It depends on your purpose. For my situation they're perfect. 60hz is more than I'll need for 4k (x3) and there's no perceptible difference above 60hz in racing games. If it was for an FPS, sure, probably worth it to spend double on Gsync and 120hz.

Hard to fathom that is the issue. BF2 had voip at the very latest. 2005, and my home broadband was barely hitting 1MB/s, an Athlon 3500+, 1GB of RAM, and it was a better experience in terms of lag and hit reg... With 64 players, VOIP in game, and running teamspeak also.

Either way it was a hell of a game. Hanoi with that bomber in the pond, Hueys blasting ride of the Valkyries. Better than anything made in the past 8-9 years for sure.

VOIP was native to BF2, and it may have been in 1942/Vietnam. All these missing things have been around for at LEAST 17 years. That means most of the interns that developed this game were about 3 years old when these features were considered as basic and necessary as keyboard and mouse support.

2142 was $25 by Thanksgiving. Only difference is that all my BF2 buddies were telling me how amazing it was (and they were right). Compare that to 2042 wherein a positive review almost seems like trolling.

Aside from the 10TB or so of data being transferred, there's not a whole lot of r/w activity on them. They'll be online continuously, but maybe 10GB/day r/w average. My 2TB raid5 array has been running fine for 8 years without issue.
