Dell 3008FWP for under $$1500!!!

Gee wiz. Do you get a bottle of bubbly with it? I don't think my entire setup cost 1,500. I'm not saying you guys are wasting your money or anything, just that I'm jealous as hell!!! Well hopefully one day I will be so fortunate. In the mean time I'll just have to be smitten with my 20.1 in. Samsung. Which I still get compliments for. :)

Well it is either purchase devices like this to improve my productivity or hand it to the government to give to lazy turds that sit in subsidized housing , have food stamps and have the nerve to load thier 400 dollars worth of free groceries into thier Cadilac Excalade and drive home to thier 3 floor townhouse that my tax dollars pay for.

I opt for investing in my business :)

Hot deal!!!!!!!

Thanks so much.

called lisa at around 10AM today.

She got me all setup. Nice person, and she really hooked my up! The hot deal thread is closed....but i think it should still be open....I had no problems ordering today.

Thanks so much to the op.

:D

As a follow up to my own post:

I did get an E-mail the following day and the price did go up to $1640 as well. Still not a big deal really as I had intended on purchasing the monitor anyways. Either way I am saving and will be happy with my monitor. After reading the two review out there so far, it looks like a little time with the Eye-One Display2 is in order right off.

Again thanks Mike, even with the increased price it is still worth it .. to me.

You know that does kind of suck maybe i should have my lawyer give Dell a call, i saved all the emails ........she is so nice I would feel bad getting her in trouble though

I don't think she should get in trouble either.... Unless there is some kind of rule she broke by doing that. If they don't want their employees to offer too low a price on something they should put something in the system such as "Minimum price $1640" that she wouldn't be able to override without the authorization of a supervisor or something.

If they allow their reps to set any price and have them fly by the seat of their pants with no rules, then they can't bitch when one of the reps lowballs all of the other ones on price. :D

It may not be right or fair for her to get into trouble, but she most likely will - that's just how corporations work, unfortunately. I hope people who got a price increase to $1644 don't create a stink - it will just get her into deeper trouble, and we'll lose a rep that offers decent discounts. Also, what happens if Dell gets really pissed about the whole thing, and then maybe we can kiss $1644 goodbye too, and have to fork out $1999. Just let it be. $1644 is almost a 20% discount which is not bad at all. Sure, this monitor will be selling for $1200 in a few months, but that's the way it is with technology.

Hey guys, I have established a relationship with a nice young lady at Dell

Thank you for Choosing Dell. Have a Great Day!

You want to get a lawyer involved over $100? With a lady who offered a 20% discount on a brand new monitor on accident, and continues to honor it? Pardon me, but that's very assholish. Biting the hand that feeds you all. Tsk tsk, don't be surprised if they don't offer public discounts anymore via reps.

Not only that but the lawyer will cost more than the $100 you would save. Unless you do it "for the principal of the thing", which usually is just like a baby's tempter tantrum.

I think we can consider the thread dead ..................

I for one will be waiting another month to see if the price drops as my ability to pay cash has changed in view of a fractured tooth

WTF , 1530 and change for crown, what is that all about? 531 after insurance. Dam thats a video card.

I think i will study to be a dentist:D There appears to be real money in such a gig

Sorry to hear it; Crowns are considered cosmetic which is of course an excuse for covering a lesser percentage. The worst part is the temporary cap. It is like having a bottle cap in your moth.

I agree that a wait and see approach is the best way to go. HP, NEC, and Samsung are due to field new 30 in. models. I would like to see all of the options and feedback from people who have these new models before dropping close to $2k.

Best of luck

Dave

Dude, take public transportation to work and get rid of the freekin moneypit and pollution machine that you call "a car." I have been taking public transportation to work (VTA in silicon valley) for last 3 years and get free annual passes from work. I figure I save atleast $500 a month on car payments, gas, insurance, and car maintence etc.

Plus my wife who takes the car everyday to work just bought a 50" plasma HDTV, so I figure I deserve a Sony Playstation III and a 30" monitor specially when my small website , that flies under IRS radar, makes enough money to significantly subsidise my hardware costs.

I spend most of my time staring at my monitor (probably 10 hours AT LEAST), another 4-5 hours staring at my wife, and 8 hours sleeping with my wife on the bed :D. So the way I figure it is that if I invest in a good monitor, matteress, and wife - not necessarily in that order, I will be all set.

Priceless:cool:

LOL, well you just might see a 3008 thread but i am content with my g92 gts for now. I went quad last time and while it was better than has been represented in the press, I was very dissappointed at nvidia for essentialy abandoning it. I am going to be in a holding pattern on the video card end of things until I see something ground breaking. Thats my story and I am sticking to it. lol

I can confirm this deal as of the 9th of January. I called Lisa and she was extremely helpful. She quoted be $1640 and free overnight shipping. Not bad! :)

Thanks for the tip!

I'll definitely be dealing with Lisa for future Dell purchases

Dell shipped my 3008WFP today, but the problem is that I had canceled it yesterday. The price I am paying so far is $1989. Hopefully I will be able to get in touch with Lisa over phone tomorrow and sort it out. Otherwise the monitor is going back :(. I don't know if I should even open the box when it comes :(

what ever you do do not freak out and ruin it for everyone else,

what are the requirements to run this beast?

Well, besides having the money to purchase one, you need a computer with video output. But really, to use it at 2560x1600 and not just some scaled up res, you need a Dual-Link DVI output.

Or a video card with a display port out if I understand display port correctly

Thats my story and i am sticking to it

PS: She also has a deal on a 1080p lcd TV. I have a Dlp and am not sure if the Sony deal is a good one but i posted it anyway at her request

Not yet :) But when i do , assuming the forum is not already saturated with 3008 threads, i will post a thread with lots of Pics

I got mine dell refurbished from ebay for $800, the A03 version I think it is. It came packaged so well, I wouldn't have been able to differentiate it from a brand new one. All cables, all manuals, protective stickers, foam and the like, and dell warranty, too...

PIcked up mine, brand new in a box on craigslist for $750 :) with warranty in my name.
Local dealer, he had quite a few more at his shop.

I got the same deal this morning.

did you get 1 year warranty or 3 year from that ebay seller. I dont understand how is that seller can get refurbished monitors when on the official dell.com/outlet site they dont list them at all.
