I take back anything bad I ever said about PS3

Hum... No, I bashed it when I found that it looks like crap on one of my monitor/tvs...

I eventually sold my first Wii.

After playing it for awhile though, I eventually loved it. Will get another one as soon as Metroid Prime 3 comes out.

I admit the graphics bug is in all of us. It's really gameplay that shines in the end though.

Now, care to try again and find another place that you can find fault in my posts? Is my sentence structure off?

Or is it time for you to whine to the mods since you don't like the truth?
 
The question is though, those of you defending the PS3, how exactly can you blame people who don't want it?

It has hardly any games. As of right now it's a graphics showcase.

If more games like Metal Gear Solid 4 come out, I'd be on it in a heartbeat. As of now though, it's simply a graphics showcase.

I don't honestly see how you hope to ignore the truth... Not even having mods lock and erase posts will do it I'm afraid.

This is what the average person feels... They want a game to have good gameplay, not just good graphics...

It won't be a price drop that helps, it will be games that have good gameplay.

I admit, I would get a PS3 in a heartbeat if it had games that not only looked good, but played good. As of now, it doesn't.
 
I don't know why you can't let people have their own opinions. I don't have a PS3 so I could care less, but if you think that PS3 is "just" a graphical showcase then you can certainly say the same for 360. Every game on the 360 or PS3 could be done on Xbox or PS2 without the pretty graphics.

In conclusion, I think you should go wash off the sand in your vagina.
 
It's currently a 'graphical showcase' mainly because their aren't many good/great games at the moment. All it has are games that show off 1080p. It's at the moment a glorified N64, but without Super Mario 64 in this time period.

When more good/great games come to market, much more people will want a PS3. it's that simple.
 
Last time I checked this thread was about how OP was satisfied with his new PS3. Let me check again, yep it still is. How about we enjoy what we have and stop trying to justify our purchase to others. Let's all hold hands and sing kumbaya

yup exactly, i agree with a satisfying purchase indeed. at 600 dollars over the average life span of consoles (5 years) that is 10 dollars a month, but if it gets 10 years like Sony is claiming, which I doubt, i mean sure it will last and maybe games will still be made 10 years from now, but the ps4 will be out in less than 10 years, would make it 5 dollars a month.

Really, if you want a PS3 worship then make the Polish Ninja forum and have PS3 fans worship together.

You say we are trying to take opinions away, but it's the opposite. If you make a post, given that people have opinions, you should expect to have other people express those opinions.

If you want everyone to have the same opinion as you, go to a facist organization, they'd be glad to accept you.

But the reality is, when you make topics, you should expect that other people will have their own opinions about them. Life isn't a parade completely in your favor, and you won't always have mods to complain to when it isn't.

As long as people give their opinions in a nice way and not 'LOLZ the POS3 sucks and so do you fanbrat LMAO!!1111 roxxors!!' I see no problem with opinions.

This place honestly used to be a place for enthusiasts (Yes, USED too), now it's overrun by people who call others trolls if they opinions and whine to mods.

The same thing happened to a once decent place called Gamefaqs...

The circle will be complete when the emo kids drive what is left of the enthusiast crowd out and you see posts like:

All I was giving was my opinion. If you want to bash me for that, you only get people pissed off.

In life, you get people with differing opinions. It's how you handle them that defines you.

I'm perfectly fine with the fact that he likes his PS3. Good for him. If he gets enjoyment out of it, then that is good. But for me, and the majority, it's just a 1080p player.

That could change. One day that probably will change.

But as for now, lets let peoples opinions be their opinions and go back to the topic at hand, um kay?

Y'know, most people, including me, have been able to beat that "Gameplay over Graphics" horse just once in a thread and be satisfied.That horse is PASTE man. Leave it be. Jeezus, look at how many posts you've got on that last page alone. Do you really think the "Gameplay over graphics" slogan hasn't been heard in a gaming forum?

What this comes down to is that you don't like the games on the PS3.

You could've stopped posting at that point. If you have something new to say, by all means, say it. Don't just rehash it and repost the same message. For some reason you feel you have to keep saying it until everyone shares your opinion. You're allowed to voice your opinion, and the same goes for everybody else. When someone disagrees with you, deal with it and move on. When you've said your piece, then it's up to them to take it or leave it. Beyond that, you can't change someone's mind, but good lord, I see your name 9 times on the last page alone. Out of 20 posts, 11 of them are split between 9 other people. The remaining 9 are all you. That's the part that make you look like a troll. MOVE ON. Good grief, I don't have a PS3, I'm one of the people with the same opinion. Hmmm, sorry I cant take back anything bad I said about the PS3 yet. They are still major unsolved problems; price, online structure/interface, and available games. There's also the smaller issues such as no HD cables supplied, no 1080i up-scaling, lack of rumble, controller too lite, and slippery triggers, but these are not too important.
 
I've been gone for a while and didn't read over the 6 pages of stuff....

I will say this... I'm enjoying my PS3 too!!!

Last night I had a large group of friends come over. We started off BBQing and catching up on lost times.... One of them points out, lets play some PS3!!.. So I turn on the HDTV, hit the PS Button and fire up MotorStorm. We got some drinks going and played a drinking game that any time the person playing crashes everyone has to take a drink. :D :D

That was pretty fun... people yelling out "dammnit I'm drinking" way before someone blows up (boost = drinkfest). Busted out some MK2 after the MotorStorm and then used my PS3 to play some toons with a nice little visual going on the TV... and finished off the night with poker.


Really can't wait for littleBiGplanet.... I think that games gonna rock...


To the one person on the first page... I think the PS Store looks unpolished because they really could care less about how it looks... I think its just temp... I think the "PS Store" will look a lot different when Home is released.... :p

The playstation 3 has both a harddrive and Blueray standard. In a couple of years we will notice this more when game devs start making massive immersive worlds.

Japanese developers made beautiful games for the ps2, Zone of the Enders 1&2 Tekken, Soul Calibur, ICO/SOTC, Okami to name a few, I mean other console owners are happy just getting the awesome games the Japanese made for the ps2 last year like Devil may Cry. Imagine what new awesome exclusives are still in the pipe. Don't forget to mention what ever Uteda and Team ICO are cooking, that alone is a very good reason to own a ps3.

The playstation 3 has the power and the capacity to make amazing stuff. The devs are just learning how to harness it.

price:

The ps3 does need a price drop. I have many friends who love it just because of tekken dr and virtual Fighter but can't afford it (but will have to sell their souls to get one when tekken 6 comes out). It needs much more than a $100 price drop in my opinion. It made no sense to do away with the 20gig system some of us have no use for a card reader and like the stability of a wired connection. If it's just a $100 price drop then it would be like the 60gig is just replacing the 20gig which just doesn't cut it.

IMO sony needs to cut the price low so they can better penetrate the market, suck up the initial losses if there are any and make up for them with the software sales.

From another view point sony might not even think of the system as completely out yet. I mean they just launched in India and haven't even launched in S.Korea yet. They do view the ps3 as having a very long life span and this would make sense because the console is very well built and future proof (with the HDD and Large capacity disc drive as Standard). Plus the ps2 is still kicking lots of next gen ass.

Who knows? Sony has been around for a very long while (much longer than most of us have been alive) we can't pretend to know more about their business than they do.

Ok ok, need we really go back to doing an 360 vs. PS3 tech discussion? I though we were talking about when games were releasing for the PS3 to make it a better buy. Seriously, posts like this are getting old. If you want to step into the "bash the other consoles tech" arena, I'm sure we can do that and that way all the console jingoist nuts on the board can come out of the woodwork . . . wait, they are already here . . . and we can fast track this thread to being locked. Honestly, I don't mind the debate, but many people seem to lack objectivity and can't let go the concept of rooting for a company. Personally, I grew up remembering a time when Atari was king . . . then Nintendo was the best . . . then Sega (well, at least for a small time), then Nintendo again . . . then Sony. The market changes, tech changes. Yesterday's market leader isn't going to dominate the future.

Its easy to tell Sony that they "need to lower the price", but thats not an easy thing to implement. They ditched the 20GB, happily, because they lost the most money on it. With the attachment rate on the console being so low, dropping the price even further could be more than the company can stomach. The 2007 holiday season is going to be rough for them with the majority of big games coming out in 2008. The PS2 may be a great seller for them now, but not putting God of War 2 out for PS3 as a launch game was just a bad call. I think that game coming out for the PS2 in the 2006 holiday season really robbed Sony of PS3 sales . . . but it sure helped push the already big selling PS2, with its very cheap price tag, out the door. There is no question, the best bang for the buck console out there is the PS2. For $129, you can't beat the selection of new and old games. Don't compare the PS3 to the 360 for a second. Compare it to the PS2. The PS3 has a very slim selection of games, its $600, and it doesn't have a proven franchise blockbuster hit coming out until 2008. The PS2 on the other hand, came out with 2 big games just before the holidays, GoW2 and FF12. Especially since the PS3 had backwards compatability problems when it first came out, there were great reasons to buy a PS2 and few good reasons to buy a PS3. Now, that may sound great, but Sony invested alot of money in the PS3. It needs to take off. Few developers are loyal. They are whores, just like everyone else. PS2 sales are not going to have developers rushing to make next-gen games for the PS3. High PS2 sales does not help sell PS3s.

Over the holidays alot of people talked about the Wii60 people. I think that there were also many people already own, or bought a PS2 instead of one of the 2. So either a Wii/PS2 or 360/PS2. One thing could be said for those PS2 buyers . . . They didn't buy PS3s. That PS2 purchase forstalled at PS3 purchase by at least a year if not more. It certainly doesn't get more developers to add PS3 exclusives. The PS2 helps reduce the massive losses that Sony is taking right now on the PS3, but its strong sales may not help them in the long run.

Again, I don't think the PS3 is a bad console. There may be some tech decisions that they made that I don't think were the best, but I don't think the 360 is perfect either (yes, hard drives should have been standard on all of them). The fact is though, the PS3 is not a real decent value right now. For what is available right now for next-gen gaming, the 360 has far greater selection of games to choose from and a good number of highly anticipated games this year. ALL consoles considered, the PS2 is the best bang for the buck, hands down, no discussion. I don't think I know any console gamer that doesn't have one, and for good reason.

I didn't mention the Wii because it is almost in its own market. It doesn't have alot of games but it's a different sort of system and hard to put up against the others. I think the big separating factor is that the Wii is a system that people seem to buy AND also own another major system.

Yeah this is the only way I can enjoy gaming on 360 or PS3, getting drunk... it's all cool though, because of the extra resolution compensates for blurred vision...

with the wii I don't need to get drunk, actually getting drunk makes it less fun... so yeah, totally different type of game play

Well if you had ever played MotorStorm before..... trying NOT to blow up... isn't an easy thing to do. We were already drinking while BBQing and decided to make things more fun... everyone takes a sip anytime the person driving blows up.

I guess that was the way we filled the void of no 2 player :(

I do enjoy my PS3 while not being drunk ;)

You were talking about the PS3? Really? Maybe I should have clipped specifics out of your post. I admit, I was a little overzealous. Bringing up the PS2 also led me to post other things I had been discussing with a friend regarding the PS2's affect on PS3 sales.

Yes I am clearly talking about the ps3. That is the only instance that I mentioned the xbox360 and it is fact and not bashing the console in anyway.

I found it was interesting that what "challenges" were faced working on the PS3 console were not mentioned. Maybe because the article was run on PSM? Honestly, I think both have their hinderences when it comes to their drive choices. The Blu-Ray drive in the PS3 has a speed problem and the 360 has a capacity problem. For developers, it is good for them to know that each PS3 has a HD for them to work with. That is a problem with the 360 that I'm sure Rockstar faces. After that, its all speculation.

After I saw this topic I when out and got a PS3 with motor strom. I got to say its one damn good console :O I have a 42" LCD HDTV on this PS3 *using HDMI :D * And I love it. I always hear "ps3 sucks, xbox owns" crap and now I think other wise :)

See Sony gamers day did work. It might not be moving millions of units but it does get people to go out and buy one.

I tried to look it up. There were many sources that said they were close to the same and another that showed the 12X DVD with a significant advantage in speed. Being that I couldn't get a good nuts and bolts technical article about it. I'll have to look when I get home. The closest I could find was a speed quote on someone's post in another forum. I don't want to pass that off as fact so I'll have to check it when I get home. What I remember from previous articles were developers having to put redundant information other places on the PS3 discs in order to bring down excessive load times. I know that drive speed was brought up, but I cant find an article that I can open here.

Most users here that speak negatively of the PS3. Can only make assumptions on what they have read on blogs, forums , & fansites. Meaning they cannnot make an accurate review on a product they do not own. To make things clear, I have all 3 systems ( you can verify through my post history)

I did watch some of the coverage from that. Heavenly Sword looks cool. It looks alot like God of War which really isn't a bad thing, I guess. There were a couple other games that looked intersting. I can see possibly buying a PS3 in holiday season 2008, when its around $400.
