Got my Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p display today!

Anyone know how much the Sam's club service agreements cost? (extended warranties) They don't give figures on their site. Are Sam'sClub extended warranties even available for this set? BestBuy does not offer extended warranties on this set anymore.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Sam's 37 w3 westy $1047.88 + 91.72 shipping + $40? membership fee = 1179.60

And they charge tax to NY state? I'm in western NY state myself, where the sales tax is pretty high at 8.75% ~ + $91.70 on the base price = $1271.30 total

If Sams allows online orders to be returned to the local "brick&mortar" Sams club location, it might be worth it for me since BestBuy does not list my zipcode as available for delivery for the westy 37w3. I prefer being able to drop such large items off locally if there is a problem, and I prefer being able to talk face to face with someone rather than play phone games and in the case of many vendors I'd have to swallow the shipping costs on returns (Crutchfield) .. if they even allow returns (newegg doesn't).

At $1271.30 (after buying membership) the SamsClub price is very good compared to the other dealers outside of special sales/coupons. If they offer a service plan on this set at a reasonable price, and allow returns to the store, I think I would go with them. I may even be able to get a membership cheaper under my brother-in-law's account too.

Hey joker can you link me to that background on your westy? It looks amazing and I think I am going to order that monitor in a day or two and want to use that background =P I also have a 360 and xpsm1710 that I want to use with this.

One of my brand new Acers 24" LCD's is stuck in some sort of reboot and the Acer symbol is in some weird sort of cycle.

Think I am going to give up my Acers and go dual Westy 37" W3's.

ok I looked it up and SamsClub does allow online ordered items to be returned to the store.

My questions now are does SamsClub offer an extended service contract for the 37w3, how much do the contracts cost, and for how long?

The web page says SamsClub uses National Electronics Warranty company for extended service plans, but doesn't go into details about the prices.

is SamsClub no tax?

i just got a 37w3,
my 6600GT only output 1080i.
i am thinking if i am using a PS3 for the BD player which is cheaper than a BD player
anyone can tell me is it a good idea???

and where can i buy HD DVD and BD DVD movies -.-???

Many of the last several posts have mentioned sales tax with sams club. I haven't actually ordered yet to find out, but the rule of thumb I usually use is that if the store has a location in your state that means you are probably going to be paying tax on purchases from them. For example J&R is in new york state so they would charge me tax, and Sams club has alot of locations in new york state also so I would assume they will charge me tax.

----------------------------------------------------
I did find the service plan costs from samsclub. They start after the manufacturer's warranty ends, which I believe is 1yr for the westinghouse 37w3.

1 yr. Service Agreement - Products $1000-$4000 $69.58

3 yr. Service Agreement - Products $1000- $4000 $198.31

I think I'd take my chances and with the +1yr plan to make it 2 years total. I'd prefer 3 or (4) years for $100 or so but they are charging $200 for 3yrs (4yrs total). Thats too much for a $1200 set imo.
----------------------------------------

Sam's 37 w3 westy $1047.88 + 91.72 shipping + $40 membership fee = 1179.60
+69.58 for 1 add yr service contract + 97.77 tax

If they charge tax on both the base set price and the service contract cost, the grand total for me including shipping and the membership fee would be $1346.95 , without service contract around $1283. *EDIT* -- I may be able to get on my friend's samsclub account for only $10, making the overall cost $1296.95 or $1233 w/o the svc contract.

This price is good vs other vendors (before coupons or rebates at a few places) with the major advantage to me being that I can return it to their local store if I had to. -- Why are these sets all available online only?? -------------

HEY ANY 37w3 owner

when i am using PIP , (main YPbpr 1 , sub DVI 1 ) picture is aglare

I dont know it is my 6600gt or the 37W3 problem

DON'T BUY THE ONE YEAR PLAN!

Most Visa/MC/Amex give you one year extended warranty FOR FREE.

My Visa also offers extended warranty for 4 or 5 years for a lower cost than Sams. Check into that.

Here you go:

How do you get an extended warranty from VISA?? I have a visa card.

Also, thanks for the background pic joker

Wow thanks sanvara. I looked it up and my citibank platinum card does have the extra year of warranty deal. You saved me $70 when I order this set :)

Hmm.. I think I'm going to order this. My parents already have a Sam's Club membership, so I might leech off that. ^_^ I've got a 20% off coupon for a "valued customer" at Sam's Club as well.. so, $1047.88 x .80 = $838.30 x 1.06% tax = $888.60. Seems like a steal to me.

But before I order it, what games could I game at native resolution, or would I have to scale the resolution to something smaller? I know its 1920x1080. I know for sure Doom3 will work in that mode, and Quake 4 as well. (follow this guide http://forum.tigerdave.com/viewtopic.php?t=107), but what other games. I'll be purchasing a G80 or two around the first of the year, so graphics power won't be an issue.

Bump, someone help me out here on the gaming resolutions in the post above. :)

Out of stock at Sam's club already! And I was just about to grab one...

glad i got mine ordered late friday should be hopefully updated as shipped monday.

are my eyes deceiving me or am i catching glimpses of greenish tint sometimes when the backlight is at 5

maybe its me and my contact lenses

After I posted this morning I noticed that the Samsclub page was updated with the message "online item stock limited" or something similar. I decided to take the leap and order the set before it got sold out. :p The order is still being processed, which just means it hasn't shipped out yet apparently.

combined item(s) total $ 1,047.88
combined shipping $ 91.72
tax $ 99.72
combined order total $ 1,239.32

+ $40 membership = $1279.32

w/ my citibank platinum select card providing +1yr to the westinghouse 1yr warranty, and since I chose sams club I have the ability to return the set to the store itself. I'm pretty happy with the price with all the other considerations.

Does anybody own TWO of these bad boys? Originally I wanted to pick up two 24" LCDs, one for the computer and one for computer + tv + everything else, then it turned out the BenQ doesn't have 1:1 pixel mapping. I know these things cost an arm and a leg just for one, and I'm a poor college student, but hey, we all gotta splurge once and a while! Is two too big for a large desk?

i just got one few day ago, i have zero dead pixel

i called Westinghouse befroe i bought this
they said, if there had one dead in the middle centre or totel 5 dead pixels
you can return it. it is under the Warranty
so dont worry, send it to them ask them for a new one

Post your pics if you just got one. It would be interesting to see how everyone is setting theirs up.

Dont worry. When I get mine I'll take pics all the way from it being first at home, to it being set up. I should know Friday whether or not this new job is going to go though. If it does, the monitor will come shortly after.

Diefathin,

Is that where you keep your Westy or just where you unpacked it? Hope thats not where you keep it since these things tip over quite easily. Seems you need a computer desk more than anything else too--you should definitely get a wall mount for this LCD like a Samus VM200, they're about $55.

Holy waterworks batman. Sheesh scale the pictures down a tad, they're wider then my 24" monitor!

to 5150Joker

thanks for you idea.

the problem is ,
i am living in the college dorm room.
i can not make any hole in the wall
if that is my room, i will do it

later on, i will post my setup.
>_< this week is my exam week, i will have my fall break 3 day after
which will be my time to enjoy my big and nice monitor for WATCH movies!!!!!

PS: you can see the different between a 19" (5:4) and 37w3(16:9) in the last pic

Wow...can someone please edit these photos and scale them down for the sake of the forums?

My goodness!

I mean, we get it...you have a 37" now hahahahah

I'd like to actually SEE these pictures without having to side scroll and scroll up and down :)

I'm still waiting for my 37 westy to get shipped :[

I'm actually eager to see more pics of actual gameplay/desktop work with these displays :)

Not that it matters at this point, since I already placed an order for one of these bad boys :p

It'd just be nice to see what it looks like...for anticipation's sake :)

Thanks for downscaling those pics, Ender. That is a dead sexy monitor I swear. I've been looking and reading about this thing for about 2 months. I want it so bad but have to sell this 32" TV I got sitting here first and I have to wait for my credit balance to go down some so I can charge the mug. Keep 'em coming.

Why i did not downscaling the pic?

my pic is pertty closed to 1 : 1 about this 37w3
So it will let you know the real 37w3 looks like

i had 2 more pics
and this is my suck setup

Once more, i am using 6600GT (outputing 1080p)
i can not believe my card had 1080p from Dvi to Dvi!!! :D :D

Thats pretty ballsy of you to be putting the Westy on such a flimsy surface. I was paranoid having mine on my glass desk so I ended up mounting it which turned out to be a blessing since the monitor is further back now and I got a lot more desk real estate. Why don't you invest in a small desk if you live in a dorm? Using a table + board stretching across to another desk is just asking for your display to eventually tip over and shatter.

I don't need pictures that are 30 inches wide. I can't tell how much bigger the monitor is from those pictures. I have nothing to gauge it by. We make our judgements from seeing other objects near by and sizing it up to that. Like that 19 in the last picture. Based on that I can visualize the difference it would take against my 24". Scrolling just makes it a pain in the ass!

Shit, now I REALLY want a W3... All I have is my (comparatively) crappy W1 :( At least there's no dead pixels on mine.

ive had this monitor for a few months now and love it. ive been trolling this post for awhile along with the one on avsforum.

i thought id add to the post with a few pictures to help anyone on the fence about this lcd. i know for me pics help a lot in my deciding factor on whether or not to pull the trigger.
im connecting into the westy through dvi with an evga 7900gt. apologies in advance, pics were taken pretty quick.
