What is your favourite RPG of all time??
Personally the best RPG that i have played would be the baldurs gate sereis for the PC its awesome:):D

Best RPG of ALL time would have to be Planescape:Torment but Fallout I and II are close contenders

I also vote for planescape. Baldurs gate 1+2 were darn good as well. Not to forget the golden box series from SSI back in the days.

Never really got into the fallout universe for some reason. Oblivion doesn't even come close in terms of roleplaying champ.

Neverwinter Nights has acutally more than the 2 that came out rather recently. One come out in the 90ies(or 80ies, not sure) and was part of the GoldenBox series and was an aweseom RPG. Neverwinter Nights I (modern version) was also pretty good, even if only for the countless mods. NWN2 was dissappointing as far as I'm concerned.

Sure why not? They're not bad or anything...just not the best imho. They're cheap now, too.

Icewind Dale were good. Diablo 1+2 i don't even consider a role playing game really....

Oblivion is a faux-RPG ;)

i think that's why i like it

then again i like fable too... assassin rush is soooo friggin sweet

other than that i'm not much of an RPG guy... i did like that 'ol windows game Castle of the Winds... which i think is abandonware now and you can get it for free.... hmm... should go download it

and do you all remember "Castle" ? the old ascii RPG? that is one of the first games i remember from my childhood... playing it with my sisters in the basement on the IBM 286

EDIT: link to castle of the winds full version windows game, you could totally play it at work if you have a boring job: http://www.classicdosgames.com/epic/castl11a.zip

yep Planescape had the best story ever! i would like to see a remake of that game.

For me Final Fantasy 3 for the SNES was the best RPG. I also enjoyed games like FF7, Chrono Trigger, and Secret of Mana. More recently I am really enjoying the Witcher. I am only on act 2, so I cant give it a full review, but its great so far.

Dreamfall gets my vote as best RPG. It had an amazingly imaginative storyline.

Fallout 1 was excellent. I never played Fallout 2, but will do so in anticipation of Fallout 3 later this year. From my understanding, FO3 takes place many years after 1 & 2.

I never played Planescape Torment, either. I'll hafta check eBay for a cheap PT one of these days.

Vaguely, though I'm not sure the one I played was titled "Castle". I believe it was, though. My memories of those days are a bit...hazy.

I do, and I will. Thanks.

I actually enjoy playing FO2 a bit more than FO1, even though the original seems more consistent and a bit more serious (which I prefer). Black Isle ramped up the humour aspect quite a bit with FO2, and a number of characters and situations are too closely related to pop culture for my taste. There are a number of little refinements that make the first game tedious to play in comparison, though.

Most people who've played both through a number of times will probably say the same thing, I figure.

Probably a toss up between Final Fantasy 3(6) on the SNES or Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne for the PS2.

I have Planescape: Torment in my collection somewhere but haven't had time to try it.

FF7 with FF6 on SNES running a very close second (loved the two-player mode).

Fallout sits atop my list of best RPGs ever, with Fallout 2, System Shock 2, Baldur's Gate and Knights of the Old Republic close behind. Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 get an honorable mention due to their community generated content.

I'm not sure where it falls, but I liked the Betrayal at Krondor game a lot back in the mid 90s. Still one of my favorite games.

Arcanum!

For one reason and one reason only, you can visit a whore house and actually select a 'sheep' this RPG gold in my opinion, not because i want to F a sheep, because it was diverse, which most RPGs lack, they say they are RPGs but yet they have skate on rails and follow a specific path usually, well maybe that is JRPGs lol.

Showing my age now - Ultima VII - The Serpent Isle. Hundreds of hours of RPG perfection

I would have to say Planescape: Torment because the story is so vastly superior to anything else out there. The next best storyline is probably Fallout, and I didn't think the BG games even came close. I fail to see why people are so enamoured of them.

Xenogears. Played both Baldur's Gates games and the BGII expansion, can't even say I even remember what the storylines were.

Xenogears, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, in that order.

Console: Chrono Trigger & FF6

PC: Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 and their respective expansions, with honorable mention for Planescape Torment.

All Time Best: Baldur's Gate 2.
