Zalman's New 8800 Cooler VF1000 LED + ZM-RHS88

Zalman has just released its 8800 VGA cooler, but it takes the more expensive route. In order to install it on a 8800 card, you need to purchase 2 coolers! One for the 8800 GPU and the other for everything else. I'll let the pictures do the talking ;)

Is it me or does this look ALOT like the 7800GTX 512 and 7900GTX reference cooler...just in copper...The good news is it seems this can be installed on older cards as well (7800/7900 series).
 
The VF-1000 can be used with many other cards as well-not JUST the 8800s.

Guaranteed better performance though. The memory cooler takes care of well... the memory, so that whole heatsink is designated for the GPU ONLY unlike the 7900gtx cooler which was required to cool everything. I just find that extra memory cooler to be a bit on the extreme side.

BTW, Installation of both coolers will be a headache!

Ugh, air cooling is getting out of hand. Where's the elegance nowadays? It seems like every company keeps releasing an ever growing hunk of copper to keep things cool.
 
would be much easier and cheaper just to go h20 but still nice looking unit.
 
From the Pictures I'd say that the memorycooling (everything else cooling I guess really) looks preferable to the loose heatsinks of the ThermalRight HR-03 PLUS solution (which I found are a bitch to install, something I find is true for all loose heatsinks of this type though...) How it performs is the real question though, I might consider it, if performance turns out to be superior to the HR-03 PLUS eventhough I'm quite happy with that one...
 
That's the problem with Zalman and any other brand that have integrated fan. I would rather put 2 small fans on that than have a limited to 1. I preferred the Thermalright HR-03 Plus since I can put a 120mm fan on it and with an option of having the heatsink on top or on the bottom.

Best is to wait for reviews to come in before grabbing one. Why aren't there any reviews for this yet that I can find?
 
Because it JUST came on their site. I posted this just after Zalman was editing their site to add these products;)

And every chip manufacturer keeps releaseing chips with evergrowing thermal profiles ;)

...but the RH88 is on backorder (for 8800GTX). Zalman said that this thing performs "much better" than stock cooling, but of course they would say that. It is all copper vs. the aluminum HR-03. The profile of the Zalman cooler, is "no larger" than the reference design cooler on the 8800GTX, even with the Ramsinks. The fan glows blue for the "bluephiles". Everything together for the GTX runs about $100 after shipping.

I've got 8800GTX and I just bought VF1000, but there is no rhs88 to buy in any shop i can find... any1 know where to buy it?
 
Thermalright HR-03 plus is gigantic in size! it's even larger than zalman vf1000 without a fan... you could definatly not get SLI with that cooler, and i am not sure u if even could have any PCI card(?).

If thermalright hr-03 plus was in pure copper I might have been more interested!
 
Wiating a review to see which cooler is better.... now im pissed I just pulled the trigger on the HR-03 Plus... oh well...Zalman uses crap fans anyways.

You can have SLI mode with 2 Thermalright but withuot the fans. The only problem I have with Thermalright HR-03 plus is that I'm being forced to use typ 1 method setup and it rendered all but 1 PCI slot useless.

I would recommend is stop wasting money on VGA and CPU heatsink and go with water cooling. These heatsinks are a waste of space and does not get rid of the heat out of your system properly. I've probably wasted $300 on 6 heatsinks over like 3 years.

The fan @VF1000 is not crap... lol... besides With Antec 900... np

With no fans for thermalright hr-03 plus... what's the point?
 
Interesting design

Air coolers are definitely getting closer to water in terms of price.

Consider the DD 8800GTX block is $150

However, something I think a lot of people that are saying "screw heatsinks go with water" are forgetting is, waterblocks are not universal either, unless you go with something that cools only the GPU itself lake a Maze4, which wouldn't work for something like an 8800 anyway. So, everytime nvidia/amd change the reference design, you have to buy a new cooler, whether you go with water or air. And waterblocks are still almost 2x as expensive as even this new Zalman beast, so water is still considerably more expensive.

Is this cooler similar in size to the 8800GTS Factory HS? When mounted to a 8800 Series, will it take up more room?

If you are talking about VF1000 and RHS88 then the answer is that has the same hight and has about the same length. I've got one VF1000 but no RHS88.

Spend some time on SPCR and you will understand why I call thier fans crap. Compared to a 92mm Nexus, Yate Loon, Panaflow etc... Im not saying it won't cool well but the noise to airflow ratio wont be good.
 
So, any reviews out yet? I'd love to buy one but I'm not spending any money until I see how good it is.

RHS88 Isn't released yet, so tehre is no reviews yet... But I'll get it as soon as I can and I can post the results here if you like!

Sure, but do you have before and after temps of your entire system (gpu, case, cpu) since you installed the vf1000?

I've recently bought the vf1000, but I don't have zm-rhs88 (heatsink for 8800GTX/GTS/Ultra)...

And since I've got 8800GTX I can not install my vf1000 yet... :(

When vf1000 & rhs88 is installed I will post all data.

Eh, the pass-through for the core heatsink through the ram sinks is round. You'd have to adapt it or find a rounded copper-base waterblock that is decent enough for an 8800.
