The Dell 3008 WFP 30" with HDMI, DisplayPort and loads of other goodies is now available for $2034. It's not on Dell's product pages yet but a search for '3008wfp' on the Dell.com search bar reveals this product.

Free 2-day shipping on this product as well!

$2034  Santa - You know what I want now. I prefer front-door delivery over chimney delivery.

Yeah, too bad it doesn't come with a resolution larger than 2560x1600 (not that we would be able to read anything that tiny or play Crysis at higher resolutions) but we can always dream :p.

NEC is going to announce their 30" NEC LCD3090QXi in Jan. It will have 102% of Adobe scale. My spies in NEC tell me that it will be priced from $2000 to $2500.

I am planning to wait for NEC LCD3090QXi to come out before I get my 30".

Peace.

Im thinking that a lot of people on this board is noticing that 1st revisions of every monitor has its gremlins.

The Dell New Zealand website claims that it has 117% of the NTSC gamut. I know Adobe scales are different from the NTSC gamut scale but I would assume it is has a pretty high Adobe scale as well. NECs are targeted at a different market (imo), specifically graphical designers (professional markets) who need color accuracy. The Dell is probably targeted there but still gets some demand from good old gamers in the consumer sector.

My guess of 2,000 was right on the money...Now all we need is for some peeps to buy it and review the sucker. I do hope the scaler chip is good, otherwise the price of this monitor just can't be justified.

Ya dell is pretty cool too and I am pretty temped to click a few mouse buttons and buy this s*** now, but will wait until Jan (hopefully).

I would bet $5 that it falls to $1,800 in a couple of months.

Just ordered the damn thing for $1830 (before taxes and free 2-day shipping). Make sure you get the 10% discount coupon from eBay. It knocks of the price by $200.

Has been waiting to buy a 30" for a while now. I was planning to wait for NEC 30" to come out, but thats too long of a wait. Hope I don't regret ordering 3008.

Let's see how far the 3007-HC's price drops, now that its successor is out. I'm not spending over $1400 for ANY monitor, but a 3007 for around $1000 would be tough to resist.

Based on what I read about the latest and greatest LCD's, the 3008's Hidef and hi-res performance should be very good.....it also has the option to run at 1920x1200, so it would be interesting to know how DVD/HDTV and games perform at that res.

I think a 30incher on a PC would not only be awesome, it'd be about as big as you'd want to go without making a heap of adjustments, but I gotta say, 1600p scares the hell out of me....to me, the res is aimed at office pro's, but not as a specific MM device.

I'd love a 30@1920x1200 with just DVI, strictly a PC MM monitor....it would be much cheaper than the 3008, and IMO, would be a dream for everything MM.....now, maybe someone will buy the 3008 and tell me that DVD/720p HDTV look good-outstanding, but until I hear that, it's off my wish list.

I just bought the $200 off Coupon from eBay. Search on "Dell Coupon". You will not find it if you search for 3008wfp. It cost just under $5.00, and is good until March 2, 2008. It can be used for just about anything other than desktops and laptops and some LCD, which are listed on the eBay listing.

I plan to wait until mid Feb to buy this. Hopefully I will see a lot of feedback from early adopters by then.

Thanks for the tip

Dave

EDIT

It looks like they took the order page down: http://configure.us.dell.com/dellsto...kc=&oc=3008wfp

/EDIT

Damn that's expensive. I could build a whole new top of the line rig with a nice 24" monitor for that much! Looks enticing, but I don't have that kind of dough at the moment.

Apparently those who ordered it from Dell are on some kind of waiting list like a pre-order. I was supposed to get mine tomorrow since they gave me free overnight shipping, but it was pushed back because the monitor was posted too early on the site. I actually ordered over the phone and even the agent, helping me had a little problems placing the order since it was difficult to find in the system.

My ship date is tomorrow. Hopefully it will ship, but if it doesn't ship by end of the week, I will probably cancel the order.

Doubtful. They would of mentioned an important and wanted feature like that. It would be like not mentioning it has DisplayPort or an S-IPS panel on it.

Faroudja may be a deal breaker for some... like me who will plug a 360 and a TiVo into it :(

Its generally regarded as a poor scaler, at least as opposed to the Realta. It would be like Dell building their new XPS gaming boxes with a Creative Labs Audigy instead of an X-Fi. Any 1080 source like the TiVo or XBOX will need to be scaled to 1600p. Now the Faroudja may be good enough but it definitely makes me want to see the 3008 and Gateway's XHD3000 side by side. I heard the 3008 isn't even going to be announced 'til CES in January so we probably wont know for sure 'til then.

Please let us know if it ships. Yesterday, Dell removed the 3008WFP from the Home site, and today they removed it from the Small Business site as well. I'd be surprised if they actually have any units in stock. I'd also expect the price to go down rapidly since it's a replacement for the 3007WFP which is priced much lower. Also, most other 30" monitors on the market are priced lower.

So, anyone very interested in resolution scaling should probably look into the Gateway, then.

I cannot seem to find the unit on the dell site, are you guys at teh US site or is this available in another country?

Not sure if this will help anyone in the US, but it looks like Dell Canada will have the 3008WFP available for $1299.99 as part of its boxing week deals starting tomorrow.

Very nice, check out these images that can be made larger, this is a really sweet looking LCD, hands down the best around. The design is artwork, and the image will be the best ever for a PC Monitor. Well until 2009/2010 when the next generations stuff comes out

So they have the monitor on the spot, and they don't even hook it up to a computer to see what it actually looks like? LOL.

If we can get them for 1299 here I'll take one or two. Otherwise, I'll stick with my triple 3007's.

Talked to dell online customer support. The ship date for Dell 3008WFP that I ordered on 18th has now been delayed until Jan 2nd. Grrrrr, time to go to dell and bite them. Trying to get some info on new NEC 30" also, but no word yet.

Dell Canada is not readily selling the monitor. It's currently being "fixed" or something and I'm to be contacted in 5-7 days.
