First of all, I don't really know where I should've posted this--or whether there's even an appropriate sub-forum for this to go--so, moderators, feel free to move/delete if necessary.

I'm thinking of getting a new chair. I've tried various leather chairs but I just don't think they cut it. The backs on most of these are positioned too far back so when I'm in an upright position I might as well just be sitting on a stool. Therefore I think I'm going to get a mesh chair which has a synchronous mechanism so, when it reclines, the back moves twice as far as the seat.

I've narrowed it down to these 3:
Ergo Mesh - £150
- Adjustable lumbar support
- Height adjustable arms
- Adjustable headrest (I think)
- Synchro mechanism


Fulkrum - £240
- Adjustable lumbar support
- 2-way adjustable arms
- Adjustable headrest
- Leather seat
- Synchro mechanism
- Knee tilt mechanism


Fulkrum 2 - £270
- Adjustable lumbar support
- 4-way adjustable arms
- Adjustable headrest
- Leather seat
- Synchro mechanism
- Knee tilt mechanism
- Chrome base


I'd rather not spend £270 on just a chair, but I suppose I could stretch that far. What do you guys think of this selection?
 
They all look like pretty good options to me. I think if you were looking at option 2, then you should just go ahead with option 3 since the price difference isn't that much.

Very comfortable padding in the seat. Racing styled body that supports me very well. 4 way adjustable arms. Height and tilt adjustments. Cost me $150 US.
 
Thank you for your reply. I think I'm going to have to agree with you. If I do decide to spend this much on a chair, I might as well spend the extra £30 to get the better model otherwise I'll probably end up wishing I had done sometime down the road. However, I'm still considering the £240 chair, and of course the £150.

Any more input would be great.
 
this may sound kind of stupid or obvious but why not go to the shop sit on each chair and just buy the one that is most comfortable.

Any advice you get here for a chair is pointless due to different body sizes and preferences.

I appreciate your advice, and it doesn't sound stupid at all, but around here there isn't really anywhere I can try chairs. There's one office supply store really, but the selection is very limited and they don't stock any mesh chairs. Therefore I have to base my decision on the opinions of others, unfortunately.
 
I got a ergohuman mesh chair. I chose this because of the mesh seat to keep my bottom cool. :cool:

Im 5"8 and it sits alittle high for me but its very comfortable.

Mmm, I really like the Ergohuman chairs but they're £430 over here in the UK. That's a little more than I'm willing to spend on a chair I think.
 
But OMG those mesh ergohuman chairs are so comfortable... even more so than my $1300 leather chair I have in my living room. I have honestly never felt that good in a chair :eek:

It was said multiple times by so many people in the huge Ergohuman chair thread in hotdeals and I'll say it again here: spending that much on a chair is well worth it in the long wrong run when it helps prevent serious back problems that would have been caused by a cheaper chair. Getting a chair that will last you years to come and will be extremely cofortable to sit in 8+ hours a day makes it easily worth the initially large investment. Your body will definitely thank you 10 years from now.

Oh, and that Ergo Mesh chair is extremely uncomfortable. I tried one out in an Office Max when I was looking at new chairs and didn't even give it a second thought. I tried playing with it and adjusting it some in the store, but nothing made it feel any better. It's a very poor attempt at a mesh chair when there are such nicer options available.

I was going to get Aeron but they did'nt have the head rest. Imagine sitting on a hammock, thats what I feel like when I sit on my ergohuman chair. I spend alot of time on my computer and my chair gets used big time. The mesh botton definitely helps. The only down side I can think of is when I fart it goes straight thru instead of trapping the smell in the seat cushions :p

LMAO... that's better than the smell remaining with you in my opinion... they should list that as an additional feature of the chair :D
 
i used to sit on a cheap 50 dollar faux leather office chair, the kind that starts wearing out after 8 months. anyhow farting in that thing could make the loudest squeaky fart known to man. it was like farting into a speaker
 
I think mixing leather seat with mesh just kill the whole idea of using mesh ...

lol. I used to have a mesh chair but it just doesn't feel sturdy enough to me.
