Got my Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p display today!

Haven't tried a dual link DVI yet, but I bought a DVI-D to HDMI cable and it's output in 1080p now.

The 18 pin (single-link) cables don't work very well at all. I had trouble even getting monitor detection going with those, but 24 + 1 (dual-link) works great and reports it's supported modes to the pc.
 
so are you saying that my dvi cable wont work with this westy and that i NEED a dvi-d cable?

wait... so i just counted all the pins on my Rosewill DVI 6' cable and it has 24 little pins and the flat 1/8" one. Is this DVI-D?

Recieved mine early this morning just in time to hook up and play around with for an hour or two. Will be my primary monitor, upgrading from a 2005FPW. Pulling it out of the box and
onto the desk, size made me giggle like a school girl. Excellent colors, great picture quality. So far only could see 1 stuck pixel off to the left. Played some FEAR, CS:S, Dark Messiah, WoW. Amazing. Worth every penny.
 
I've just got mine all setup and trying to figure out all the settings/remote, etc.

Didnt realize the dvd player i had in my bedroom ( a little samsung) was progressive scan, so im going to pick up some component cables on the way home and see how dvd's look on it. Ran Dead Pixel Buddy and have not a 1 dead pixel (YAY)

This is so nice! Its great not to have to lean forward to read things. I can lounge back in my chair and do my work. Photoshop, NICE... talk about room for all the windows and STILL room to zoom in and do my work.

Now I just gotta come up with the cash for my C2Duo build and an Xbox360.

I'm definitely smitten. Even my girlfriend who was so sick and tired of me bickering about what to get for a monitor (24" or this) said 'WOW' : ) heh heh heh I guess size matters! LOL
 
I'm kind of pissed.. crutchfield's shipping company said they were going to deliver my tv today and they didn't.
 
I am running one of these and another on the way. 2 side by side will be nuts in my office.
 
Ordered mine this morning from J&R, will hopefully have it next week sometime. :D

I keep getting more and more intrigued by this westy.. now I kinda am drooling over it.. so do you PC gamers have issues getting games to play well with the 1920x1080 res?? or does it automatically down-scale when it sees a 1920x1200 signal? or something? How does it look for just normal windows stuff like browsing, etc..?

100% perfect, flawless, prestine, etc.. for normal windows viewing if you hook up to DVI @ 1920x1080. It looks just as clear as any other LCD.

Most newer games support the 1920x1080 16:9 ratio.. if not, all you have to do is modify the config file for a custom resolution. There are tons of guides how to do it on the web, so its no big deal. I figured out how to do it for all my older games in like 5 mins.

Anyway, Windows XP and nvidia drivers work well for me and immediately supported the 1920x1080 resolution the second I plugged it in.
 
how do pc games look on this compared to the popular 24 inchers from dell, samsung etc. do they look worse with the larger screen+ lower res combo? less sharp? rly trying to pick out a monitor.
 
It looks really nice. on pc games such as CS:S. 1920X1080 looks really good.
 
Just ordered mine from B&H photo, first time ordering from them, but after checking them out on resellerratings.com I am confident with it. I can't wait to get it, although it will take probably 2 weeks to get here. I hope I am as happy as everyone else is with their purchase. Will post pics when I have it all setup.
 
Mine is arriving today somewhere between 9-5..

Are you sure you got the 37w3? On B&H I only saw the 37w2.

you guys should be so lucky to live in the USA.

In germany we don't get so awesome Monitors or TV for such less money.

There is no chance I can get the Westy 37 w3.
Would somebody be so nice to buy one and send it to Germany?
Somebody has a other idea how I can't get such a nice Monitor for my PC?

i live in belgium, so we are quite close here in Europe.
i bought on ebay from costupdate, i sent money by bank
and now i'm waiting for them to receive the money so they will ship it.

Probably plan my next vacation in the US..... to visit Hooters etc. again.
On the way home I have to make some deal with the customs.. hehe.

It's a fair price, I think.

It's so unfair, the only TV that is quiet similar ist the BenQ DV3750 37" and 1920x1080,
but it doesn't work optimal with a Computer... that means u just have 1280x1024, so there is interpolation.

Oh well, that sucks.

Ya I think the price is fair, wish I would have gotten some of those that JR was selling a $799 hehe but I was on vacation in Germany :).
 
costupdate told me that they will receive the monitor on 15 december 2006. I guess i'll have it on about the 20th
 
Some quick pictures.. It's obvious that I need to do some tweaking to get the 360 to look good. It's way too dark ingame.
