What games have you regretted buying?

We've probably all picked up a game or two that we've never liked or couldn't run and weren't able to return.

The first game that comes to mind for me would be Battlefield: Vietnam (Edit: and Battlefield 2).

Hype, advertisements, word of mouth, misleading or lack of a demo, whatever the reason, what games did you buy that still make you think the ~$50 would have been better spent?

KOTOR II (like $20 at Micro Center sometime last year)
Quake 4 ($10 DVD Go Gamer deal)
Lemonade Tycoon 2 (I played the demo, really liked it, bought it, downloaded it, got bored after an hour)

Can't really think right now.

Ground Control 2, BF:V are the two that really stick out for me. When I first bought BF2, until nVidia updated their drivers.. :) They were pretty high up there too, but that got resolved.

FFVIII

Wasn't horrible, just slow-moving, drawn-out, and boring at times. I'm sure it would've been a lot better had it been a bit abridged.

Sum of All Fears. It was in the bargain bin for cheap, but still, I coulda' gotten a burrito with that money and had more enjoyment.

I regret buying Rainbow 6 Vegas for the PC because it runs like junk on my rig. Not the game's fault though. I will keep it in the closet until I get a better system later in the year or somethin'...

STALKER!!!!!!!!!!! God i was pissed, it seems whenever i look forward to a game it just sucks or its not as good as i think its going to be. Stalker was just one of those games. but its weird a game that i bought spur of the moment was guildwars, it was funny i wanted to get an rpg and ive never playd one before, i had diablo 2 in my hand and i was walking to checkout and i just saw guildwars and i was like i think ill try that instead. i have never heard of it and i just saw it at the store and i got it. now i have 1560 hours logged in and it was the best gaming decision ive ever made!

STALKER FTL!!!

it IS the game

Recently: Battlestations Midway, Crackdown, Viva Pinata, and STALKER.

That's like $200 I could've had in my pocket right now.

Oh and American Wasteland for PC. SOOOOOOOO many bugs and it ran like absolute shit on my system. specs in sig.

Battlefield 1942 comes to mind over any game as it just didn't work. Played the demo before it shipped and it rocked. Bought it launch day and it wouldn't run worth anything on the same machine. Took them a month to patch it to the level that the demo was at. Yea have yet to buy an EA game for the pc since that.

Kinda regret Splinter Cell Double agent for the 360 as I don't like the timed missions and shit for the bad guys and ended up beating it with a friend on his system.

As of late SSX Blur for the Wii. Can't stand it. It is as of now just gathering dust.

The only game I really ever regret buying was Dead or Alive 3 on the original Xbox. I went and got the console on launch, and was looking to pick up Halo, but they had sold out of the game. I didn't want to go away empty handed, and although I'm not a huge fighter fan (though I love the Virtua Fighter and Soul Calibur series), I thought I'd give it a shot.

The graphics were nice, the enviornments were cool, but the game got old very fast. In the morning I went to another store (since I got the system at midnight), and bought Halo and hardly put DOA3 in after that.

I have a lot of "so-so" games on many of my various systems, but I've usually gotten them when they were on clearance, or I found a good deal, so I never really regretted buying them. DOA3 I paid full price for, and it wasn't worth it.

you didn´t like Viva Piñata ?!?!?

I didn't like either.
It was addictive when I was gaining new stuff all the time, but then it got really far between incentive rewards, and the work towards getting the rewards got old and a bit too reliant on chance for my tastes. It didn't turn out to be enough gameplay.

I also hated Dead or Alive 4. It involves too much memorization in order to play well.

I'm finding that unless the GRAW2 connection dropping is fixed, I will regret buying that game as well. The singleplayer was pretty fun, but too short to justify the cost. The multiplayer is pretty decent(Though still not what I'm accustomed to in PC multiplayer games) too, but I lose connection 50% of the time and that's too much time and disappointment to just get a game started.

Guild Wars felt empty, didn't like it the excessive instancing, it felt too disconnected.

Defcon seemed cool but it didn't turn out to be that enjoyable for me, even considering the very low price.

Novadrome on XBLA was crap. An impulse buy because the price was so low, but unfortunately it wasn't even worth that.

But meh, games are the only thing I spend my disposable income on and I've already got my savings planned and taken care of. I don't mind the occassional lemon. Though I regret said purchases they're not going to bother me all that much.

Lego star wars for xbox. A 5yr old could play the game. I thought it would be cool and regular but with lego characters. Only time I ever bought a game without reading anything online.

Worst 10$.

Nocturne for PC.
What a pile of crap.

I also regret purchasing Motorstorm. It's soooo boring... and the online games were filled with retards who yelled on their mics "CAN ANYONE HEAR ME? IS THIS WORKING?". :\ Jerks.

Any sports game that I didn't play a full seasons worth of games. (I still buy at least one sports game from each sport I like for every system for some reason)

Recently, I picked up that Attorney game from Capcom on DS. It's not terrible, just something I have some regret buying, but I'll hold on to it.

Worst regret of all time for me is a sports game. I returned HardBall for Genesis, to get Tony LaRussa's baseball. HardBall was a much better baseball game.

Although there was that time I got Sonic Spinball for my birthday instead of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 like I had asked for...

The most regrettable purchases I ever made was getting the 7th Guest and the 11th Hour on the PC, and Wolfenstein 3D on the SNES.

Battlefield 2 and Special Forces Exp.
Star Trek Legacy (mods and buying a 360 contoller were the only improvement)
Flight Simulator X: The FS Slideshow (no current machine can run this as it was meant to be) It's currently sitting on my shelf awaiting the new gaming only PC I'll build later this year or early next.

Man... every game in the last 2-3 years. My god. Last good game I played was like Hitman: Codename 47. CS:S too actually, but it gets boring after a week of hardcore playing.

Well I almost exclusively play Gungame on team deathmatch in CS:Source now, for some reason I just like it alot better then plain counter-strike, only game I've bought recently that I didn't play all that much was MotoGP3 and thats only because I think MotoGP2 is actually a better game in pretty much everything except for graphics, besides that I have been careful with my recent purchases and like everything I've bought.

Although awhile ago I bought Dungeon Siege, and although it's not a terrible game, it's pretty boring cause the game pretty much plays itself, oh and I guess Neverwinter Nights was a disapointment, but it was redeemed through online persistant worlds, although now I won't play them, I did sink hundreds of hours into it before.

Vice City for PC. Played it for 6 minutes. XBOX version came out soon after. Console version FTW.

Yeah, GunGame did get me occupied on the last week of CS:S, but then I dumped it. I'm not a fan of mods and the like, I only play official stuff, don't know why. Plus there were too many non-DM servers.

Cold Fear for PS2. Utter and complete garbage. It COULD have been a good game. The voice over was .... abject rubbish. The combat system.. OMG.. I kept giving it chance after chance...and I still hold a glimmer of hope..:(

Maybe the PC version was better. But I couldn't find it at the time.

I wonder why? I enjoyed San Andreas and Vice City much, much more on PC. The graphics certainly blew the PS2 out of the water (I can't even stand to look at the PS2 version). The aiming controls were much better. The only thing I can think of is that you didn't like driving with the keyboard keys. You can use a controller, of course.
