Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Office version you installed and don't want -> Remove.

It's not really that hard to play with both.
 
he's asking which one he should put on his new system, not how to remove one..

personally, i like 2003 better, just because i cant get used to the new interface on the 2007. nothing's worse when you're up at 5AM, have a paper due in a few hours, and have to spend half the time figuring out how to find options in 2k7. some will swear by the new interface though, i just dont like change.
 
You may as well learn 2007 since it'll be around for awhile. The only downside is that if you save your files as 2007 you need to use a converter pack if you want to view them on a 2003 computer. (or just save them as an older version)
 
I use 2007 at work and the interface isn't "slightly different". It's a wholly redesigned theme with the ribbon and other features.

I do ok with it, but I have to mangle it a lot to get it where I want it to be. It involved extensive configuration changes but it's to the point where I'm happy with it.

I have Office 2007 and I hate it, but have to live with it. I prefer the old Office XP style, I guess there are changes for a reason though ;)
 
I actually prefer the new UI for 2007. The old interface was becoming too convoluted and options were just being thrown into menus wherever they could be fit. The Ribbon interface is quite intuitive and organized all the most commonly used functions in a very straight-forward and logical fashion.

It takes some getting used to, but the new interface is really a lot faster and more intuitive than the traditional layout. I much prefer it to the old version.
 
It didn't take long for me to "learn" 2007. The interface is cleaner and more organized with the use of tabs, that categorize functions under the appropriate tab, so it's easy to find and you get all (well most) under each tab, while 2003 you had to use pull down menus or go into an options dialog box to find more "advanced "features."

Since 2007 introduced a new file format, i always save my documents in the Word 97-2003 format, since not everyone is on Office 2007 and haven't experienced any problems. I would go with Office 2007 :)
 
IMO: You mine as well install 07 and get use to it. Whether or not you want to learn a new GUI it is here and will probably stay. Plus now you will be able to open 07 files, though you will probably end up saving a lot of 03 files if you need to send it to someone.
 
By the way, you can also set Office 2007 to save files as legacy .doc files instead of .docx if you need to use your documents on older computers. I have it set that way and it makes things a lot easier since I don't have to manually change the file format every time I save a document.
 
For work I save everything in Office 2007. It forces people to get the new version or download the compatibility pack. It's their problem not mine. ;)
 
Office 2007. It is a lot more polished in my opinion. The learning curve from 2003 is about 2-3 hours max. Really nice

I second this. I like Office 2007 hands down. Only took like 15 minutes to get use to the new UI. Even changed it black.....

Getting used to the new UI isn't difficult, and I've found it to be much more intuitive than the old one.
 
I really like office 2007, but some people like the old menu styles

Nope, not as far as I know. I believe Microsoft purposely didn't include a legacy UI because they want people to get familiar with the new interface.
 
The interface in Office 2007 (or at least Word 2007) is extremely visual, easy, open, accessible, and helpful (every feature has hover tool-tips). Absolutely great in my opinion.
 
2007 is fantastic, but it definitely is difficult to switch back and forth between 03 and 07 because the interface just seems so much clunkier and slower to use when I was back home during the summer.

This is definitely true, even for non-technical folks. My company is made up mostly of people who fear technology, but they are doing very well with Office 2007. We use the Save to PDF add-on quite a bit.
 
All you have to do, to change the ui from blue to black is the following: click on the office orb on the top left of the window, then on the bottom of that box there should be something that says Word Options, and in the Popular Tab, right in the middle of the square you should see Color Scheme with a drop down triangle list. Just select which one you want and there you have it. You can chose from blue, silver and black.

You can always use a 'portable office 2007' on a USB stick at work.
google up Thinstall or PM me if you need help or direction.

To those who haven't tried Office 2007 and wants to know if they'll like it before buying it, I suggest you go here and try the trial (virtualize it if you're afraid to mess anything up).

Suggest this link to your work's IT admins and managers so they can try out Office 2007 in their current infrastructure so they can determine if it'll improve or break anything.
