Got my Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p display today!

Can we please make this a stickey?

It's gotten over 292,988 views!:D

I hate you people! ;) I just bought a Samsung 226bw for gaming and now I run up on this thread and want to replace the 226bw.

You guys need a faq on the first page becuase there is no way Im reading all of those pages :p

So can someone tell me out of all the responses in this thread what is the over all opinion on ghosting on the 37" Westi playing FPS pc games? Even a smidgen drives me mad. My 226bw handles games extremely well.

Also this monitor does not have a tv tuner if I read the specs right. Is there a good resonably priced tuner recommendation in this thread?

The consensus is usually positive on ghosting. Few people ever complain. Me, I see none at all in FEAR, Oblivion, CS:S, HL2, and UT2004. However, be aware that perception of ghosting is quite subjective, even with the very same monitor. I've heard people say they see "horrible ghosting." There can be minor factory differences, but those can't account for "horrible ghosting," so it must be individual perception. In other words, try.

Depends---HD tuner or otherwise? For standard-def TV, any cheap VCR or DVD recorder will do just fine. For HD, I can't really help, as we don't get HD at all in my area  so I never even tried.

That last post got me thinking. This thread really DOES need to be a sticky, AND it does need a FAQ.

I volunteer to go through all the 159 pages and put one together---if someone is willing to help. :) Anyone?

I will give you a hand after finals tomorrow! :D

Does anybody have any idea what is the difference between v1.8 and v1.0? I have v1.0 and thought that was the final. Does v1.8 like make cookies or something?

Finally got here, also got a Samsung 206bw for the portrait view.

nice clean setup man. How much did you get the samsung for cause I want to grab a 19 or 20 for photo editing in portrait.

Just got my Westinghouse back from RMA.

Gotta say their whole customer support operation could use some work.

First time I call up they take my information and start a case number, but they put my telephone number in wrong which was apparently a big deal because that's primarily what they use to look up your information.

I sent out the TV via RMA which costs me $145 :|, it shipped 2/21 and got there 2/27.

I called them 3/8 or 3/9 (I have to check my records) and ask them when the TV is going to be shipped back, they tell me they'll call me back, no call back. I call them the next day and they tell me it will be shipping out around 3/15-3/16.

I called them yesterday 3/20 (3 times...) to find out if it has been shipped and they say it has and they give me a tracking number. I check the tracking number and I find out it was delivered to UPS on 3/13 and been stuck at UPS for 6 DAYS!!! They screwed up the address, so UPS couldn't deliver. That's an honest mistake, but since it's a 5 day ship from Cali to NJ that means when I called them on 3/8 it had already been shipped.

They need to get their shit together. All in all if they gave me the correct information the turnaround on the RMA was actually really fast, also they couldn't fix the TV so they sent me a brand new one, remote, cables, manuals, etc... So I can't complain too much.

That is the exact reason I got the 4 year Best Buy warranty with my Westinghouse 47. They have the worst customer service when it comes to RMA.

Yeah, seems to me any TV over a certain size it's worth it to buy the replacement warranty considering the cost it is to ship it out.

The RMA itself i'm very pleased with, they just seem to have a lot of communication issues between CS and the RMA center.

I love this monitor! I'm still just as impressed by it as I was when I got it. I got my xbox360 a couple weeks ago while still at my mother's house, and had it hooked up to her 47" Samsung 720p TV. It's an older rear projection TV. I thought everything looked great on it, a little bit blurry, but pretty good nonetheless. Well when I got the 360 back home and started playing on the Westy, I could not believe the difference! Everything was so much sharper and clearer, it was like the difference between SD and HD.

Every time I play a PC game on it, I get this feeling of "wow, this is so cool!" It's great. Games feel more immersive, for sure, and it's great for watching video, too. I like that the res is what it is, it keeps me from spending any more money on PC upgrades. One of these days I am going to get Daggerfall set up on the Westy PC, lol.

I really wish I'd bought this thing sooner. I might look into getting my fiance one for his birthday, too, still several months away though.

tygirl, I share your enthusiasm. This is really the best purchase I've done in a very long time. When the times are mature I will consider a 70" DLP for TV and movies, though it will be hard to have such a huge thing in a college dorm room, lol, even a single like my own), but even then I will keep the Westy as my PC and gaming monitor. My only serious complain is less-than-average black levels--and seriously, I can live with that.

Best. Monitor. Ever. for the price (and actually up to $2k-ish). Period.

I sent in a request for the thread to be stickied, hopefully it happens. If you guys get a FAQ going, PM me so I can paste the info. in the first post.

Of course.. why would Westinghouse pay for thousands of monitors to be shipped back to them for an optional firmware upgrade?

Supposedly they make you pay if there's something wrong with it too I hear :(

Lose/Lose situation.

I know how you feel. I bought this thing to use as a monitor for my 360 and then quickly built a computer to got with it :D ! I freaking love this thing. Well worth the $$$. Feb was a very good month for me best $2300 total I ever spent! Not to mention GTR 2 looks great and so does fear. Now I get to play some games on it with no remorse for a week since finals are done.

This is a steal for the $999 that I paid for it. Buy this thing. It is worth it.

I'll close with some pictures (remember that my camera sucks and the lighting represented in the pictures is not true to life.. it looks much more vivid):

Can you post the wall papers links for those two backgrounds? Please, and thank you :)

If mine breaks and Westinghouse hangs me out to dry, I will buy a 2407 and call it a day.

*knocks on wood* Of course I hope that doesn't happen ;)
