you call a store for a stock and price check they'll be out of stock by the time you get there. That was my experience with six stores local to me.

Just wanted to say thanks to OP for the post.

I am also curious if anyone has been able to crack one of these open? I have been trying to, but two of the screws are so freaking tiny. It almost looks like the drive will slide right out the middle, but can't be sure.

161 here. had 2 different clerks scan it. no $54 deal. Called another best buy within 30miles. Still 161.00

:(

im in cedar rapids ia. Didnt check but our bb never has these deals. I go there everytime to check.

That 160gb laptop drive for 27 was 56 here. I bought one and waiting for it to go down.

None in Puyallup, WA. Only 750GB model (eSATA/USB) in stock was ~$250 or whatever the list was. They had a spot for the 500GB model w/ a ~$40 pricetag but no product.

I checked the one here in Huntsville, AL, but they only had them going for $270. I'll check again tomorrow if I get time.

i was able to grab the last one @ the murrieta, CA store.
i called and they had 9 in stock @ 53.99, took me 10 minutes
to drive there, by the time i got there, only 1 left.

the price tag was yellow and did say clearance on the shelf.

Springfield, IL

I went and looked at ours, had someone ring it up to check.... $269

lol

At 8:30pm I checked the Best Buy in Puyallup, WA and a price check showed full retail price.
I then checked out the Best Buy in Tacoma, WA and they had 6 in stock.
I only had enough money on me for 3 of them, otherwise I would have grabbed them all.

Note: The marked price on the shelf was the full retail price. The discount wasn't shown until they rang it up at checkout. Also, I had called before going to that store and they claimed that they were not on clearance, and even while in the store, I asked someone in that department and he said that he didn't think they were on clearance.
So if you are gonna give it a go, make sure you actually go to your local Best Buy, don't rely on the results from a phone call. And when you are in the store, have then run a price check on the drive if you can find it, or just give them the SKU, because you think it's on clearance. And if you want more than they have on display, ask them if they have more in stock in the back, because that was the case for me, only one on the floor, five in the back.

I'm happy with my purchase :D

i'm in seattle
chances a store is gonna have these in stock tomorrow?

quick question, are these sata or ide? I would like to rip em out of the enclosure and use em in a raid array.

damnit... i really want this to go with my new HDBits account :(

wanna know if its worth driving to northgate, southcenter, bellevue

Why are you people calling the stores? It's no coincidence that they seem to be out of stock by the time you get there...

NEVER call BB (or almost any other consumer electronics store) for a price check on an item that could be profitable on ebay.

yeah I'm shooting over to my bb in about an hour or so to see if they have any.. great deal

Please every time you mention your atempt PLEASE include which store. Make informative posts.
