Hi,

I have a:

-Pentium 4 Williamette 1.7 Ghz
-256 MB RDRAM
-ASUS P4T-E Intel 850i
-Sound Blaster Live! 2
-ASUS 7100 Geforce 2 MX
-40 GB WD 5400 RPM

It's getting replaced by a more up to date system, and I was wondering what to do with the computer.

Any suggestions?

Lol, I just dug up one of my old posts to copy into another post. And then I see this one while it was still on the clipboard. So here it is again.

I would definitely turn it into a play computer, where you could do stuff like check out different server apps, such as mail and network storage. Though the Hardrive is kind of small, you could still keep stuff that you want to be able to access on any computer attached to your network...

In other words, either make use of it by turning it into some kind of server or folding box, or the like, or give it away. I'm sure there's some kid out there who would be very happy with that computer.

dude ill take that harddrive.
Im using a 20 becuase my 74 gig raptor died.

I dont understand how much porn you guys put on your computer. You dont need more then 40. Computers should be formated every 4-6 months.. bigger hardrive longer and more stuff to put back.

Ah well. Use that old computer for storage then dump a huge external hardrive on it.

Wow, I'm gong to have to try some of that stuff with my own computer!

Your in the same position as me.

Got an old p4 1.8 that Im replacing with a new build.

Personally as the PC isnt really worth anything but still works perfectly (im assuming this is the case with you) then put it to use.

Mine is getting relegated to a media centre / internet station for the other end of the house. Its going to share all my DIVX movies and MP3s around the rest of the house using the wireless network.

Best part is, if you do all your surfing and downloading on this PC it wont screw up your new one leaving it in perfect condition for games/work or whatever you want to use it for.
