Have you tried WC with fans off

I'm new to water cooling but I was wondering if anyone tried running their rig with the fans off. I'm trying it to find out my temps just so I know. With 3 children and a wife, who knows what might happen. It's sort of a 'worse case' scenario test (pump failure and water leak are worse but I'm not going to test those on purpose!! :) )
 
A much better thing would be to have speedfan running in the background at all times...

"shutdown.exe -s -f -t 00" (no quotes of course).

Have it set to shutdown if your temps go above 70c or so.

MBM and Samurize can do this too.

For argument's sake though, with all my fans off, my CPU runs in the 90s load, mid 60s idle after 4 hours.
 
I use a fan controller, and I shut them all off once to see what would happen. Temps slowly went up and I started to get nervous. Turned them back on.

Best thing to do, if noise is an issue, get low CFM fans or use a fanspeed controller like I do. Turn them up when you need em, set em low when you dont. They are almost silent when on the lowest setting.

Hehe its funny how you got nervous about temps like that where as most peoples computers are temps like that daily.

Ah its good to be a computer enthusiast.

there are some rad that dont need a fan , but they are huge and pretty expensive ;)

Is that the command I need? I have speedfan set up as a service and it restarts if I kill it. I have it beep/flash message at 40C and shutdown at 50C. The reason I picked those numbers is I have a problem if they get to those... I would rather have it shutdown a bit earlier rather than later.

I'm not looking to run fanless as my 6v sunons aren't loud at all. My D4 does have a slight whine to it... might try to suspend it off the case to see what happens. I just was wondering what happens if my wife/child starts the computer and the 6 volts don't start the fans (and I'm away from the house).

I got to about 50C on idle/surfing. As long as my son doesn't start playing COD2, I'm good. Otherwise, speedfan will shut him down!!

mani get nervous when my temps ger above 40c is that right ? i think im crazy

That's the command to immediately shut down windows, while ignoring any program input.

I suggest running that command when your temps get to about 75c or so (WARNING: This is assuming Speedfan is reading temps ACCURATELY. 75c in Speedfan might actually be closer to 90c according to Core Temp... Figure out the delta between CT and Speedfan and make sure to include this in your core temp's shutdown temp).

Why don't you run the fans at 7v, shouldn't be any louder but almost GUARENTEES a startup.
 
I've built a few that could run passive even with the system OC'd..........;) The best one was a set of dual heater cores, passive temps never went over the mid 40c's.

I do it all the time, even when gaming. The temps stay down too.

Passive radiators kick ass.
 
I'll bump the temp up a bit for shutdown. I am pretty sure the temp isn't actual but it's the best I have without lots of work.

The 7v fans aren't horribly loud but they are noticeably louder than what I have it on now (it could be closer to 5v rather than 6v). Basically I shutdown the computer and turn the fan speed up a bit (make sure the LED is blue on my sunbeam controller).
