Whats the one game that got you hooked and spending to much time online on the computer. The one game that started it all?

Mine was Myth:the fallen lords.

My second question is...Whats the best game you ever played but was overlooked by most?
mine was this one below
http://www.donanimhaber.com/game/ekrang/sacrifice/

God that game was fun but nobody knew about it. :(

I can't pinpoint any specific game really but I have a pretty good reason as to why I'm on computers as much as I am. My parents bought my first computer, a Commodore 64 when I was 7.

That was 20 years ago... wow. First game was Spike's Peak.

Kings Quest (the original)- I am even kicking around tossing an old machine together just to play them all again.

Strike Commander w/ Voice pack

And a little influence from Warcraft 1 and Civ 1

The first I ever played was Gortek and the Microchips for the Commodore VIC-20, on cassete tape. What truly hooked me forever was when a friend of mine called me up one day, glowing at his brand new Tandy 1000XL with 20mb hard card, and that I just HAD to check out this game called Wing Commander...........

Civ1 then Civ2w/nazi mod then a bit later on April 19 1999 I bought a small game called EQ and that changed my life. Woh! And I still play it every day to this day.

Well Warcraft III was the first games that made me spend over 2+hours ONLINE, but not the game that started me playing videogames. Then that would be either GIJOE on Commadore64 or Indy anna jones on Atari or that multiaction pack on atari....

Quake/quakeworld on the PC....prior to that Intellivision and Atari 2600...yeah I'm old.

the original question was online, so that would have to be CounterStrike.

the first game to keep me up all night would be the Ultima series

I thought I was the old guy...

Wizardy on the Apple ][ got me truely hooked on PC games which was fueled by the Atari 2600 we had. I actually played / wrote some games for our previous computer, the "ELF" back in about 1980. We had several versions of the old text "Adventure" series, the precursor to Zork, way cool stuffs there that took up a lot of my time. So yah, damn near 25 years of "computer" gaming for me.

1st game I played online that got me hooked was HL:TFC. Ran a Clan and a Server.

And a game I played no one knew of... was on the console: Sega Genesis "Shadow Run"

I think the game or games which got my hooked on computer gaming was either Drol (sp?) for the Apple IIGS, Karate for the Apple IIGS, or Silpheid for the IIGS.

Although my gaming history goes back to the early 80's (I'm not that old, but I started very young), I think the first game that took my gaming past "casual" was UFO:Enemy Unknown (I think the US release of that particular game was called XCom, it's sequels were called XCom everywhere) on the Amiga.

Me and a friend of mine literally used to play in shifts.

For online gaming it was Quake2 (it played awful on my system, but it got me hooked on the whole idea).

For online gaming? Outwars. I'm not suprised if not many people heard of it.

I played the heck out of Civ 2, Warcraft 2, and Baseball Mogul ... but the first game to take over my entire life was Unreal Tournament. 2-3 hours per day for 2+ years.

Best game I've played that most haven't played (or even heard of) would have to be Wheel of Time.

I remember one of the games that got me addicted to games was Adventure Island on the Commodore-64. That was over 15 years ago, and I still remember something about a Bull statue and quicksand. Don't think I ever beat the game, because I doubt I had the mental capacity to even figure out the puzzles when I was 8. ;p

EQ was probably one of the games that got me addicted to MMO's. From there, I've played about every MMO since they've came out, and currently hooked on WoW.

I also remember playing arcades when I around 5-7 years old. I remember going to the local arcade where I lived and they had Super Mario Bros and Double Dragon.

There was a guy who used to con me into putting quarters into the Double Dragon machine so he could kill me at the first level and gain extra lives for himself. That bastard.

As to your second question: I don't really play any games that others wouldn't know about. About the only game I've played that many haven't heard of is Darkness Falls and Darkness Falls: The Crusades. They were both MUD's but they were simply amazing. I still play DFC between MMO's. They're pay-to-play MUD's (DFC is $10.00 per month to play, but it's a game service so it comes with some other games to play). Darkness Falls was created by Mythic, and Dark Ages of Camelot was based off of Darkness Falls.

Absolutely identical to me man. Xcom: UFO Defence was the game that took me to the next level. I would play that game for HOURS, literally for days at a time. I didn't have a computer at the time but my buddy did and we would play it constantly. We would do the same thing, he would play for about an hour then I'd play or he'd play a couple mission then I'd play a couple. Sometimes we would create squads and play at the same time. I've never been able to recreate the joy I got from that game back then.
Some of the first games I ever remember playing are Kings Quest on a tandy 1000 and Oregon Trail on an Apple IIc.

Mine without question was DUKE NUKEM 3D. That game was my first game that started me on mutiplayer gaming. EX.. my modem would call his computer, and we would kill each other. That was so much fun.....

Hmm, the first game that hooked me playing online was "Hexen" (if you call two players over a modem online). I remember staying up all night (9+ hours) playing coop with a friend. Before that night I'd never played more that about 2 hours at a time "online".

The best games I ever played, but was overlooked has to be "Heroes of Dragonlance" or "SkyChase", both for the Amiga. We used to have SkyChase tournaments when I was in college using the splitscreen feature (and the paper airplane was banned).

The game that hooked me on computers though has to be "Dune" for the Amiga. I would spend days playing that game.

Now that I think about it there are even more games that I remember, such as, "Raid over Moscow", "Beach Head", "Defenders of the Crown" and "Ultima IV" for the Commodore64.

First game that got me hooked? Hmmm.. Would have to be The Bards Tale on the Commodore 64..... Spend many a sleepless night adventuring....

I think it was the original Castle Wolfenstein that got me hooked on FPS's

My favorite game way before home internet was available was Maniac Mansion for the trusty old IBM-compatible PC. The graphics were intense.

First real online game I got into was FFXI. No earlier game really caught my attention.

Well, the first game that got me hooked to online play was MW4.

But the first, online RPG i've tried is L.O.R.D. Anyone who knows this game has been around since before the internet boom :D

Sim City 2000, Dark Forces 1, and Xwing were probably my firsts.Doom II also i geuss but i didnt play it quite as much as the first 3

I used to run a BBS system, and LORD was the only game on that machine. :D

first game to get me hooked on online gaming was quake 2... soooo many mods...

best game i've played that not many people have heard of: Beyond Good and Evil for xbox

I used to play games on and off, without any serious dedication. WarCraft was the first game to keep me on the computer for more than an hour. I played Star Wars Dark Forces, which got me into FPSs. I went through all the old ones: Doom, Doom II, Duke Nukem, Golden Eye, etc... But it wasn't til No One Lives Forever that I thoroughly became hooked on FPSs. I used to play that game for hours. I'd even try to beat it as fast a possible in one day and the next day try to beat my time.

Quake 2, Lithium2 mod for me. It was my freshman year of college playing on my roommate's 350mhz. Dell (wow, that puts things in perspective doesn't it?). I've been hooked on online fps games ever since.

i can still remember the day that i first played doom shareware. and god i knew i was hooked from there on.
also, LORD and Usurper on BBSes were first "multiplayer" games i had ever played.
Usurper is still my favorite game ever, nothing will beat being a king in that game and having everyone under you... god it was a good feeling.

...Winter games for Commodore 64 too.

I think I was too embarassed to play any of those games where your prowess at "waggling your joystick" determined the outcome.

UO was really my first online game, then everquest. Dabbled in earlier ones but those two were the ones that hooked me into online gaming.
As for games that got me into gaming, i'd say the winter, summer (and others) games for the Commodore 64. They weren't great but still fun. I loved the cinemaware series also, (Three stooges, defender of the crown, ect).
My very favorite game of all time, and also one of my earliest ones was Elite for the c64. Spent hours playing it. M.U.L.E. was a good timewaster also. All the old infocom were good too. Zork series and hitchhikers especially.

I have that game and my genesis sitting on the other side of the room. Great game.

First game I played obssessively on line would be Quake I / TeamFortress. If the wife had realized then what it would start... :D
