Intel Q6600 + ECS board $198.99 AR @ Frys BLACK FRIDAY

The very last thing i did before checkout was to get the $199 Q6600 combo (SLACR sSpec, G0 as expected) and the $20AR OCZ DDR2-800 4-4-4 2GB memory kit. Anyone could have strolled in after the store opened and got one. :p

I got there about 90 minutes before the store opened and got everything I wanted (20 items) except the $44 Philips portable DVD player. That was really my fault. I didn't hide it well enough on Wednesday. Everything else I hid was where I left it. :D

This is one of the better years. I got a ton of stuff for about $500AR including tax.

congrats on your day at frys. wish I had one near by. you lucky B*******.lol. have a great weekend

I'm not done with Fry's yet. :D I'll go back when the line dies down in another hour or two. I live less than 2 blocks away. I might pick up the BE-2300/NF6 combo for $59. I dread going to Toys R Us later today more than going to Fry's.

I can hear a news helicopter outside right now, probably covering how busy all the stores are. There's 2 malls and 3 large sets of stores, excluding Fry's, within 2 blocks of here.

yup, I got in on that quad-core goodness. I was all set to sleep late this year on BF, but alas, my wife picked up the paper and I saw this ad. DOH.

Oh well, saved me a nice bit. :D

Yes, I confirm too that this is a retail box processor.

Mine came in a retail box with G0 stepping as well. There was a sea of 40" and 50" inch Samsung LCD/Plasma tvs when I went to check out. Really amazing to me. This was at the Woodland Hills,CA Fry's store.

hey if anyone is willing to sell or pickup a quad core setup for a guy in colroado (which has no FRYS) plz hook me up :)

Jesus pleezus the Arlington, TX store is a MADHOUSE today.... I feel lucky to have escaped with my life.

It took an hour to check out, but I got the e6750+IP35 deal instead of the q6600, and they had a ton of eVGA 8800gt-s for 269, so I grabbed one of those as well.

Agreed, I'll forward someone an extra few $ if theyll go out of their way to grab me one. :)

I'd do that too. There isn't a Frys by me (I'm in NE Ohio) and would definitely pay a little extra to get on this.

Is this frys deal an early bird special or would it still be in stock?

there should be plenty left, according to the store I went to, over 500 left. good luck to everyone. I don't mind helping you guys out that want one, i'll inform you if i can go back later in the day. I can probably do no more than 2-3.

thanks gram, the thought's definately appreciated, even if you don't do it/i don't get one.

I went to Frys just an hour ago, not to actually buy anything, but just to see the mad house that is black friday. There are no Quads in San Marcos, and even if there were any, the wait in line wouldn't be worth my time.

gramarye that would be uber sweet if u would get me one...

i got PP ready and waiting if u wanna deal :)

i got refs under

ebay and heatware
thereprofsorrows

and i have been a longstanding member... plz hook a [H]Member up if u can :)

So I went back to return some items...

Jod: "How long did you guys wait in line?"
Fools@Fry's: "3hrs 15mins!"

They even had a big smile on their faces! Who does this?

lol; I asked too. Im from Colorado as well. probably just a hint I dont need to spend anymore money

Yup, I got lucky this year. I grabbed one of the last motherboards (the chip was given out at checkout).
And it IS the retail box. Surprisingly, the AMD combo was OEM. The chip was G0 Stepping (Code: *****SLACR)

What's weird is that the mobo doesn't look like its C2Q compatible (havent looked inside yet). I'm just going to use my P5K-E.

I also picked up the $50 Buffalo 500GB external and some Free AR USB drives.

Jod: "How long did you guys wait in line?"
Fools@Fry's: "3hrs 15mins!"

Noob.

I waited in line for 6hrs because it was my first time but I was also out of there within 30 minutes . I also have video of the shoving and pushing and the madness on my phone. The City of Industry (los angeles) Fry's was a madhouse . I thought the buffalo external drive was 80$ ? FYI: Mine is also SLACR :)

Didn't even wait in line, just went to Fry's at 5:00am, they still had 150 of the boards + chips in stock. So I was able to get this combo + my coolermaster 690 case. For a cool $289 after taxes + a $35 mail in rebate for the case. =) Can't wait for the rest of my components.

Oh, I also got SLACR G0 stepping. =) =)

I actually had a couple things(memory, harddrive and tv tuner) I was going to pick up at Frys in Downers Grove but the line was wrapped around the store twice. They had some good deals but you basically had to waste your whole morning/afternoon shopping and purchasing. I remember 2 years ago I walked in 5 minutes after they opened and picked up a laptop. Maybe the rest of Chicago finally figured out their is a Frys in IL.

GL to everone with your new toys.

P.S. I picked up a Logitech Harmony 880 from Dell and somehow got it the next day via DHL and can't stop reprogramming it.

Fountain Valley Orange County @ 0600 was completely wrapped around the building....I said to hell with that. I went home and came back @ noon. Walked in clerk said that he has no combos on hand but look around the store. I walked around for 5 mins found one sitting on a shelf. Walked up CUT IN LINE:eek: checkout in 30 mins LMAO:D

And yes it was retail!!!

just wanted to let you all know that wanted one of these deals like i do... a guy named tazeat was trying to sell me one on here via PM said he wanted 325 shipped i sent a nice response back saying basically if i wanted to pay retail price i would pay newegg NOT HIM!

looking for a deal not a retail priced joke...

My plan worked. Next year, dress up in Fry's attire: white shirt, black tie (or any), black pants, black shoes (no tennis shoes.) I had a friend that worked there so I managed to have him scan his tag for me, and I printed it out (and accompanied it with a plastic name tag thing I had when I volunteered there a few years ago for John Fry, who happens to be in Cleveland with his family this weekend). I even photo shopped my own name on there (not that it matters), walked in through the car-installation department door (not sure if that matters either), and once I got in, I wore my jacket. I think i just looked liked the people that worked there, so that probably helped. I beat the lines, but I still waited quite a long time to checkout. I felt a bit of guilt doing that, so after I checked out, I helped a lady (that works for frys) for about half hour cleaning the mess the people left outside from waiting last night. It's so disgusting, and it's so not right that people didn't bother picking up their trash after themselves. Trash ranged anywhere from the likes of starbucks christmas cups (a lot of them, like 27 I counted) to 7/11 coffee to mcdonalds bags and wrappers, taco bell, trashy sleeping bag, torn-up ads to other BF participating stores, cigarette buds, you name it. Some left their fold chairs along the lines as well, I just left them there. In the end, this was definitely an experience to remember. Sorry for the rant, Good Luck to all.

Okay guys, I just got back. Whats interesting is how I reported they "supposedly" had 500 left (in the system), it made sense to me since the Fry's I go to is the Headquarters of all Fry's branches, their stock is usually loads more than the other stores, plus their shipping station is right there. Can you guys believe this? There is none left. I really think they do have plenty left, there's no way that many people got in on it, they probably set a quota, which made sense, and every company has a right to do that. Anyway, I managed to get 1 when I first went since my friend wanted one. I later find out he went to another fry's with his other friends (which sucks, he didn't even tell me) and snagged one, so this will go to one of you guys. I really want to help each of you guys out, (it's part of the Christmas spirit ;) I'm going to try another branch, and see if i can get a few more. (I wish you guys mentioned it earlier, it would've been so much easier, and my time spent waiting in line would've been so much worth it if I had more items to buy haha) Anyway, I don't want to nor plan to profit from anything, if you can, take care of the shipping, if not, it's understandable. For the one I have right now, I'm not sure what's decision is more appropriate. Choose the first person that posted the question? or first person that PM'd me? The first time over all? this is going to be tough... :\

I never saw a $50 Buffalo 500gb external deal? Are you sure it wasn't the $80 one?

Whats interesting is that they don't just leave combo deals sitting on the shelves like that. You have to go to the Cashier and they get it from you from the locked cage behind them in the front of the store. You'd have to wait in line to obtain a print-out to get one. But awesome, you got one!

Hi guys,
How come nobody is mentioning the Abit IN9-32X-Max w/E6850 (boxed) combo for $298AR ? I think in the end this was easily as good a deal as the Q6600 Combo, given that you get a waaay better MoBo. I decided to go with that. Also picked up two 320GB Maxtor SATA HDs the $20AR 2GB OCZ Memory Deal and Antec Basiq 500W PSU for 8$AR. This will build me my future proof system, and when I buy the second 8800GT I will just upgrade the PSU. Total $480 AR and I got there ca. 9AM ! I have the case, video and optical drives already from the older system, don't need anything better !
Yay for Black Friday, but the 2,5 h checkout line sucked bawls !!!
DK

im pretty sure i was the first to ask...

it would be awesome if u could hook me up but if u dont choose me thats cool man... i wont hold it against u...

I agree. I had my eye on that combo but have my e6600 oc to 3ghz and couldn't pull the trigger!

screw that , I wanted quad core :p
Well yes, if you need 4 cores and have software that can use them that is awesome, but for basic gaming the E6850 still kicks butt !

i know i could use the 4 cores, dvd ripping, encoding, gaming, multi-thread apps like CS3 and all that jazz server applications all that :)

2 cores are not enough for me right now...

once i get a quad me girl is gonna get me dual so she can do some of her CS3 stuff....

Well yeah the mobo is what I got.....I had to get the chip at checkout. You are correct I had to get a printout from the Hard Parts section before I could go checkout. They were the people who told me to look around the store for the board. I just got lucky in finding the board.

The 671T-M will actually work fine with the Q6600 at stock speeds, just don't expect much o/c room at all.

if this is not available online; is there anyone willing to hook any of us up and pick one up for us:D? lmk if there is anyone kind enough to do this for me. thanks

thats funny: i asked if anyone would be willing on the second page of this thread. thats ok though I dont really need one and should probably wait for the new gens of quads.

Congrats on everyones success today!

I'll buy anyone's unwanted ECS boards if they get/got this combo. Just PM me (or email me, see my signature).

$40.95 shipped (1333FSB boards) or $28.95 shipped (1066FSB boards). :)

Joe

Edit: Since I'm getting bombed with offers (which is fine, I can use a pretty much unlimited supply):

If you have less than 50 Heat evals (or any negatives) please expect to ship first (to 55025). My Heat is in my signature (currently 1,697+). eBay refs don't mean anything to me.

I can send you 1 cent via Paypal first so you can easily print a label from there and have my confirmed address.

For your shipping convenience, a flat-rate USPS Priority Mail box with electronic delivery confrimation is $8.95 (you can print a label at www.usps.com). Please make sure you stuff something else in the box with the motherboard so it doesn't bounce around (even if you just use soft Priority Mail envelopes).

I am assuming new, retail motherboard with all accessories and, in most cases, unopened. ;)

Thanks (and enjoy your new Quad!)!
