AGP club

Hello there, I'm happily running an AGP system.

It still does everything I want it to and I really can't complain too much. There are a few things I wish I could change, but I do not see the need to upgrade the entire system. Apart from making it quieter, the only two changes I would make are to replace the Newcastle 3400+ with a Venice core and the 9800pro with a 7600GT. In the first case, I am unable to find any Venice cores. They only seem to be shipping Palermos in Europe where I am. The 7600GT will eventually replace the 9800pro, but in 6 months at the earliest. It's a card that requires little power and will deliver more than I need.

For me it's as simple as, if it makes me happy, then there's no reason to upgrade. Long live AGP! ;)

Hey Romo - I thought I'd pass along a little tid-bit of info to you: The Palermo core and the Venice core are one and the same - the only difference is in the amount of L2 cache (if perhaps you didn't already know :)). Otherwise the architecture is identical. So if you can find a Palermo Sempron with 256kb of L2 cache you'll be ok. They are quite fast and overclock very, very well.

Albatron Ti4800SE. Kickin it old school :) Hell it still runs all my game perfectly fine at 1680x1050 even with my dual monitor display. In all honesty I never dreamed I would get this much life out of my card. It is with a heavy heart that I will be upgrading from this to a 1950 soon. Hopefully I will get as much life out of the 1950 that I have out of this 4800 :D.

I am going to get a 8800gts 320mb soon :p well im going to build another computer that will be using it but I will still use my current pc so I will still have a agp card :D

lol i upgraded my c2d to pci e, a x1900gt( beautiful, especially for the price). but just built another pc with my old p4 and x800xl

Have you tried the 5950 bios flash? No need to OC.

I looked into the BIOS flash a while back it seemed shakey. It went well for some people and not so well for others. I figured I can just OC the card to the same speeds and there's no need for a BIOS flash. I just used coolbits 2 and OC'd from pretty much day 1 and the card never had a problem.

eVGA GeForce 7600GS 256MB AGP. I'd upgrade my home desktop rig, but I barely use it (laptop FTW!).

Come on nvidiapwnati update this list! I want to see 200 ppl!

dont be cheap by saying many more.

Count me in!
I have 2 agp systems and currently building a 3rd one.
5900 generic nvidia board flashed to 5950 leadtek ultra
asus ti4200 (greatest video card ever, imho ;) )
and hopefully adding x1950gt to my main pc soon!

NF2 soundstorm, mobile [email protected] forever!!!!!!

pshhh greatest AGP card ever was the ATI 9800 series....

BFG 6800 GT oc 256 in da [H]ouse
Bought it the day it came out, first one crapped out last year...BFG sent me another one that had the dual fans, silver shroud, and the copper heat pipes!!! BFG rocks...so does my agp card

In fact i'm going to upgrade my barton 2500, but the agp will stay.

Shhyeah! I'm upgrading to a Pentium D/ASRock 4coredual-VSTA just to hang on to my x800 GTO.

I just bought a e4300 plus agp mobo combo to swap out my brother's old p4 2.4 cpu & mobo. It's paired with an x800gto and runs relatively well for such a cheap setup. Only problem was that wouldn't accept my ddr1 memory (wouildn't boot up), so I had to temporarily remove 2 gigs from my main gig to throw on there. ddr2-800 running at 533... what a waste!

I also want to join!! I have a GeCube Radeon X1950XT AGP card on an ASuS P4P800-E Deluxe mobo with a Pentium 4 EE 3.4GHz

Seriously, though it really all started with the Radeon 9700pro. QUOTE]

I agree, 9700 pro is the best card ever. When it came out, it changed everything.

PS: I wonder if a PCI club will be popular. I still have a 768Mhz Coppermine with an ATI Xpert 128 16mb PCI in my Win 98 gaming machine (for dos games, lol).

heh yup you sure did rusky! :D, anyways sorry that I havent posted here in a looong time.. anyways how are my members doing?and how are your cards? Oh yea I got a 8800gts 320mb card so yup its a pcie card but don't worry I still have my amd*custom built*/dell*I know I know* with agp cards in it and still the same one :D

Me and my AGP systems are doing good. I just swapped out a PCI MX4000 for a good ole Ge-Force 4 MX440SE 64Mb to add to the collection:D
I also have a TI4200 that wont post:eek: :(

But all is well in the AGP world for me :D

Just to let you know there will be at most 5% that there will be a dx10 agp card.... stop dreaming and why not just make the move to pcie?

If these people don't want DX10 (ie: not running Vista), then there's no need to switch. Also, not all games will be DX10 only. Microsoft (of course) is the only company currently set-up to release DX10-only games. If they want Vista like the one person, then yeah, it may not happen with AGP.

None of nVidia's AIBs have said anything concerning an 8-series AGP card, one way or another (more tellingly, neither has nVidia itself). While nV is certainly capable of creating GPU bridges, both nV and their first-tier AIBs have eschewed the Bridged GPU for current-series GPUs to a large extent (didn't the current crop of nV 7-series AGP cards release *after* the debut of the 8-series?). ATI partner Sapphire Technology (http://www.sapphiretech.com) has already announced a minimum of *four* DX10 Rialto-bridged AGP cards (HD 2600 Pro and XT, and HD 2400 Pro and XT); what's amazing is that not even the HD 2600XT will have an SRP greater than $200US (which not only severely undercuts the 1950 Pro and XT, but even the 1650 Pro and XT).

Because the current line of motherboards are not worth it.

Because I am waiting for quadcore amds to be released.

Because I want to wait to see what will happen to the AM2 socket support.

Because my current machine is more than adequate for my current needs (OK, I am jealous of the new latest and greatest. I saw an intel machine in Best Buy with a 8600 GTS kick ass running supreme commander. Well, up till it ran out of memory. Vista 32 with 2 Gig).

As for Nvida- are they really going to let AMD/ATI have the DirectX 10+ AGP replacement market all to themselves?

Because the current line of motherboards are not worth it.

I beg to differ for Intel and nVidia. With EVGA's 680i mobo, or almost any other brand mobo with nVidia's 680i chipset design, the performance and tweaking capabilities are top-notch. However, that limits someone to Intel CPUs and nVidia video cards. So for AMD and ATI, yes, I agree. The current line of mobos probably is not worth it for the AMD/ATI side of technology.

What kind of FPS / resolution / AA settings you running with that 7800gs and that X2?
Play any BF2?

I'm about to buy an Opty 185, and I'm wondering where that card maxes out.
