Long story short:

On 11/4, daqurie promised to sell me 2x1GB OCZ PC3200 DDR 400 RAM.

He agreed to ship first, and I would pay upon receipt, as a result of his poor heat and history of poor packaging.

He promised to send it "ASAP" on the 4th.

On the 6th, I asked him if he shipped it yet. He responded that he hadn't, and had some trouble figuring out just what he was supposed to be sending me. After we got the deal sorted out again, at just before 5 PM on the 6th, he asked for my address again.

I sent him a few PMs since asking what the deal was, and this morning I get this:

i got nothing. dude aint respondin good luck on your search though. can't find anyone with 2gig sticks just 1gig which really sucks. you know where to get them pretty damn cheap also with the price you gave me. newegg is your best choice :/ sorry bout that

Just a heads up. Review his heat and the multiple [H] threads about him. This guy is not to be traded with.

Motion for a b7. Repeat offender, by the sound of it. Unless, of course, he wants to provide an explanation... I don't want to make any assumptions, but it's hard NOT to with a message like that.

Was he trying to flip a profit by buying off someone else and then selling to you, OP?

Sounds fishy, but luckily no harm, no foul. But seriously, this kid has like 4 threads floating around already...

I can't really tell. He initially gave me an exact OCZ part number. Seemed for all the world like a standard "I have this, I'll sell it to you" kinda deal until that last PM... which I can't really decipher.

Hmm, very odd indeed. Tho Vertigo is probably going to close this since there's really nothing that technically happened.

Daqurie, it would be prudent for you to clean up your trading practices and take some English classes, for that matter. Don't trade what you don't physically possess, if that's the case here, there's simply too much potential for something to go sour.

OP, there's some good RAM deals over on the Hotdeals forum. :) Probably be better to buy retail for a little more than with a shady trader.

EDIT: Ah, DDR RAM. Scratch the Hotdeals forum. Actually, I could use some PC3200 RAM myself... :p

If you can find me a deal on some DDR400, I'll be pretty impressed. No one buys it anymore, so the prices are high.

I don't think you can ban him from backing out on a deal since no substantive evidence of wrong-doing has taken place, but then again, that's what DNT lists are for.

I know. I was just stating that if he keeps fucking up, he'll be gone in no time.

We have banned problem traders in the past that never outright "trolled" anyone, but continued to fuckup on trades over and over.
The other FS/T mods and I will discuss this and make a decision

Just to be clear, I wasn't asking for a ban. I'd just like this to be here so other traders can beware.

You guys will do what, if anything, you think is best though. Thanks.

sounds very strange. I seem to recall a forum rule that says no selling of virtual goods, or something like that. You can't sell what you don't have...something like that. I'll find it and re-read it, we could all use some brushing up, from time to time. I don't know if it sounds fishy, but it is definately weird to say the least. That last PM sure does make it sound like he's actively hunting down things that he doesn't have, providing part numbers to people, and then on top of that, he has a habit of bad packaging.

...and I almost bought something from him a few weeks ago...*shudders*

He is selling this ram on several forums..which is not bad, but I don't think he has the mental capacity to keep up with one forum, let alone multiple forums....
That would explain why he had no idea what he was supposed to be sending you.....

he also might have already promised it to someone else at another forum...

I know just from reading about him this last week, I will not be entering into any deals with him...ever.

He's ok to sell to is he?
I am currently holding some stuff untill he can get around to pay me for them.
I've talked to him on the phone aswell, and he seems serious. Any problems with a straight sell to him?

Dunno, it's really your call. Since he's 4-0-1 on heatware, request he pay up first. As long as it clears and you get the money, be it Paypal, MO, or whatever, you shouldn't have much of an issue.

I'm guessing some ppl won't trade or sell with him just on a matter of principle. However, at the end of the day, it's really just how personally comfortable you feel trading with a member who has some questionable trading practices.

Since I am selling to him, and he promises to pay, indeed i'll sell to him.
(But yes, i'd make him pay first)

That's funny. I just checked Heatware and he has no heat. I checked the spelling of his username and it came out 0-0-0.

yup and now i'm at 6-0-2 gg. i'm getting killed here. i admit it.

heres something. 1luckymf. if you guys see the thread a little below about me. this is what now i'm at negative 2.

hes claimed on the report that i gave him a tracking number which was wrong when i actually sent him the right now after i realized i sent the wrong one. he then accuses me of shipping to the wrong place and it does get to him. packaging was something i already messed up on if you guys don't already know (newspaper incident). then the i/o panel is complained, when typically the board never worked in the beginning when i sold and asks me for a refund??!??

whats up with that?

oh yeah. i thought i had my hands on it from my friend but he never picks up the phone. so i had to bail on it and i don't think he could've waited any longer so i had to pass on it.

you really should not try and sell something you don't physically have in your possession....your days here are numbered.

I just re-read the FS/FT rules, and I don't see anything specifically prohibiting selling an item that isn't in hand. Common sense would say that you don't engage in such shenanigans, but clearly some folks lack that internal sense-meter.

How about adding to the FS/FT rules? Maybe something along the lines of "Item must be ready to ship immediately upon receipt of payment. Only sell items which are in your possession from the time of the FS/FT posting onward."

Addendum, unless this fact is stated explicitly in your thread.

I'll not comment on this one as to the validity of the claim (or circumstances surrounding), but I can only say that I myself have posted items in my FS/FT threads that were not in hand. However, when I did so, the items were out for RMA, and listed as such. I invited offers, and received some, but was sure to notify interested parties that the items were still out for RMA, awaiting return. I personally wasn't comfortable with giving false sense of security (or risking my feedback) to get cash in hand for an item I did not physically possess at the time, but did own. That's just me though. For the record, I couldn't find a forum rule stating no sales on items not in your posession. I guess it was something I just decided on myself, apologies for thinking there was such a rule.

I thought it was a rule also......I'm surprised its not....
I might have been thinking of another forum that has that rule....

On XS, it's required to provide a picture of the item with your forum handle and date in the same pic. This is to ensure the seller has the item on hand. Failure to do this = topic deleted without warning.

I think we should enforce this here as well to limit trolling and bad trading experiences to a minimum.

Also, reinstate the no-n00bie traders allowed.

One person's opinion, but I really think that listing items which are not in your physical possession at the time of th FS/FT thread posting is inviting a world of potential trouble.

so lesson here to me is. must be in my possession and must have a pciture before selling or thread will be closed. gotcha

seconded, on all counts.
and for the record, daqurie:

"must be in my possession and must have a pciture before selling or thread will be closed"

not strictly true (not in forum rules) at this time, but a good idea, unless you have very well established and/or perfect feedback for people to rely on.

so lesson here to me is

funny you should actually write that. this makes lesson #...fuck, I lost count. :D If these are honest mistakes, then fine. So be it. I make my own every now and then, but making them right is what will keep your feedback positive, or keep you from getting banned. With this string of events, be they your fault or not, your time here may be short lived without amicable resolutions for all those involved. The fact that Vertigo is in here, is usually not a good sign.

That would require everyone to have a camera, something that we're not going to do. However, the trading restrictions that were here before server issues will be put back into place once that is fixed (soon?)

Hey, I resent that! :p

Well, I can't recall what my tally is on you at the moment, but I think of my FS/FT threads (which is probably a shit ton because of how I close then relist with the newer hot items) you've probably visited twice to purchase or bump...and several times to help me remove my head from my ass. I call them like I see them! And you really shouldn't resent it, I've not seen anyone as ethical or on the ball as you. But, from time to time...you're kind of a pain in... oh wait, you're a mod. I love you man! :D

*watches as Vertigo hovers over the ban button*

I told ya! this guy shouldn't be allowed to trade here or anywhere else for the sake of my and most of other member's nerves ;)

haha yeah they all hate me in real life thats why they don't pick up.

believe me you have a choice to or not to so whatever. great friend he is huh? but i'm past that now. anyone else want to flame at me. this is your chance! also i would like to take advice.

packaging? clarify on things that i sell? take pics of whatever i put up to show that i have possession? also replying to pms with a manner and taking any question in.

FYI for everyone, he's been back twice now, as fkn0wned and tarnations
While it does appear that his recent trades have gone fine, being previously banned as a bad trader is immediate grounds for permaban.
So, I'm not saying freak out if you were currently dealing with tarnations, but please be aware that he's had non-troll trading issues before

Wonder why he's so desperate to return to Hardforums. Not like he was going to be able to hide for long from the all-seeing, all-knowing Vertigo Acid and associates. :D

Too bad, should have done it correctly the first time around.
