Has Valve abandon the whole VAC2 thing.

Cause it is getting near impossible to find a server without hackers on. Even the server that i play regularly on are now suffering from the hacker infestation, and no matter how many the Admin ban there are always new one who show up within the hour.

It's guest passes.

You had to know the guest pass would be abused.

I am just staying away for the time being.

Really? On the servers I play on (including my own) we only see one or two hackers a week, if that. As long as they belong to steambans you shouldn't have that much of a problem.

Steambans+VAC2+Vigilant Admins=good server. I really only have a few servers that I play on.

If you guys don't mind could your share some of the server you play on that are relatively hacker free.

They have some awesome servers and a lot of admins. Strict rules FYI though (no porno sprays, swearing, hacking, etc..). I do admit though they are a lil quick to ban for cheating though.

I was banned by one admin a week or 2 ago for cheating (I wasn't. Mini Map + headphones ftw) but after a chat and a cheat scan by another admin I was unbanned. Friendly bunch just a few are trigger happy IMO. (but hey they pay the bills I just play there)

i dont really see many hackers on my servers. The CSSDM server i run gets the bigger majority.....its too hard to hack on surf. I just do my best to have admins on and to make players aware that if they report the hacker on our forums/vent/teamspeak that we can ban them for them. if you run into a hacker you should get some screenshots/demo's and post it on the server's forum.

yea, really cant pub anymore, because i get banned too easy being called a cheater, plus it probaly doesnt help when i start ridiculing them for saying it. scrimFTW.

I don't know.
The server i admin at rarely has hackers for about a month now.
I banned most of them I figure.
You an also establish a trust system where a couple of regulars mail you if they catch any cheaters.

I've kicked/banned an average of 5 a day, usually aim bots..I rarely see anything else these days. I saw a wall hack or two during a gun game but I didn't ban them on the spot, just a warning. Only repeated/serious offenses are perm banned.

But yeah, guest passes are being abused.
And what the hell is with all the people named Cho Sueng (sp?) logging in thinking its cool. I ban those fuckers the minute they log in.

i had a clan come in who all had the names of various mass murderers....timothy mcvay, the colombine kids, cho, etc. People are retarded and want attention in the worst way. Perm banned on spot.

yea, that sucks. im not usually one to advocate political correctness, but those guys are assholes. if you want to get attention for a name, make it something funny, like SpasticNoodle (my old cs name), not something that could seriously piss an admin off. props to you for permabanning them.

BFG Gaming's servers are pretty hacker free. I have not encountered one in a while. Have you tried ESEA?

Webkillers 1 - I admin there all the time, hardly any hackers, lots of admins.

I must have met maybe.. ~10-15 hackers within the past.. 2 years of playing cs:s.. good thing cs:s admins aren't judges for criminal cases, their superior judgement abilities would allow humanities death toll to surpass our birth rate.. :(

I've seen about 8-10 hackers in CS, started playing back in beta 1. So it's been several years. There's far fewer cheaters than many believe.

I've been called a cheater WAY WAY more than 8-10 times. The problem is that in public servers, you get players of all different skill tiers playing together. If somebody is so far behind a player that they don't think it's humanly possible to do it without cheating, well, they call them a cheater.

And that's not an oblique way of saying that I'm unusually good, because this isn't an unusual occurence. I see other players who are obviously legit and are being called cheaters, even if there are other players in the server have no problem keeping up with them.

The volume of cheating has increased with the popularity of CS, but the volume of accusations has dwarfed it by far. It seems the farther up a player is on scoreboards, the less likely they'll start calling other players cheaters. It's usually because they've done similar stunts themselves and can see how it's achievable through skill or lucky hot streaks.

I stopped playing because I'm constantly banned for "hacking". It is flattering, but also annoying as I want to join a community.

The servers I play on havent seen a hacker in...I cant remember when. They ban the retarded childish people, but they know a lot of skill can look like hacking. If they or someone is overly suspicious they will spec the player for a while and if they have a problem kick / ban.

I only play on two servers and both havent seen problems in a LONG time, this is the first I have heard of hacker problems. But I dont keep up with the world at times

I quit playing online CS way back in the 1.6 days due to cheats. It sucks and ruins the game (for me).

CS:S still has it, when I and other non hacks keep getting head shot with the first round from a pistol, from across the entire map as soon as our heads peek out from behind an obstruction...it gets old.

There are hacks such as aimbot that are quite noticable, like the guy's gun would be all over the screen. But, unforutnately, on some severs it gets to me. I sometimes have outstanding games, where I simply get hot, and I get banned for hacking. I think some admins are simply casual gamers that do not know the difference between skill and hacking, and since there are a ton of hackers in CS, even good players get banned, kind of sad.

Valve allegedly wants to ban people in waves so that cheaters can't easily find out what cheats are currently being detected. If people were banned immediately it would be a lot less effective because warnings would go out immediately saying the cheat is no longer safe. However, it does seem like they take their sweet time to ban people.

i hope you're kidding, thier DM server is loaded with hackers

Really? Whenever I'm in there, I don't have a problem. And usually I'll have the person banned if they are. (I'm sometimes not tagged up but seemed clean for me)

Yea... happens to me too... getting banned for "hacking".

So many etards out there....Many times I've been called a hacker by someone spamming the mic saying "how do I defuse?"

Or those who have no clue about the walk button.... run around like a lard ass trying to find chocolate..... "omg your hacking... theres no way you knew I was coming out of that tunnel"

Or those that think they are soooo smart and think they found the ultimate camping spot... but don't realize the map their playing is older than them. :p

Pubsters don't realize how important sound is... if you run, reload, fire, switch between weapon and a nade, press the use button, fall or get hit (by someone spamming a wall or a nade going off) I'm gonna hear you, you chunky fingered fat nerd ... stop breathing so heavy on the mic and maybe you might get some kills :)

You must be really, really lucky; that's, like, one hacker a year. You've seen hacks in action, right?

Yes, that's the 8-10 I've determined to be hacking. All the rest were called hackers, but passed inspection.

In the earlier years, CS wasn't all that popular and there weren't many cases at all. There was a time where someone was able to headshot regardless of where he was facing(the playermodel would look like it was torn in half, with the legs facing forward, and gun pointing backward, to headshot people in 3 different directions and distance on full-auto, he admitted he was hacking of course, no point in pretending otherwise).

Primarily, I look for veteran habits. There's alot more involved than fast reflexes and precise aim. If they're good at using veteran habits in addition to shooting well, they're probably just really good. If they have incredible aim and suck at everything not involved with aiming...then he's either an idiot-savant at aiming, or a cheater. Very few get that good at aiming without picking up on some of the other tricks on the way.

For example, if a guy is incredible at spotting enemies through walls in front of him, but doesn't even notice the enemy running up right next to him, he's not listening to footsteps, he's relying on visually seeing through the walls.

Um... I have to take it back.
Yesterday I had to ban 3 aimbots. Two with their gun all over the place and one that got only headshots without aiming...
I don't know what Valve is doing about all of this, but my guess is pretty much nothing.
The most obvious aimbot still gets through VAC2.
So kudos to Valve for writing CSS, and shame on them for their lame anti cheat system.

I admin on these servers: http://www.thinking-man.net/index.php

As some of the servers previous we have some set rules (no sprays, bad language, basically be civil and mature) and have a great little community. We do have the occasional hacker, but we make sure to get a couple of opinions before banning. Maybe we're just lucky but we don't see them too often.

I'm an admin, and not a noob...

totally! most whine before anything concrete. moral? stick to reputable servers.

GUNGAME FTW GO GO GO!

Does the scoreboard overlap the black bars? I'm going to go and play now to see, i've never noticed that. Brainspazz.

and on another note, there is a guy in here RIGHT NOW, bfg d2 deathmatch that is aimbot/speedhacking

office? EW!! why all you continue to play pussy cs is beyond me, get that fucking knife out and GO GO GO! gungame is the best thing for cs since its inception. we never see hackers. the gameplay certainly helps in reducing the bs so commonly associated with regular cs
