Show Your LCD(s) setups!!!

Just a reminder of why everyone needs a 1920x1200 screen-- to fit in pictures of everyone else's LCDs in their browser windows without scrolling :D
Its a waste of space to run a browser full screen on a 1920x1200 display.

Hehe. I was half-joking. I agree that images should not be quoted.

I guess that's when dual monitors come in handy though

When putting up those arms for monitors on your walls, do you guys check for any electrical wires running down behind the walls at all or do you just drill away?

I drill away. I mean I am drilling into a stud, so I doubt there is going to be any wires running through that stud at the depth I drill.

Go Bucks! ;)

:) Looks like your Bucks Aren't going anywhere this year ;) Michael Redd is awesome though.

@NiC - What's that string? Do you have a window 8ft off the floor or something? Or a really high light? Nice phone btw.

I second that, that desk is freakin' sweet. MUST HAVE IT!!!!

I hope it's not custom made, that would really ruin my day.

They have that Black glass desk @ Office Depot, last week when I was looking for a glass desk I saw it and almost got it because it does look sweet.

A) Kind of cheapy looking in person, the drawer was really flimsy when I pulled on it. Made of cheap metal I would assume.
B) The chair for the desk set is REALLY ugly and goofy looking, plus REALLY uncomfortable.
C) I was looking at a few glass desks, and some of the glass desks have a REALLY LOW weight limit.. I think this one was 50 pounds. I thought.... that's just disaster waiting to happen if you have some nice monitor(s). You would easily lean on it one time, BAM, out $200+. When buying a glass desk, you want to make sure you won't break the damn thing! There are thicker glass desks at Office Depot, not black though.

It was cheap, under $100. REALLY.

Wow, tell me some more about that chair, please. Brand/model. I need one like that. It's leather, right?
Wonder if they sell those in Europe.

Meow:

Hah, its too bad you don't live in my apt. building. That chair just got wheeled down to the lobby with a "Free to good home" sign taped to it.

No, unfortunately that chair was nothing special. Not leather, and certainly not comfortable. I am glad to be rid of the old grey beast. Sorry to disappoint :/

The pics don't do them justice. The Evangeline pic looks so real, the colors are great after Spyder calibration. It’s the best 1920x1200 pic I’ve found. There are lots out there but most have too much digital grain or snow in them. This one was scanned from hi-res film. Looks so clean. Anyway… I think they have less input lag than the 2405 and the DVD playback scaled to full screen is the best I’ve seen on an LCD. Games look great. The colors do look different and I’m liking them the more I work with them.

DROOOOL !!! Any ghosting? Would that do HD for a xbox360?

I have a question to all people who have glass desks. How do you like it? Is it hard to keep the glass clean? Do you feel its sturdy?
I'm thinking about getting something like this:
http://www.jysk.ca/en/catalog/furniture/pages/fc45.jpg

I have one nearly identical to the one you posted a picture of. A quick spray of Windex clears up any issues with the glass. I usually do it once every other week or so. It never really gets dirty unless I go a good month or more. The desk feels perfectly study. Glass a over a cm thick and definitely can withhold the weight of a 24" LCD, speakers, keyboard and all that jazz. With that said, cable management is a bitch, so if nice and neat cables are important to you, run the other way and don't look back. :D

Can you take a pic of the 2407 lined up vertically next to the 3007? Is there too much of a gap between the two?

I have 2 2405s and am thinking of setting them up vertically on each side of a 3007.

here's the pic. I tried working with this layout, but, it seems like the pixels are better used in landscape mode.

To add a few more things -- my glass desk tends to attract a lot of dust so I totally agree with the need to windex it week to week. As for sturdyness, in addition to the monitor/speakers/whatever else I ocassionally prop my legs up on the glass and haven't had any issues.

Another benefit is that you don't necessarily have to use coasters for any drinks as the perspiration will obviously not affect glass like it does any type of wood.

here is a link to my desk (nothing too fancy, but the attached shelves are nice to hold printers, etc..)

what do you guys think?

Looks pretty good. Did you make the top part of that desk? I saw someone that took an ikea desk and those metal ikea things and an ikea shelf and made something like that, is this the same thing? And take some better pictures without your cell phone

I used to have some glass tables and shelves in closets. I was glad when I got rid of all of them.
It isn't as cool as you think. Glass tables are extremely noisy (everything you put on it, cups, forks, knifes, batteries, gadgets, it's the worst, makes one deaf!), they're scratchy, ugly (seeing your socks all the time isn't fun at all), and make your hair stand up. They're cold too. Plus it's fragile and therefore angsty stuff. Stress-generators.

I have gladly returned to wood. Good old natural fire-wood. It is best for all table work.

Don't waste your time and money on glass is my advice.

Thanks a lot. Theres more space between the two then I thought there would be, doesn't seem too practical, hmmm not sure what I should do, thanks again.

Well here is my latest attempt. I'm really growing to like it. All I need now is a setup that will allow me to drag the mouse up instead of to the right to get on the other screen.

Tanquen do you have a 1680x1050 version of that Evangeline pic on pg304? By the way your setup is amazing..

EDIT. found it on deviantart :)

That can be done in the windows properties. Right click on the desktop, hit properties, go to the settings tab and drag the second monitor in the little window on top of the main monitor and hit the apply button.

Why is your keyboard in a plastic bag? do you just eat alot around it or something?

Don't mean to be rude, just wondering...

man, you cannot hide anything from the fellas / ladies in here. i have a peanut addiction. did you ever turn your bare naked keyboard upside down and tap behind it several times? tell me what you have and then we discuss further :D

Er, can't you just arrange your displays as such? (As the text says, drag the icons to match the physical monitor setup) My duals are side-by-side but I tried changing my software config and it works fine when I move my mouse upwards. :)

Anyway, nice setup. What display is that at the top, and how does the screen look when being viewed at an angle (from the bottom)? S-IPS looks fine from an angle (except for the blacks) but I know that other display types can end up looking really bad. j/w :)
