this is step number what in the process?

Scooter, Unfortunately this looks like the first step. You still need to have your POP validated. I would suggest sending moduslink an email referencing your order number and attach the proof of purchase to the email. I had the same thing happen several weeks ago but after sending the email, it was resolved fairly quickly.

Well, my 2nd Vista Business arrived today even though the day before yesterday I received a letter stating they could not ship it.

Weird this is that they sent me Windows Vista Business 'N' . This version does NOT include Media Player. I'm not sure if I should consider that an upgrade or not. :)

I just searched this thread for "64" and no hits so:

I have XP Pro with the upgrade coupon. I just went to moduslink and ran the upgrade application. The only option I got was for the 32 bit version of Vista Business. I thought I would be able to choose either 32 or 64. What's the story on getting this upgrade as 64 bit? If my only option is 32 bit, I might as well keep XP Pro and switch to Linux later (I have no intention of installing Vista until SP1 comes out - at the earliest; I also see no reason to stay with 32 bit for the next several years.)

Business was the upgrade offered when you bought PRO. To receive Home premium, you needed to buy MCE2005

You might want to get right on this, as stuff submitted after March31st isn't eligible.

STAGE2! I entered my 2nd upgrade coupon, and I am happy to say, the website worked like it should have when it was first put up, and I had a confirmation number in 10 minutes. Scanned the paperwork, and sent it off tonight. I will let you know what happens next.

Thanks TypeO, but that is only 1 business day old, so I am not worried yet. Just wondered where in the process that was.

Keep checking and after about 4 days, send an E-mail asking for an update. If there's a problem, they will tell you in an e-mail, and ask you to scan receipts and coupon.

Jump right in! MCE2005 is a second generation ME,as far as I'm concerned.

The reason i'm going to stick to XP MCE2005 is because i have a perfectly adequate SoundCard, Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum ( in VISTA it's Stereo at best) so why should i upgrade to an XFi Card to work in VISTA, but my Audigy in XP is Full 7.1 and EAX Sound is fantastic.

I can't find any reason to change the soundcard just to have Vista installed.:)

Hello,

My copy of Vista HP arrived today!

A quick question, If I install it will my copy of XP MCE become useless and stop working?

I would like to try Vista, but I certainly do not want to use it as my main OS yet. Plus my old SB Live 5.1 sound card wont work.

Many Thanks

See the last few pages of this thread:

I'm willing to bet you ordered a 64-bit version of Vista, but you currently have a 32-bit XP? It seems that anyone who did this has had their order cancelled. It looks like Moduslink made an error in offering the 64-bit versions to some, and is only now realizing it.

No i didn't order the 64Bit Vista, i ordered the normal 32Bit like everyone else, and i do have a 64Bit Processor anyway.

If you would of bothered reading previous threads about all the trouble i have had with Moduslink you would of posted something completely different.

And by the way, i don't think you can order the 64Bit Vista Premium with the Voucher. just the Standard 32Bit like everyone else is doing!.

I just fired off an email asking for an update on my order.

It's been in the Order is Approved status since at least March 11th and on the 11th I was charged the shipping fees and they were reversed the next day or so.

I am starting to think I am never going to get my copy of Vista.

I finally recieved mine on saturday.

No shipment notification, no tracking number, no C.C charge yet.

It just showed up.

my order was stuck on order approved for almost a month.

I am glad this is finally over.

Moduslink just flat out sux

I put my order in on March 12th, was charged around the 20th, and received my package on the 31st. No hassles whatsoever. I didn't even have to mail in the coupon. I just emailed them a scan of my Newegg receipt with my order confirmation number in the Subject.

By the way, I bought XP MCE 2k5, and of course received Vista Home Premium.

I complained to Newegg about this at the beginning of March and they said if I didn't get it by the end of March to contact them back again. I just e-mailed them to let them know I didn't receive it yet. I will let you know what NewEgg does for me.

How long does it take for them to reply to emails? It's been a few days now since I emailed them. I even had my little tracking number on the bottom of it from when I sent in my POP scan.

I really don't want to call and sit on hold for a long period of time on my cell phone, but it looks like I may have to burn up some minutes on calling Moduslink.

-not amused one bit!

Holy cow, I spoke too soon I guess. I checked my email once again just after posting and it has a reply from them saying it has been shipped. The website still says order approved though. :D

Most of the replies from them came about 10-12 hours after I emailed them. Usually they came in around 3-4am. Also my status page still said order approved for about two days after I got the ship notification email. Like I said though, overall I waited just under 3 weeks from placing the order to getting it in the mail.

Mine was in the mail today! 14 days after originally applying online.

This makes me mad. I am happy you got your copy. However I applied for mine on Christmas eve and am still waiting. Next Tuesday will be 6 weeks sitting on order approved and 6 weeks from the time I got the email saying 4 to 6 weeks for delivery. How is it some people wait a long time and others get it fast.

Last week i sent 2 emails asking is it shipped or cancelled, NOT HAD A REPLY FROM EITHER EMAIL?.
It's not weeks i have been waiting, it's MONTHS, next week will be 3 MONTHS!!

Thank you for contacting the Upgrade Redemption Support Centre.
We apologize for the previous emails about the cancellations.
We have just discovered that you had submitted 3 orders, the first order you have submitted has been shipped. For some reason the other orders have been cancelled, probably because we can not ship out more than 1 disc for the same COA number.
Please be informed that your order has been shipped on the 27th of March.
You should have received an email as a confirmation of shipment. You should also receive a second email containing the information on how to track your shipment.
Please be informed that you should receive the shipment within 3 weeks. Please be notified you will first receive the invoice, a few days later the disc should follow.
Should you have further questions, please contact us again.
Kind Regards,
The Upgrade Redemption Support Centre.
Incase your thinking, why did you place the order 3 times, i did, but after every cancellation and after Moduslink advised me too.
So for the next 2 weeks i shall see if all the trouble i've had is going to have been worth it, NOT!!.
PPS, after i received the email i decided to call them, again, to see if they could clarify my order shipped and cancellations, and the polite guy said he will get MICROSOFT to call me direct, THIS I CAN'T WAIT FOR, just to tell them what i think of MODUSLINK, that will be worth it.

Put in a FEW kind words for the rest of us in this thread. I just put in a second order in the middle of March. I got a confirm# right away, but today I get an e-mail from the TECH GUARANTEE website, requesting a POP for my RETAIL purchase of MCE2005. I wonder how many of those braindead people out there, know that MCE was never sold in a retail box.

Ok, here is a list of tips for the next program like this for Microsoft:

1) Don't contract with Moduslink

2) Contractor shall have a working website with real time status tracking. None of the garbage we had with Moduslink where people got their shipments and the status was two and three stages behind on the site.

3) Contractor shall have clear and agreeing instructions on how to participate in the program. None of the conflicting info we had with Moduslink with what the website says, the emails say, and the people on the phone say.

4) Email will not be used, online forms and realtime information will be used. Email will be a last resort.

5) Contractor shall be able to perform the work and shall be prepared to do it on a timely fashion. It is now into April and people still haven't received their software. That is at least 8 weeks now. Part of the working status updates of the website will show wether or not the OEM has prepared Moduslink with the DVD's. That will stop alot of the confusion on why we are waiting.

I for one will not be participating in this program during the next roll out of Windows. I will hold off on my PC purchase until they are shipping with the new version of Windows.

There was two ways you could get MCE2005. One was with the purchase of a PC. The other directly from a retail location without a PC. Note that they said retail PURCHASE of MCE2005, not retail COPY of MCE2005. (going with what you said).

Also try to remember, Vista was released only two months ago. There are thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people wanting to take advantage of this offer. Things are going to get messed up. Moduslink just bit off more than they could chew and its showing. But there are still a lot of us that they did come through for.

I hear that argument come up from time to time in this thread. What totaly invalidates that arguement is that it shouldn't take 3, 4, 5 weeks to simply have the website update your status. What I am refering to is people's status sitting on "Order Approved" long after it should have changed status twice. People recieve their package and they still show it as order approved. Is it possible that their webserver or database server to be backed up with millions of transactions for weeks on end? No, what is happening is their operation is a POS and that has more of a factor in why this program is so screwed up then having too much business.

My bad, I meant for the purchase of my retail software. Unfortunately for those of us who did buy OEM, the Tech guarantee website for RETAIL products, works excellent. I don't care to mention how many E-mails to Moduslink it took to get across the fact that my copy of MCE2005 was an OEM product, and NOT a RETAIL box product, and then STILL get yet another E-mail, directing me to the Tech website.Maybe Vista only launched 2 months ago, but the Moduslink website has been around since Nov 2006. The wait didn't bother me, it was the failure of the website, and total lack of any reasonable response, that kind of gets you hot. Seems to me that a "world Class" operation like Moduslink could have ponied up enough to hire a few people, who actually knew the product being promoted.

I can't believe that the 1st Order i submitted in Early January after 2 Cancellations of the order number, and after Moduslink calling me direct to give me a new Order number and that was also Cancelled, it's the first one which is said to have been SHIPPED?.
Order Number : XXXXXXX
Order Status : Order is shipped
Shipping Date : Tuesday, March 27, 2007
Carrier : Spring
AWB# : Unknown

I have been noticing that i am starting to bleed from the ears from all this, and i still await the call from Microsoft this week, i got no more Tissues, "MEDIC"!!
