Intel Q6600 + ECS board $198.99 AR @ Frys BLACK FRIDAY

I never saw a $50 Buffalo 500gb external deal? Are you sure it wasn't the $80 one?
My bad, this was a typo, yes I got it for $80.
The 671T-M will actually work fine with the Q6600 at stock speeds, just don't expect much o/c room at all.
Thanks Falcon for clearing that up.

Fry's Anaheim was surprisingly more organized compared to City of Industry and Fountain Valley - those places are full of nutcases. I went to FV last year, and some idiot yelled "PUUUUSHHH" towards the corner, and well, that's what everyone did, and by 5:30 AM there were ten police cars and five ambulances because many people got trampled...it was pretty sad actually.

Anyway, this year everyone waiting in line in Anaheim built a gigantic barricade of carts around the line to keep cutters out. And when the doors opened, they let people in by waves of a hundred or so. No one got hurt, and everyone was happy (well, probably not the people waiting around the back wall of the store).

I didn't even bother with FV location as the wait was 2 1/2 hours just to get into the store at 11am this morning.

Funny thing is by 6am all the really good deals were sold out.

Just getting home from a Fry's. Got the quad and board, then went back and got a different board and some ram, then went back again and was paid by my neighbor to get the garmin 650. I was the second person in line this year, arrived at 3:30pm. The guy in front of me will have his picture in the Seattle Times along with his shopping list. By the time the doors opened, we had 3 police cruisers and a SUV parked along the front of the store to keep the cutters out, with about a dozen officers roaming up and down the length of the line. Freaking awesome!

I went to Fry's 3 times today too. :D The last time was relatively quick to check out. I did that last one to see what was still available.

It's amazing how long some of the stuff lasts. The $15 HP printers still had several on the floor along with the $49 Samsung laser printers and there were still hundreds of $49 320GB hard drives. I saw a lot of cheap sale items left, even some of the better ones like the free after rebate CoolerMaster Mystique cases. Some stuff had little demand, like the $10 remote control helicopters and $20 Audigy 2 cards. Plenty of those left. Weird.

frys in city of industry was insane .

Not surprised at all. Usually its always packed on a regular day; or at least when I go there every now and then. I can only imagine the hellish mobs that occupied it on BF. Are you going upload the video to share? I just love to see San Gabriel Valley residents go crazy.

Keep rubbing this in for those who don't have a Fry's nearby. Thanks.

I actually had a couple things(memory, harddrive and tv tuner) I was going to pick up at Frys in Downers Grove but the line was wrapped around the store twice. They had some good deals but you basically had to waste your whole morning/afternoon shopping and purchasing. I remember 2 years ago I walked in 5 minutes after they opened and picked up a laptop. Maybe the rest of Chicago finally figured out their is a Frys in IL.

GL to everone with your new toys.

P.S. I picked up a Logitech Harmony 880 from Dell and somehow got it the next day via DHL and can't stop reprogramming it.

It wasn't that bad. I waited in the line at Downers Grove for a half hour and got the board and the Core 2 Quad as well as the $5 1GB DDR2 deal without any problems. The guy in front of me inside the store said he just showed up at five and walked in after everyone else. I was out of there within an hour with the mobo, CPU, and RAM, and my sister bought a few Bones box sets.

The ECS motherboard kind of sucks but the combo is way better than my Athlon XP 2400+ and Radeon 8500, even with the board's integrated graphics. But now I haven't got a video card so I can only use one monitor and I'm missing out on some good gaming potential. Has anyone got advice on a good cheap PCI-E card? I'm looking to spend $30-100. buy.com has a few 8600GT cards for ~100 but if there's something comparable within the price range I'd like to hear about it.

i drove by FV later this evening and damn! the parking lot is still full!!!:D
good job for those guys who got the q6600;)

Almost tempted to get a SLACR Quad, and sell my X3210 for $200. Luckily I restrained myself and bought only... a vacuum today.

What, at least my PC will be less dirty inside (vented CM690 FTL!).

city of industry checkout in the morning was ridiculous............. 4 hours? O my.

I got my quad combo though, walked in at 6am, got the combo, waited 4 hours in line just to checkout... sigh...o well G0 stepping so I'll see what this baby can do :)

Fry's Houston had a TON of the CPU/mobo combo's. I came back at 850pm right before closing with some friends and we got 4 more of the $59 AMD BE-2300+ combos as well as scoring myself one of the Q6600 combos in the evening. They also had hundreds of the Maxtor 320GB drives for $49 and were literally trying to push them on us as the store was closing. Very glad I didn't camp for 20+ hours for these :)

I was going to sell the MOBO and tested it out and its DOA . It wont power on .Tried for about two hours.

Fry's dumps so many of those boards a lot of 'em come back. Getting one "brand new" unopened from the factory as part of one of the combo deals is a neat trick if you get lucky. Most are boards that were returned for a variety of reasons, at least here at the Las Vegas location that's the case/situation I keep running into.

Ask the people for a brand new board as part of a combo and in the past I've just gotten odd looks when I point to the white return sticker on the box and the broken seal.

Even so, $199 for a Q6600 boxed retail processor... that's nothing to snub I guess. Just wish I could have grabbed one myself. :p

I was in the front of the line @ 5am and had a laker jacket . Did you see me ? :p and did you see the chick who was dressed in all black and was whiter than white helping in the computer quote line. The chick was gorgeous if I wasn't exhausted from being crushed outside I would have spat game :p FYI: I took two minutes to check out . I'm dead serious not even two minutes . I got my combo and hd and left . I have a new love for asian women because while I was in line I never met more friendly women in my life. Not just their looks but their attitudes lol

wah...
wish NYC has a big deal like that...

thats WORLD guinness book record for that price. 199 AR ?
:D

Sold out by the time I got there at noon, but I did see others with the motherboard during checkout, so I'm assuming the deal was that if you find the motherboard your eligable. However, I did score one of the last IP35-E/E6750 Combos for 199AR. I would have preferred to buy the Q6600 and get the IP35-E seperate online, but found out when I got home the IP35-E is no longer listed on several sites (Assuming being replaced with the IP35-V). So it was a good cheap deal for me.

Well the Fry's in San Diego appeared to have 100s of quads and it didn't appear it was going to run out before closing (I left at like 6pm and there appeared to be aleast 50 quads left).

I got both the Q6600 combo ($200) and the E6850 + IN9 32X MAX combo ($430 + $140 MIR). I was wondering, which one was the better deal? I plan to sell one to my friend and keep one for myself so I am wondering which one I should sell to him. I want to play Crysis and I do not overclock so I heard it may be good to get the E6850 as the quad at 2.4GHZ can bottleneck the game but I heard the quad is more futureproof, what is the better deal? Is the IN9 32X motherboard any good to begin with?

Actually, the Q6600 will be able to process information and rendering better than the 6850 despite the lower GHz because each core will be dedicated to different parts of the graphics rendering. This is only if the game is optimized for quad core though.

The only reason it would bottleneck the game is if the game was not made to run with quad-core, or if there is something else in the system (RAM, HDD, PSU) that cannot keep up with the processor

The Quad isn't "future proof" in the sense that an even huge jump in technology will debut in the near future (unless you're going for the 45nm). But it wont hurt to get it now because more and more programs are becoming able to use all 4 cores and/or 64-bit processing.

Hmm so does that mean the Q6600 is the one I should keep and I should sell my to my friend the E6850 + Motherboard combo?

Which one? San Diego or San Marcos ;)

Is it just me or does anybody else have problems with the 671t-m boards crashing with the q6600?

I got mine set up and running w/ my x1900gt... but when I game for a while it just locks up to and the screen freezes...

Although the last time I actually got a BSOD: IRQ NOT LESS THAN OR EQUAL TO

Anyone else seeing these errors?

The board is nice and cool, speedfan has yet to break 35C... All at stock speeds...

I have an Abit mobo on its way, we will see if that takes care of it...

woot, stuck the q6600 in my DFI 965-S on a thermalright ultra-120

stock volts = 45c load, speedfan reads 15c lower so I used coretemp which gave the correct temp of 15c higher = 45c load on prime95

now to the overclocking... haven't tried much yet.... but we'll see

so far stock voltage ~1.200 3ghz first try, I am happy :)
