Tapped Market

Untapped Market
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->|

What Nintendo did, and they acknowledge this, is look at the untapped market and figured out how to get their money. I can think of nothing that the 360 or the PS3 offer that would appeal more to the untapped market than the tapped market.

Pretty much the truth. The ONLY people bitching about the Wii are the "hardcore" console gamers. These are the people who are actually annoyed that "only" ten or fifteen AAA titles are due by year end. The rest of us don't care. We won't have beaten all fifteen of those titles by 2009, much less 2008.

LOL, listen TROLL, there wasn't an OUNCE of FUD anywhere in anything I said. Cute, though, I'll enjoy a good laugh at your expense :p

Just saying, every thread your in someone is calling you out. Repeated sentiments obviously indicate something.

To be fair, hardcore gamers have had a good reason to bitch, as there's been pretty much nothing since Zelda at launch to really get their fix on. MP3 looks to change that, and there are a few other titles coming in the next few months that fit squarely into the "Hardcore gamers" category, but it really has been way too long of a stretch. I'll reiterate again though that this phenomenon is the fault of *Publishers*, not of the platform.

I ENCOURAGE them to call me out, and I do plenty of calling out myself. That's a GOOD thing, that's what discussion is all about :)

Yes, all the consoles have had rehashes, but they make up for it by having a bunch of good games too. Right now the Wii doesn't have much of anything.

Also, just cause you have a gazillion units out there, doesn't necessarily mean all the better games will be on it.

PS2 has what? 150 million units out there in the wild. Did Gears of War get on it? Hot Shots Golf 5? Ridge Racer 7? The Darkness? Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2?
It's a different world now. Games have longer development times with less content. Graphics have increased over two fold since the PS2 era.

The Wii will either hold back other games or simply won't get them. The Unreal Engine 3 will be powering many new games on multiple platforms, too bad it doesn't support the Wii.

Also the Wii is ahead of both the Xbox 360 and the PS3, yet no new games have been announced. It's been out for almost a year and it rapidly climbing, yet again, no new games announced.

The Wii is like the iPhone. Tons of hype around it. Tons of ppl bought it. Then no one seems to care anymore, as the iPhone is a mediocre phone.

Best thing Nintendo can do now is try and keep the hype going and keep their production down. If it's always sold it, it must be good. Gotta get one.

The Wii isn't like the iPhone. The iPhone is over priced, exclusive, and did i mention a lot of money?

If you want to try using a comparison compare it to the iPod. Excellent price point and doing everything better than the competition.

As for the rest of the things you wrote, I don't know what to say. Especially after the "Wii has no new games announced." And the "Wii doesn't have much of anything." You must live under a rock.

I didn't say it was hard to import, I said MOST PEOPLE DON'T AND NEVER WILL. Ever learn to *comprehend* what you read? Guess not. As for PS2, yes, it's had a good run, but it's not like there are a significant number of high profile releases on the horizon for it. ALL the major franchises have moved on. There are still a few stragglers, to be sure, but nothing that's likely to change the world. In 10 years, just like today, you might still see slim, revised versions of the 360 and PS3 for sale, but they won't be the primary consoles on the market anymore, having been superceded by xbox 420 and PS4 and Nintendo whatever.

There's a reason developers have left the PS2. It's lacking power for the games they are developing. That's why tons of titles nowadays are 360 and PS3 titles, but not Wii. Even though the Wii is extremely easy to work with.

Also, it actually IS like MS and Sony can't do the Wiimote. Beyond just patents, they've already launched their systems and sold a fair number *sans* a new control scheme as default. That boat has sailed. In 5-6 years when they next generation hits it might be another story, but for this gen, they're stuck with what they've already released. As for your claims of a "Nintendo suck off show", you provide even more evidence that you're simply unable to read. It's cute, really. I think we can all see who the fanboy TURD here is, little boy, and it's clearly you.

Uh huh. The benefit of both the 360 and PS3 is upgradeability. They can easily create a new control scheme and provide it with HD.

Remember when Sony threw out the Eye Toy? It providied a new game control scheme. It allowed users to actively participate in a game. Oddly enough, the same concept that Nintendo has now.

Actually, Nintendo makes more money than Sony.

Net Income for Fiscal year 2007:

Nintendo : 174 billion yen
Sony: 126 billion yen

And Nintendo *only* sells video games.

Oh and sony had a 67 billion yen loss this last quarter, while nintendo had 80 billion yen net income. hmm...

Maybe it's cause of the fact Sony had to deal with huge battery recalls. Before that was the huge fiasco over their controller impeding on another companies patent, which cost them like $90.7 million dollars.

Then there's the initial loss on their PS3 consoles, due to it costing less than how much it costs to produce it.

Oh, on a sidenote. Nintendo owns the Seattle Mariners. If you really think Nintendo only receives money through games, you don't know businesses. Every large business out there will invest their money into stocks and what have you to further make money off their existing money.

What are you *talking* about? No new games have been announced for Wii? Are you fucking high? Wii has more exclusives announced for it than either PS3 *or* 360, and the list just keeps on growing. Look here:

Console Exclusives October 2006
Console Exclusives March 2007
Console Exclusives July 2007

If no new games have been announced as you posit, then do tell us all, how is it that Wii went from having roughly the same number of exclusives as PS3 and substantially fewer than 360 in October of 2006, to having more than *twice* as many as PS3 today and another 25% more than 360? Can you answer that please? Because I would really LOVE to know how that list changed so dramatically when, as you put it, NO NEW GAMES HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED.

Just *un*befuckinglievable.

OMG! Most of them aren't set to release this year. Many are going to be made by Nintendo. Also tell me, what games can I play right now? How long will I be waiting? Also any of those going to be AAA titles?

If you didn't notice, some of those games were announce a long time ago. Don't think the site is keeping things up to date nor makes much sense.

How can an exclusive be announced and not have a publisher? All that is worked out before they ever announce the game. It's always been that way.

That's cause the AAA titles are usually the best. Hence their AAA rating.

Also, do you play AAA titles. The majority you can beat in a day. RPGs in a few days. Then the rest of the time, we are sitting around replaying the game, waiting for the next release.

Actually, the iPod tends to cost more than the competition and do less. Have you looked at other mp3 players aside from it?

You don't think the Wii is overpriced? Probably cause you aren't look at it for what it is. It's a console that has less power than the original Xbox, yet oddly enough, costs over double the price and also has less games than the original Xbox.

Only difference is a so called "innovative" control mechanism, that has been around for years before the Wii.
