Viewsonic VX2025wm arrived! First impressions and pics

Well that's good to hear.

I'm surprised the monitor doesn't just add a couple black bars to the sides of the screen when running in 4:3. It's quite annoying that it stretches it...

It's a midrange monitor, they don't usually come with 1:1 pixel mapping (most usually saved for high-end monitors).

Does anyone have the ViewSonic VX2035WM? I'm thinking of picking one up but I really haven't heard much about it.

From what I've read the VX2035WM is actually inferior to the VX2025WM, it uses a TN panel which has poorer viewing angles.

Yea, you better grab the 2025 while you still can. The 2035 just has some Vista nonsense, but it is 6-bit and TN panel (at the same price?!).

I concur, this is an excellent monitor. Sad that the 2025 is going to be phased out in favor of the 2035.

Hmm was going to wait until I up graded to a new video card but you guy's are making me feel as though I should jump on this now.

Even after a year though, would you still say that this is the best widescreen monitor in the 200-300 range? Are there better buy's out there or soon to come out?

I have had this monitor for over 6 months now... Soon to be getting a second monitor of a larger size / resolution... But regardless, I made my decision to buy this monitor then, based off of the information in this thread... I don't regret my decision, it has allowed me to enjoy things in such a vibrant light... I use a TN Panel monitor at work, for me it is noticeable difference in quality.. (I bring my comp to work for down time its a M-ATX so its portable).. So its the same computer I am using for comparison's sake... TN Panels aren't horrid, but much dimmer in color vibrance, it doesn't feel like anything is reaching out to me when I game on it... Where this Viewsonic 2025 makes me feel like I am being washed in heaven's rays of glory and quality...

Worth every penny!

Exacltly like me! I love this monitor and I will too upgrade to a bigger monitor Dell 2407. But I do not regret one thing about this monitor it does everything it says and more. I will be using my monitor as a TV beside my 24" and for mayby for my xbox 360 too.

I've heard that as well but cant confirm it ..viewsonic says both the VX2025WM and the VX2035 have the same panel type:

LCD Panel Type 20.1" Wide Color TFT Active Matrix LCD

can someone confirm this? cant find the VX2025 anywhere so my decision to buy the VX2035 hinges on the panel type

I got a better deal. Mwave had it for $185 + shipping. I think I bought the last one. But keep checking back. It was just a hair over $200 with shipping! :D

Wow that's a bargain. This screen is much more expensive in Europe. I bought my from the cheapest place I could find, a store in France (I live in Sweden) for around 4000kr (sek) + shipping, I think. That's equal to $570.
And I'm very happy with mine even for that price.

I know this isn't the right place for this, but I was just wondering if anyone is looking to pick up one of these. I'm looking to sell mine because I really really am missing HDCP support.

I got a PS3 but no HDCP, so I'm stuck with my SDTV. Anyways send me a PM.

my local circuit city is selling the 2025 for $299 in nothern virginia.

if you live around here check it out. only one of two circuit citys selling them in VA (dude checked the database  )

so, why did they discontinue (it's discontinued right?) the 2025 and then replace it with a TN model as an upgrade?

you'd think they'd just upgrade the MVA panel to a better one if they were upgrading the model.

and now that you mention it you dont see alot of MVA paneled monitors out there (not even sure exactly of its pros and cons), wonder why they chose that one, it does seem like a more premium technology.

a friend of my owns one, it looks good and is probably the one 20" widescreen that seems to have almost zero "controversy" and unlike the NEC is actually affordable, so the fact that it's discontinued is...well....it's as if fate is conspiring against me in every way on this issue.

Yesterday, I started playing Titan Quest. The colour look a bit off, the white wash out other colors.

Did anyone did a colour calibration? Care to share your calibrated custom colour settings?

Thanks.

Hey all, I just had my friend come over who has an eye-one xt calibrator, we tinkered around for about half an hour and I think we managed to get the colors close to perfect so here are the settings.

Red 95
Green 95
Blue 97

Contrast 74
Brightness 54

You will also need to download and use this icc color profile, then you colors should look pretty close to perfect, of course every monitor is different so your mileage may vary.

Heres the link to the file:

Btw this profile was made for a mac, so im not sure how to use it on a windows box
The gamma is also set at 2.2 the pc standard and where it should be for color accurate photo editing.

Hope this helps

I just got this monitor, it was $200 off of ubid. It's awesome in comparison to my budget CRT, the only downside is that I found out it was factory refurbished by looking at the packing slip. It's more of a complaint about ubid though, that they didn't mention it was a refurbished monitor. Very nice monitor.

Yep, the following settings did a great job with Titan Quest, at least for me. I can a difference, for the better. I am happy now, so I don't need to bring out my 19" CRT. Once again, thank you!

Glad I could help,

Out of interest were you using a mac or pc with the icc color profile? If you were using a pc was it difficult to set up?

I'm using it on a PC. Since I had Adobe stuff installed, there is an Adobe Gamma icon in the Control Panel, where I load up the color profile. It maybe a problem if you don't have Adobe stuff?

Did any one hooked this monitor with PS3, if yes hows the display and graphics! im going to buy this monitor so plz answer my question.

I tried hooking mine up with a HDMI > DVI but I just get a black screen. I guess the PS3 needs HDCP for the XMB and games too.

HDCP is only required for playing blue-ray, in 1080p. This lcd can't display 1080p.

1) Did you set PS3 to 720p?
2) Is the lcd on the right source? DVI, not BNC?

Have you tried to hold down the power button until the unit beeps two times? This will make the unit search for compatible video modes.

I've tried every store, online and otherwise, that I know of in the Greater Toronto Area but I haven't found any store that still has stock of this monitor. Does anyone know of any other methods of getting this monitor besides eBay?

Newegg has some open box monitors for like $210 + $20 shipping, but I would be really hesitant about buying open box LCDs from Newegg. You're sure to get the ones with dead pixels or other problems that people have returned...

Hi, how did u apply these settings in PC ? When i load the profile, i cant change the brightness/contrast sliders. So the colors are all messed up.

I have had this monitor for quite awhile and just recently noticed an issue with it.

In my lower right corner there is like a grey spot. It isnt a dead pixel or anything. If you touch the screen to where the pixels react, you can see the spot is actually behind it... Like somehow dust got behind it. How exactly should I fix this, It is under warranty but im scared i would recieve the lower 2035 instead of what I paid for.
