Is it possible to recover deleted files?

I just deleted some files off my computer that I need back, is there a way I can recover them?
 
There are programs that will recover deleted files, however, there are no guarantees they will recover all of them if any. Try not to use that machine until you find some software you want to try, as the data may be overwritten. O&O Software makes a data recovery tool, though it is not free and I am not sure how effective it is. Good luck.
 
Recuva for free, GetDataBack for commercial, see which one suits you better
 
If you have vista there's always previous versions which is possibly one of my favorite features, for XP, see above.
 
Freeundelete by officerecovery.com. Like others said, there is no guaranteed way without shipping it off to a data center for a $2000 recovery. But this program has worked pretty well for me.
 
If you can, install one of these programs to a different partition and use the machine as little as possible until you try the recovery - the less the hard drive is 'disturbed' the lower the chance that something will be written over your data.
 
I accidently deleted a lot of data on my media drive, you dont want to know how much. I used getdataback and I was able to recover all of it.

Ofcourse it was a seperate drive, and I had only deleted the drive not formatted. Also I turned off any services on that drive that would take up metadata.

I can vouch for getdataback
 
I'm not sure about the others, but Recuva has a portable version, and I use it on my PortableApps flash drive. That eliminates the "issue" of installing it on the same partition you need to recover data from.

Restoration is portable as well. And the only way I know of getting Recuva as a portable is to install it first and then copy the .exe...or get the .exe from someone else. Which is a complete pain. You don't need to worry about this with Restoration.
