Let me start off by saying I know WoW has like 80 bagillion people playing it. I know its still very popular.. this post is just the thoughts of an old school WoW player upset with the new game.
I loved 1-60.. The world was great, the instances were fun, the stories/lure was interesting.. etc...
Raiding at 60 was a blast as well, MC was awesome (at first) and BWL was probably my favorite instance in the game. Even AQ, NAXX, ZG, Ony were extremely well done and were fun.
Bam TBC hits the floor and everything goes haywire.
There are a few major reasons why I believe TBC was destroyed WoW.
1) Arenas- A lot of people are going to disagree with me here, but IMO the simplicity of obtaining arena gear was the main factor that destroyed WoW. Whats the incentive of raiding (unless you can clear BT) when you can play 30 minutes a week and in a couple months be decked out in epic weps that match the high end raiding gear. I have no problem with some gear being available by pvp, but when i realized how easy it was to get arena epics.. i was stunned. The main incentive for many ppl to raid in original WoW was to get gear to own at pvp.. now any dumbas* with 30 spare minutes on his hand can gain access to the best gear.
2) Raiding/PvE Content- Old school WoW raiding was fun.. The new instances feel trite and boring. Making boss encounters extremely technical (where one person messes up the whole grp is fu*ked) does not make them innovative or fun. Idk, i guess i just miss the epic experience of a 40 man raid.. not the every player counts aspect of 10-25 man raids.
3) Outlands- I'm sorry.. the outlands sucks. This game has gone from having an awesome fantasy world to having some sort of sci-fi space/fantasy mess mix. It doesn't work. Bring back old Azeroth.. or at least make more new content in Azeroth so its not just stop by in SW to check the AH.
Theres a couple more, but I feel that TBC has just taken the fun out of WoW... If blizzard brought back a pre TBC server I would reactivate in a second.
Anyone have thoughts on this?
