I just bought a Samsung 204B-BK 20.1" LCD and I noticed that I didn't verify what the pannel was. It says it is an a-Si TFT, but I googled that and didn't find anything useful. Is that like a s-ips or TN pannel? The TFT guide in the sticky needs to be updated.

It uses a TN panel and has 160/160 viewing angles with portrait ability, res is 1600x1200,
not the best.

I see many people say "TFT" like it is a separate panel technology....every lcd from the lowliest TN to the mightiest AS-IPS is still a "TFT" panel. The above poster is correct...that particular model uses a Samsung TN panel.

I know what a Thin Film Transistor is......

I was simply having a hard time digging up the specs on this pannel. I assumed it was a TN but I was unclear how to find out if it was 8 or 6-bit.

That wasn't really directed at you but more for the people who say "I'm looking for a TFT lcd monitor" or companies who list that like it's an important part of the specs. I use http://www.flatpanels.dk/skaerme.php to find panel technology because they are pretty accurate. Just type in the model number than hit "Sog" ;)

Just out of curiosity, can an LCD be anything but a TFT panel?
