Recommended setup is;

Windows XP/Vista

* Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ / 2.3 GHz processor
* 2048MB RAM
* NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB
* 12GB disk space

Windows XP, using DX9 is limited to "high" graphical settings, while Windows Vista, using DX10, can be set to "very high". According to Crytek the recommended system will run the game in high resolution at high/very high settings.

12GB of hard drive space!? OK. Can't complain too much, considering Half-Life 2 and CS: Source together take up 9GB.:rolleyes:

people cant complain at all about the size of games.. 500GB hdds are the norm and TB drives are available. Vanguard: saga of heroes has a 18GB installation.

everything but the hdd space is what people should be worried about.. they are really high.

my 7800GTX (which is still a beast of a card) can only run this game(beta) respectfully at low settings. ~_~

This is the third time this has been posted in these forums, by the way, and likely not the last.

Actually, it's quite simple as explained above by my previous post, 12GB is alot. See, simple!

From Shacknews:

Those who have played the Crysis multiplayer beta may find their minds boggled by the claims made by the above requirements; though admittedly not final software, the beta suggests that the listed requirements are, to say the least, impractical for playing Crysis.

As far as what Crytek recommends: an Intel Core 2 DUO at 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+, 2GB of RAM, and an NVidia GeForce 8800 GTS/640; as Crytek is a technology partner with NVidia, no ATI equivalent was explicitly stated.

More pot stirring...

*edit*
Actually that last bit is pretty funny, given the benchmarks on TH today. Probably because ATI can't hang.

Crikey, that's pretty mad requirements even if it is the recommended hardware. Might just wait for the 9800gtx before I buy my new rig then...

Nah, that's just Nvidias good old way of paying to have their name put on nearly every single game that comes out. They only compabilitycheck non-sponsored hardware loosely to make sure it's not showstoppingly broken, and performance tweaks, the conspiracy theorist in me believes, goes straight to the sponsored hardware, instead of following directX reference paths.

The 12 gigs of space required sounds odd to me, Stranglehold was 12-13ish gigs? That had a lot of huge video cutscenes, what will Crysis have besides a whole lot of uncompressed überhigh detail textures? Maybe that's it, looking at the minimum video memory requirements and how beautiful the game looks.

Whatever card in my budget that can survive a 400w psu with 30 amps on the 12v rail will be my November/December purchase together with this, it's so good that it's going to be the first time I'll actively play online FPS action since 2004.

*cringes* How about 2x x1900 XTX's in crossfire? Hopefully I'll be able to eek out High settings at 1680x1050...

Massive requirements, geez.

I wonder how big of a deal is the CPU. I only have a E4400. I plan on overclocking it to over 3 though. What resolution are those specs for?

Sweet if you ask me. I only need a new vid card to run this game and I want a new one anyways since my current one sucks donkey balls.

I'd be more concerned with graphics than CPU speed. 3ghz on a 4400 is an average expected OC and will help out, but focus on graphics power instead.

wow thats exactly what my rig is. athlon x2 4400 & 8800 gts 640 mb. im glad i met the recommended req. :p

How are the recommended specs even surprising to some of you? Its not like you didn't see that coming a mile away. :rolleyes:

I suspect that people may not have the problems that Crysis may pose to their system specs as they are currently. It will be a wait and see.

Right when I was about to buy a 8600 GTS, whew now I'm buying the 8800 640.

Well I would think the release should be more optimized than the beta...

Two 7900GTX cards in SLI struggle with 1280x1024 Med in a few areas...

wow funny i plays really and all high and 1440x900 well on mine with a single gts 320, i guess if need be a second one can be had.

Ugh. First time I've ever needed more HD space than a hardware upgrade :p.

Time to delete all the crap I don't use. Yay 74gb Raptors :eek:

That is recommended specs. A $100 7900gs plays the game quite well at 1280x1024 with most settings on medium or high and shaders on low as well as lighting. :)

that's weird, with my x1800xt 256mb and my brisbane overclocked to 2.9ghz. I can play on all medium settings except i have high pyhsics on. I also play at 1440x900 rez. It runs 20 frames lowest but usually around 27-37 fps. Pretty good.
