Ok..so maybe thats not his exact words...but isn't that what he is implying?

I loved the Wii when I had it..I just didn't like the games on it because I am more of an FPS guy.
 
You probably find just about the same amount on both and probably more little kids on the 360 on live.

It's so annoying.

Agreed...was playing Gears of War yesterday...and I hear this high screech of a voice say "Go over there and stay there. I am so good at this game. So do what I say and we will win" :D

I'm hoping he was misquoted. Even if he was just joking... low f**king blow.

I'll admit Nintendo caters to the younger demographic. I know that I am not the target audience for "Pokemon". I accept that. But, damn you, don't call me a 14 year old or immature just because I like Nintendo products!
 
actually I bet Wii owners are older on average then 360 owners... it seems to be more of a 20 something social console then the hardcore teeny-boppers who are on Live
 
He's off the mark. Sounds to me like envy, the Wii is still selling like hot cakes and on track to surpass 360 in sales or so I've heard.
 
I have all three systems. What does that same about me? lol. Idk if this is true for any of you who have Wiis, but i'm 20, and i'll admit I rarely play my Wii, but my parents love it. They never played any much games, because of the amount of buttons, and the sensitivity of a joystick was confusing, and frustrating for them. But, with the Wii, they can have a bunch of fun, and not have to memorize a bunch of buttons, and button combinations. It's fun to watch my parents play bowling against each other.



Also, about the original post... it's stupid that Microsoft, and Sony are hitting low blows against Nintendo. It's really annoying, and at least Nintendo has some class in not saying anything, and just standing by their product, rather than bashing the competition. Nintendo could easily say to Sony, "Haha you suck, we win, haha. We sell 4 million more console than you... haha." You know, whatever...

I doubt the install base for the Wii is older then the 360. I know a ton of 20 somethings that have 360s and I'm the only one out of the bunch that has a Wii. The guy has a point about Nintendo marketing to a younger crowd, although he could have made it in a different way that didn't sound as condoscending toward Wii owners.

Also, just because all you hear are the "hardcore teenyboppers" on live, doesn't mean they're the only ones out there. The more mature ones just don't stick out like sore thumbs.

To be fair, Sony has made it a point to make at least one stupid comment a week for the past six months.

Still, dumb comment. Congratulate Nintendo on their success and move on. Be the bigger man. Trash talking in marketing only makes the trash talker look bad, not their intended target.

Seems to me that truth is a defense to the accusation.

I love nintendo, it started my interest in, and expanded my horizons regarding gaming.

The two best game franchises ever are zelda and mario. That all said, the wii is a disappointment for a lot of people. At least right now with nothing but crappy ports and party games, and I can't really disagree with the assessments of nintendo's current state. I thorougly look forward to their changing this when some kickass games come out like metroid and project hammer and brawl, umbrella chronicles and so forth.

I may think they're right, but I think they're making a dumbass marketing blunder by saying it. They just look defensive and stupid. How's that for bashing?
 
Many older players may prefer the Wii because when they were growing up, they probably played NES or SNES and the Wii brings them back to those old school times. ;)

I don't know though, I only wanted a Wii for like... a day because i thought for some stupid reason it was going to get all the great FPSs and RPGs that are on the 360.

I'm just not that interested in the newer Mario games anymore...or Excite Truck.

Microsoft should start pumping out more than FPS's because the Wii gets more action than the 360.

I kinda agree with him. Regardless, it says something about some of you if you actually take offense to it. Nothing wrong with being a kid at heart and enjoying more of the kid friendly nintendo games.
 
It's a little early to be labeling any one of these systems' main demographic. His comment seems completely off base...people who buy the Wii are all over the place in regards to demographics. That's why it is successful...it appeals a broad spectrum.

I agree also...The party games and kid friendly stuff stopped appealing to me when...well...I wasn't a kid anymore. Of course I don't speak for everyone, its just me.

Around the 14 year old time frame I did start getting into serious gaming and kinda forgot about Mario Party.

Although like the Gamecube... the Wii will have those select few games that will make it worth buying the system for. Right now I wish i had a Wii for Super Smash Bros Brawl.

EDIT: Mario Kart is still one of my favorite games :)
 
I'm 24...my wife is 21...we love Wii...most of our college friends who have played Wii love it.

Wii didn't suddenly stop enjoying easy to pick up and play games when Wii turned 14...Sometimes I want to take a break from hard core flight simming, and just Wii it up!

I look at it this way. I only have an Xbox live Silver account. The reason is I got so sick of all the stupid kids that just descovered how cool swearing is. :rolleyes:

All of my friends on my Xbox live console are 16 and under, (I work at a boarding school and play lan games with the students) while all of my friends on my Wii range from 27 to 59. (parents) I love both consoles, but I guess I have had the exact opposite. All the kids have 360s and the adults have the Wiis, but whatever. :rolleyes:
 
Maybe those parents you're talking about should start parenting their kids on XBL.

Anyways, all ya have to do to see his point is look at the games and see if you can honestly tell me the Wii is meant for the same age bracket as the 360 and PS3. If you can, I'll say you're full of it.

depends on the game really. "14 yr olds" think they're so bad ass when you get a melee from behind in halo 2. then they proceed to teabag you and talk shit even though they're doing absolutely nothing to help their team out or their score completely sucks ass.

EDIT: quotes around 14 yr olds...because even adults seem to take the same fucking mentality. great, you killed me, heres a damn cookie.

They aren't meant for any age bracket, they're meant for people who like to have fun. Simple as that. Anyone who says otherwise is full of it.

Yeah, the 360 and PS3 might have more "mature" games, but what you're going to find is more often then not the people dying to play those "mature" games are 12 year old boys. That's why Xbox LIVE, with it's lineup of violent shooters, is filled with children.

I'd rather play Mario Kart than Halo anyday. I'd pick the latest Zelda over the latest third person gorefest anyday of the week. I still love my shooters, but the games Nintendo offers are just much more appealing to me.

If that makes me "immature" so be it, I really don't care what an out of touch marketting mouth thinks.
 
What a stupid, ignorant thing to say. I thought you were above Sony's level, MS, wtf? I love my 360, but had they been in stock 3 months ago I very well might have bought a Wii (I'm 22) When are these people going to learn that degrading other companies' products does nothing but make your company look like a bunch of snotty assholes?
 
I don't see the negativity in his comment, hes just commenting on what he thinks both caters to, just over generalized the shit out of it

over all i think all he said was the Wii was a gimick (which it is but a seemingly successful one) that appeals only to the 14 and younger crowed, which was disproved by 1up and their magazine, but he never mentioned Wii owners being immature, since it is possible to be a teenager and act more mature then a 25 year old
 
Only exec I haven't heard about crashing people launches with boats or calling others game crowds immature is Nintendo.

Nowadays when people say mature games they mean- Gore fest + boobs. While immature means- Good game play and strategy. :p
