Dell Censors Panel lottery info. Share info here.

is the lottery finally over? anyone out there with a PVA - Rev A04 monitor?
It seems that way lately...maybe Dell management finally decided all of the backlash on the internet (including their own forum) wasn't worth saving a few bucks on each panel.;)

Ordered 2 new ones which came in a few days ago, (RT803) A04 no dead pixels no bleeding problems. Just great! A bit lower than the 2005 is my only gripe

My guess as well, especially when the 22 inch models cost much less than the 2007WFP. If they do the lottery with the 2007WFP, ppl won't be interested in buying some lottery when the 22 inch offering is a guaranteed panel for a much cheaper price point.

I hope they learn the lesson and if they are out of S-IPS panel, it's better to put it in "backorder" or make a different model like 2007WFP2 for a bit less.

Thanks for the info amdmadman. I was sure it was only a matter of time until the lottery reared it's head again. There was nothing from Dell officially saying they were done with this monkey business, and so it continues.

Note to others asking. Didn't you see that he said it was an A04?

Caveat Emptor.

I ordered mine today for 360$ shipped. Paided with my DPA to get an extra 3% off. Should be here tuesday wednesday. I post to tell what panel it is. I was going to get a 24inch, but the panels are not as good, they all have there issues. The 22 inch LCDs are pretty bad, they and the pixle pitch is to big. Qudos to Dell to be the only company still offering this type of panel and its afforable.

Ordered March 20th received March 29th. Could have saved a couple of days if I phoned back my confirmation earlier. Rev A04, RT803, V1B22 in the "secret" menu. Looks S-IPS to me.

Not to diverge from the thread but is a persistent image common on these panels or am I just looking to hard for a flaw? Backlight bleed is minimal. Zero dead pixels. I don't want to return it but the persistent image concerns me.

It's a "feature" on these monitors. I have that on my 2007WFP and I have seen persistent images on other S-IPS 2007WFP's. Nothing to worry about, and no need to return it. Luckily it's not very visible in normal use and the images disappear quite fast.

Could you guys explain? Mine should be here monday tuesday, and I am just wondering if you are talking about a temp burn in and then it fades away??

Thanks for the reply blue p. I'll be hanging on to this display for a while it seems.

To Vengance_01: I get a colored "shadow" of an image on the very outside edges of the screen where there is often a static image like a scroll bar or the start button. From what I read on some web sites, image persistence is not uncommon in LCD's but is not considered harmful unless the image is static for a very long time. Changing the picture or turning the display off for a while makes the shadow go away. I was worried because I had not seen this in other panels and it does not take long for a persistent image to appear on my display but blue p has basically said that it does happen on the 2007wfp.

To be safe I set my screen saver to start in 5 minutes and my display automatically turns off in 20 minutes. I also set my brightness to 25 and this seemed to help with the persistent image a bit.

Check these articles for some info about image persistence:

Dead Pixel Buddy is a good tool for easily getting an all black or all white screen too.

Just to add myself to the list...

Received my 2007WFP on Apr.5, ordered from Dell Canada. It is a REV A04 made in Mexico - V1B22 RT803 :)
No stuck/dead pixels - It's a keeper!

i know people have confirmed getting A04 PVA's but it seems like everyone is getting IPS lately since it went A04.

also, i am curious, maybe the big machine was too late for Dell to right this lottery mess, and might be just tiding over until they can learn their lesson on the next one. I'm weondering when the updated 20' widescreen is due to come out from them.

I ordered a 2007wfp a couple of weeks ago and I've been using it for about a week now. It's a Rev. A04, made in Mexico, RT803, V1B22.

This is my first LCD monitor and I'm really impressed by it. However, it's got a dead pixel. Should I have it replaced? I'm not sure it's going to be bothering me too much, but the fact that I could have a perfect panel instead is kind of tempting, especially seeing as how I'll probably be using this monitor for years to come. What do I tell them if I want to have it replaced?

Is there a way to save brightness and contrast settings by input source? I have a PC and game console occupying the dvi and vga ports.

I ordered an additional two (2) each new 2007WFP on March 27, 2007.

Shipped from:
DELL COMPUTER WC9 EMP
Austin, TX 78754
United States

Arrived April 2, 2007

First Monitor was Made in Mexico
Second Monitor Made in China

Both are 2007 WFP A04 - Panel code RT803: S-IPS

Has any one truly confirmed they have received a NEW A04 that is
2007 WFP A04 - Panel code PM330: S-PVA?

I have now purchased four monitors and the only S-PVA was a REFURBISHED
2007 WFP A03 - Panel code PM330: S-PVA Made in Mexico,

The other three NEW monitors were all 2007 WFP A04 - Panel code RT803: S-IPS.

If you have received a NEW A04 PM330: S-PVA please post details.

Thanks

I ordered two 2007s from Dell and it arrived last Wednesday. They're all RT803s. The only unfortunate thing is that there is a scratch on the LCD screen on one of them. I'll have to send one back.

Just got a WPF2007 Rev:A04, and the it says RT803 in the service panel. I must have gotten an S-IPS. I don't see many S-PVA being reported in the thread now adays, is it over I delayed a month in my purchase becasue of this mess.

my LCD is comming today. When I get home from school, I will check and see what panel I got.

well, i got mine today and it's a Rev.A04 - IPS panel, and i must say it's absolutly beautiful...!

Hey guys im thinking of buying a dell 2007WFP and want to make sure i order it properly. Do i still need to ask for a A04 revision when i order it? What does the A04 revision even meen?

I did not get mine today. Forgot Dell requires someone home to sign. I will get mine tomarrow and report what panel I got.

A A04 revision mean it has fixes to correct previous issues. It is meaningless for customers, only useful for Dell themselves. However, try to require to get A04 for both and you will surely get S-IPS ;)

Bad News Guys I got a PM330 Rev 04 panel brand new made in mexico. Fucking Dell!!! Time to call them up and ask for an exchange. Grrr. Why me???

It's sad to hear that the lottery is still ongoing

I guess my suggestion of asking for a A04 isn't that useful after all.

well i got through quickly and the exchange is set up. lets hope i get the correct panel this time. should get it middle of next week b/c its comming ground.

Hum I setup an exchange with one due to the screen flickering - just got it today - so I check the box a return sslip but I cant find anything

The only thing was a paper on the outsite : saying
packing slip this is not an invoice and such

did I just score a free screen ?

Heh, I had the EXACT thing happen with me. They said the return shipping would be in the box, it wasnt. I used the unresolved issues link on their website and finally UPS came and picked it up. I think if you dont send your old one back they will charge you the invoice price that was in the box.

You could always try keeping it though until they charge you and then claim they never put the return slip into the box.

there are no invoice in the box either... all I got was a Packing Slip with a weight and model number and other customer info - but no return request - no price - nothing such....

hum wait and see for now I guess -- checking the mailbox tomorow for sure :-D

They also didn't send me a return slip when they said they would. They will charge if they don't get first monitor back in five days after delivery of second monitor (they don't explain that part very well!). You really need to keep after Dell and don't assume all is well even after they say so.

I made things a bit harder on myself after they failed to send first label by asking for a mailing label via email so I could drop off display myself at UPS. I had to wait all day for delivery because of signing and I wasn't going to sit around another day waiting for pick up. I did finally get label but only after Dell people lost my email and I had to make 12 calls or so.

Return the monitor asap. Many replacement monitors don't come with a packing slip, although Dell does say you should be expecting one. They will charge you after 10 days.
