Hellgate London out Tomorrow!.

I'll be getting it, ofcause I have to wait until the Europe release....

I kan see myself hacking away in an eternity, it's kind of scary really... :D

I was really looking into getting this until the $10/month stunt. No thanks, there's plenty of other good games coming out this year.

Im going to be picking up this game, the single player demo they released did a horrid job at showcasing the game. Once you level up it starts to get pretty interesting and fun. Unfortuanly I can see why people would not like this game, its definatly got lots of room for improvment, and untill I see content I really want I'll be doing the free play online.

I played the beta for several hours. I didn’t like the Blademaster, but I got up to a level 15 Marksman. The game is alright to kill some time with, but I never really got into it that much. The skills weren’t that great, and a lot of them conflicted with each other. All the ‘towns’ were pretty much the same, and the actual level design repeats a lot. In my limited exposure I saw the same stuff over and over.

I never really got to experience MP, because nobody grouped. I asked in LFG several times and always had the ‘auto-group’ on, but that’s probably due to the limited number of testers.

It is probably worth the cash for the amount of play time you’ll get from it, and who knows what they’ll add in the future. I doubt I’ll be buying though unless there are major changes, I’m really getting into Eve.

I was sent a beta invite same day when the demo came out.

I won't be purchasing this game. It also reminded me to log onto Diablo 2 and refresh my account.

My copy of Hellgate just arrived VIA overnight UPS. I know it doesnt "officially" come out till tomorrow, but it pisses me off that the I have the game and i cant play! :p

well you can play single player lol, but I agree, i wish they would open up the servers already, they had stated they were going to open them before halloween so its suppost to go online sometime today unless they lied to us lol.

You could at least make some fraction of your post on-topic.

P.S. Perhaps you should take your own advice.

So that would make his net loss what?

My point was that I wouldn't blame someone for bashing a game constantly if they bought it and then it sucked. I would be pissed off too if I shelled out $60+ for a game and it sucked. It's not even out yet though and nobody is out any money. Didn't like the beta? Cancel your pre-order.
So the only time anybody has any right to complain about a game is when they've wasted money on it? Even if they were anticipating the game, then played the beta / demo and decided it wasn't what they were expecting. Seriously. Well guys, this forum thing has been a fun little experiment, but you heard the man - you're not legally allowed a dissenting opinion unless it's for something you've purchased, even if you have access to something that, by definition, is a reasonable indicator of the quality of the final product. See you guys on ePinions!

By the by. I probably shouldn't continue feeding you like this, but I did want to point out one more thing for the future, when somebody else doesn't agree with your mandates. Just about the most tasteless thing you could ever do is to take a fucking internet argument about a videogame and turn it into a molestation joke because you don't agree with somebody about something. That's fucking low.

I think all you people have forgotten or never played a "hack n slash" game, Hellgate is basic .. it reminds me of D2 and for that reason alone its enough for me to buy it. You people that whine and complain about "oh the beta wasnt good" its a BETA jesus, save your bitching for when the actual game comes out, you will look much less Ignorant.

I will be picking in it up, because it actually runs and look very good on my laptop, where I currently play most of my games lately.

Besides it is just good clean hack and slash.

Played the demo last night, had a hard time getting into it. The controls remind me of Tabula Rasa and I never really liked having my mouse locked like that. Having to open a window to move the mouse over the hot bar, etc.

The demo does infact suck since they use a lot of the same for each dungeon. Hoping the release has more uniqueness in each one.

That said, I'll probably buy it as I don't mine getting lost in a game for hours of hacking and slashing. Games like 2moons don't have anything other than grinding (rare quests) and lack boss mobs to fight so far. I need a fix. Hoping Mythos is good tho.

the beta is supposed to be representative of the actual game. Yes, D2 was a hack and slash... with good quests, good art design, polish, and even a bit of a story, none of which Hellgate seems to have.

As for ignorant... I played the beta, did you?

I have as much a right to state my opinion as you do.

Net loss so far was about $5, what I lost on the preorder (did it from a local store that doesn't refund preorders :()
That's fucked up, I would be pissed as well then.

Anyone can complain about whatever they want, especially on an internet forum. Likewise I can question what the hell they're complaining about. Don't get yourself too worked up, this isn't anything personal.

I did.. not very much though because of time constraints, though I played it enough to base my opinion on the game and see what it had to offer.

So your allowed to give positive input based off your experience with the beta but we are not allowed to give negative input based of our playing of the beta?

Sorry if i'm reading that wrong.

I had several teen-level characters. I kept looking for osmething great, but the game was pretty much the exact same from beginning to that point. The only one I found any fun was Summoner, and sadly your spawns are more often buggy and lost than working (or clipping through the floor and out of existence, where you have to wait forever for them to die or for the server to reboot so you can get them back).

The company is a good place and nice local store, I don't complain too much about that, but I really had high hopes for this game, and it didn't live up to them.

If you want me to actually detail the complaints my friends and I had about the beta, I can. It's pretty long. It mostly sums up to a total lack of any polish, and broken gameplay bugs.

Is the online play going to be like D2 where you create a game and allow people to join or not?

Wasn't GW where the cities were a big shared area and the traversing between them was instance based?

thats exactly how its works in HGL. Except you can turn on the Auto-Party Feature and if by some rare chance someone else has theirs on (almost no one ever did in the beta) then you would be automaticly put into a group together when you went into the same instance.

I admit the beta lacked any sort of depth or story, which is sad because the trailers were awesome. If they were to make an RPG out of serious sam, this would be it. I'm hoping that the retail game will be at least a little different. Surely it will at least have some cool cutscenes.

At the very least I thought it was fun as a hack-n-slash game (or shoot-n-kite, whichever you prefer.) It's about the same gameplay-wise as Diablo or Titan Quest, except with first-person perspective, a modern setting, modern weapons, and many admittedly broken or worthless skills. If you liked the above mentioned games, you should check out HG:L. If you hated them, don't bother.;)

Was super excited, I did love Diablo and Titan's Quest and Divine Divinity and many others, however I don't like the whole "Hey, pay $10 a month for extra stuff, and if you stop paying you lose the extra stuff!" I'm not paying for an MMO-lite.. Guild Wars is free online, why can't Hellgate: London be too?

Oh, that's right, greed and $$$$. There really isn't any other reason why Guild Wars can do this for free (and provide content through expansions, a one time flat cost) when Hellgate: London wants you to pay $50, and then keep paying $10 every month for the priviledge of new content. I guess it's a better way to sap money than game + expansion.

I'm wondering how big of a part EA played in that. I'll get this when it's in the bargain bin, and I'll get The Witcher instead, because at least my $50 is getting me a complete game out of the box.

See. I felt that D2 was fun whereas TQ was boring. I can't quantify why, just the gut feeling of enjoyment.

I "think" TQ was not as much fun due to having 2 skill sets and the issue of game balance.

D2 was just setup really well and balanced how *I* like it. Maybe I just like exactly 6.9 mobs per screen or room or whatever, but damn they had a great formula for addicts like me.

If you played in the beta.. well.. this is from the website itself..

"Hey everyone. Sorry for the short notice, but in the next 15 minutes or so at 1:30PM PDT, you'll be able to hop into the game and start creating characters. At 5:00PM PDT, the game will open up to everyone else. This goes for both the US and EU servers. Get to it!"

Should be interesting. I personally can't wait..

Bah! They open it up for beta'ers RIGHT when I leave for work (in 5 minutes). :/ Now I'll be thinking about it all day at work; it's going to be a long day.

Man, that sucks. I only have enough time to create a char or two, then head back to work myself. Grabbing a retail copy tonight when I get off, then I have to work a long swing shift tommorow.. Thursday though? I'm all over it. As for your situation? I suggest lots of coffee and calling in tommorow. ;)

I tried to log-on, it says servers are down. Do they mean the servers are up for people that already have the retail version?

no, people are reporting in other forums that the servers are still just down, no one can log on.

I think you know theres a difference between positive and negative feedback , but some of your are just outright woefully bashing the game because it didn't meet the criteria that you imagined it would, take the game for what it is, but don't be mad because its not what you had wanted it to be.

its a hellgate...there are zombies/demons exploding! and guns lots of guns.. and hot big breasted chicks wearing shiny steel armor! .... what more do you want?

I think you know but its already been done... ;-)

Anyway I´m hanging on for the European launch, why oh why can we get on the 30th too..?

Hold the ALT key to see and move your cursor when not in a menu screen :).

I guess its useless until the servers goes live, but here are some pictures of the unboxed collectors edition (excuse me of the photos, its taken from an iPhone.)

well, I ended up with a copy after all (forgot I'd ordered it elsewhere as well. oops).

So I figured I'd give it a try.

So far, they've changed a few things from the beta. Like the intro is bugged and loops forever, and the first quest is now bugged.'

edit: and for the poster above, servers are live already. only 2, but they're up
