It's been a looooooong time since I've bought a power supply, and back when I did you didn't have to worry terribly much about things like video cards power draw etc, heck I still have a Ti4200 card! But now I hear flashy words like "rails" etc, and get the basic gist of it, but with my new system (most likely a e6300 with a X1950, pro or XT) I still am a bit confused about power supplies and how much is needed, I see numbers mentioned about how you need xx # of amps on the 12 volt side/rail, but what about something like this power supply, which has 3-12v rails, each which supplies 16 amps, is this going to be sufficient?

Finally, is this PSU any good? I really don't want to have to spend $100+ on a powersupply if I can avoid it.

Also, there's three different Trio models out there. Which one and what is it powering?

Sorry, the 430 watt version, which has 16amps on each of the three 12v rails.

It'll power a e6300, on a ds3 mobo, with a x1950 (pro or xt... still deciding)... or if I stop being so cheap I might actually go for an 8800gts, along with all the approriate other goodies, couple hard drives, dvd burner, etc.

Also, looking at the pictures on newegg the fan for it is a 120mm fan which looks like it's on the top of the thing, does this mean I need a case with an open top vent? Or am I just looking at it wrong and it should be mounted so the fan is on the bottom of the PSU where it sucks air into it and "passively" lets it out the back.

The photo shows it upside down so you can see the fan. It is mounted with the fan down and it takes air out of the case.
