Well this is unexpected - Microsoft cuts the price of Vista

Wish it was on more than just upgrade in the US, but oh well. Good for the guys planning to use upgrade. I'm thinking I'll still go full version oem because of the price difference.

Interesting, but bear in mind this is only MSRP. I've been able to get Ultimate at my local Fry's for $129 during their weekend sales for a long time now.

As long as you're using the original media to install, then patching to SP1, I don't think they could "fix" it.

In the long run, I bet they're just happy you are buying the software, be it an upgrade or a full install. ;)

Retail sales of Vista have been horrible, so a price cut isn't unexpected. Cutting the prices on those versions will have little effect on overall revenue.

I wonder if system builder copies will also get a price cut. You have been able to get Vista Ultimate OEM (full install, not upgrade) for ~$170-$180 since release.

I would maybe get it if they paid me $219 to use Ultimate. Eh, probably not.

Instead of price drops, how about giving us Ultimate users more freebies? Just poker and animated wallpapers aren't going to cut it.

upgrade from xp why. How about an upgrade form NT or win 2000 which still run. Would be nice to upgrade one of those.
