Wow I don't think i've even seen those for sale let alone played them. Seen them as in noticed them at a store. :D

Number three:

Tetris. I hate the game, but it was possibly the biggest contribution the russians made to the video game industry. A game that old that is still played has to have something going for it.

Number two:

Starcraft. This game is as big as the super bowl in Korea. I shit you not, Professional Starcraft players get paid up to $250,000 a year to play starcraft.

Number one:

Counter Strike. This game has the best shooting system ever. One of the first in the biz, and the first MMO FPS game ever. With a learning curve years long, getting a frag in this game is always entertaining. It is probibly the single game in north america of which you can make a living off of.

Asheron's Call-First online addiction :)
Doom-First Game addiction :)
HL1- Well, it was just really cool :)

1. Ultima Online pre-trammel days.

This game was great before the expansions using the original notoriety system. Best MMO I've ever played.

I remember if you could cast Fire Ball (or was it called Fire Bolt? been a long time) you were hailed as a god among men.

Kal vas flam!

Tough call.

1. Morrowind
2. Fallout
3. Doom

Pretty much goes in descending order in terms of hours played. Honorable mentions: Quake and Quake 2, Half-Life and HL2, NFS: Porsche Unleashed, Thief and Thief 2, Fallout 2, Doom and Doom 3, and Deus Ex.

Sanitarium was an excellent game, even with the occasionally painfully bad voice acting.

A lot of them are older games (Mid-late 90's to early 2000'ish).

You should defiently check some of them out if they are your types of games.

Myth II- RTS, however it's not like your generic usual RTS games. There is ZERO base building/harvesting shit. It is purely focused on the combat. Basically you are given a certain amount of troops/types of units and tha tis it, you have to make it through the lv with only those troops (sometimes you might get reinforcements). The game has a very good single player storyline and some of the best multiplayer for an RTS game.

Sadly with bungie.net going down and it bein sold off after microsoft bought them, it went a bit down. However the fans for the game got together and made their own online portal so people could still play online, and you will easily have many people to play online if you want to, www.playmyth.net . Back in the day this was the "half-life" of rts games, there were sooooooo many user made mods/conversions for the game (everything from a wwII mod that was quite popular to the wild west and many other things).

I highly suggest this game if you are an RTS fan and you can find "Myth: the total codex" for quite cheap, it includes myth I and II, plus many of the user-mad mods/conversions and some official ones.

Sanitarium and Syberia I/II are classic 3d character adventure games.

IMO the adventure game genre is easily some of the most rewardin games when it comes to characters and storylines. The right one can attach you to characters/story/settings and stay in your memory long down the line.

Both of these games have a great story and excellent unique feeling atmosphere's to them.

Sanitarium can be very creepy in parts, I suggest playing it at night :).

Easily two of my favorite adventure games, even if you aren't into adventure games I'd suggest them. I know many women who paticulary loved the Syberia games because of the character/storyline.

Severance is an action/adventure melee combat game. This is the game that (imo) has the best melee combat of any game I've played. The way it works and plays it is leaps and bounds better then any other melee combat system I've played (Jedi knight, etc). Mainly because the game puts a focus on actually making you have to dodge/block attacks and be aware of your enemy and countering him and such, you can't just button mash and run around in circles.

Die by the sword is also an action adventure melee combat game. It's a bit older (mid 90's) and it also had a more unique control system called "VSIM" where you could use your mouse to move the characters hand around. However it is quite hard and could be a bit of a pain (since the mouse works on a 2d-plane vs the 3d motion of the hand) you could have use the keyboard for combat as well and it generally worked better. However the game had a decent story/setting and was quite humours (there was even a "cuss" pack released for it. Think of it as sort of a "Duke-nukem" type of game and you'll know what type of humor and such to expect.

Sanitarium was an excellent game, even with the occasionally painfully bad voice acting.

Yea, some parts of the voice acting were a bit meh, but the excellent storyline and atmosphere to the game made it something you could look over.

this is a hard one

#3 - C&C series
#2 - Diablo
#1 - RTCW ...god I spend so much time on that game

it's either I am losing interest, but the newer games don't do it for me

3. Hero's of Might and Magic 2
2. F.E.A.R
1. Diablo 2/LOD 7 years after the release I'm still playing this

I love how so many only grudgingly include WoW in their list. I guess too many people are angry at it for almost completely devouring a year of their life and seriously threatening their schooling or work.

1. WoW
2. Deus Ex (who else got really involved in its multi-player game?)
3. Planescape: Torment

Far Cry
1/2 Life + addons
Max Payne series w/ first person patch
(like playing a movie)

Honorable mention
Duke Nukem 3D

Single Player
Fallout 1 and 2
Call of Duty
Jagged Alliance 2

(it's strange that Fallout and JA both make the list... as I pretty much hate every other turn-based combat system game ever made)

Multi-Player
CS 1.6 (and previous verisions)
Diablo II (was a favorite until I had played it so much I hated it)
WoW (it's hard to admit it, but I played for quite awhile before I got sick of it, it was enjoyable)

Coop
System Shock 2
Ravenshield
Sven Coop

Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Battlefield 2
Anarchy Online(Nortum Wars, Shadowlands, Alien Invasion, Lost Eden)

A couple of games no one mentioned:
age of wonder shadow magic
wizardry 8
unreal (though today i prefer farcry's mechanics/gameplay)

1. Jedi Outcast and Academy - I played it for years, and had fun everyday until i stopped.
2. EVE Online - Cant stop playing that game for hours on end when I dont have class.
3. Bioshock - One of the best games I have played lately.

I used to play CS(pre Source) for several years. WoW killed my social life when I played it, so thats over.

Current list is:
1. Bioshock
2. Company of Heroes
3. Dirt

My top 3 favs are:
1.Baldur's Gate 2
2 .Freespace 2
3. Duke Nukem

(1) Doom
(2) FEAR
(3) Oblivion

(...Jedi Knight and Far Cry battling if I had to pick a 4th...)

Will have to agree, from a R6 enthusiast, that game blew chunks.

As far as my top three;

GR:AW
GR:AW2 (only demo right now, am in the middle of deploying)
EVE-online

You say that R6:Vegas blew chunks and that you are an R6 enthusiast. Yet you chose GR:AW and GR:AW2 over the original Ghost Recon.:rolleyes::mad::(

Thank you for your service to our country.

1) Starsiege Tribes - Excellent game, predecessor to many modern fps games in many ways.

2) TIE Fighter Series - Too bad this genre died out really, these games were superb.

3) Civilization Series - More addictive than crack, need more be said?

1. CS:S ( So many custom maps, plus active community makes this game the best )
2. Halo Pc ( Game was so fun 3-4 years ago now just sux balls )
3. WoW ( Best mmo I ever played, never got addicted tho, got to lvl 65 undead mage. )

Doom
Fallout
Starcraft

That covers the big 3 genres. Plenty of others right up there with them though. Probably played more QWCTF than any of those games, but I actually still play those 3 to this day.

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge - Still play this game from time to time out of nostalgia
Company of Heroes - Definitely going to get the Expansion when it gets cheaper
Battlefield 2 - Despite it's many problems and quirks, I still enjoy and like this game.
